My relative recently bought the Hybrid RAV4. And he's really happy about it and recommends it to everyone!
He showed me the stats in the Toyota app and I was shocked. It said that 64 percent of the time the car has been driving on electricity. His car has driven 8000 miles by now which means that he's driven only 3000 of those miles on gas. And he saved a lot of money.

We have a 2022 model Rav 4 hybrid AWD Cruiser (Australian model)which has covered 3700kms so far and averaging 5,7 litres per 100 or about 50 miles per imperial gallon. It is actually better than we thought it would be. Very comfortable drives really well, fit and finish truly excellent. I've been doing a ton of research on compact to mid size SUV's and the RAV4 is by far the best overall, I would rank the ones I looked into most like this: 1. RAV4 gas or hybrid, 2. Honda CRV, 3. Mazda cx5, 4. subaru forester as the best bang for your buck mid size suv's for 2022, most of the rest are either overpriced or unreliable money pits .... i would even stay away from subaru because of their CVT engines are not super reliable, mazda probably too for the same reason but they're likely to be more reliable than subaru's cvt's, honda makes a great cvt engine so those are okay but the best is the RAV4 which doesn't use the cvt but the 8 speed auto, there is simply no reason to not buy a rav4, there are so many options and great packages if you want more luxury, no need to get a lexus RX or NX with what RAV's offer on luxury and comfort, unless you wanna show off your money.

One things worth noting is the cables that wire the battery pack aren't covered under the 10 years warranty. Its only 3 years and 60 000km. And now Toyota is facing a backlash reguarding one of the cable that rust and cost almost 7000$ to get fixed. There is repports of those failure even on 2020 model that have a high millage. So far Toyota made arrangement with many owner with a NDA close that prevent the owner to tell what was the arrangement.

Wanted a new 2022, but due to shortage settled on a 2021 XSE. My previous car was a Subaru Outback. The RAV4 is nice, but noisy on the freeway. Wind noise and road noise was unacceptable for a $40k SUV. That is the major complaint I have. The lane keeping feature needs work. It doesn't seem to center you in the road, but is bias towards the centerline. I would rather side swipe a car than be hit head on. Seats are good, but could be better although I've only had my RAV4 for a few months, so I'm still getting used to it, which is especially hard since I don't drive it much. In hindsight, I think I would have been happier with the Limited, but I don't know if it would have the same problems. The first month I put about 500 miles, with 350 city and got 36 MPG. The second month, 344 miles with 154 city and got 40.8 MPG (calculated at the pump). I forget to check the trip computer to see how accurate it was.

Since i purchased my 2022 Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid, I hear a continuous rattling noise from the roof above the driver seat. Noticed it mostly when i drive at over 40-50mph on not rough but semi bumpy roads. Also I noticed similar complaints from other owners with my internet searches - "rav 4 rattling noise from the headliner".
The issue seems to me because of poorly fit between the plastic parts that snap into the headliner. Not something I would expect from Toyota for a Car worth $39,000. Super annoying!
And “NO”, this is not anything related with the Garage Door Opener or anything inside the Sunglass holder!
The only thing I am satisfied with the Car is for it’s mileage. It certainly shows around 37.5mpg, and i mostly drive on City roads.

I agree with you. I think the Kia S. Hybrid, looks great but I'm going to go with the Rav 4 b/c of the reliability. I've had 3 priuses, keep them all 10-12 years and I haven't killed one yet. It looks like 2023 Rav 4s are going to get an updated infotainment system, which will mitigate any concerns (I actually don't mind it being dated), so yeah I think this is the one.
:) Now the downside side is I am in NC, so it's hard to find one. I'm prepared to wait till Summer 2023, so the game is on.

Do the regular engine rav4’s last longer than hybrid models?
My bro had a prius and the battery or something had dead cells? Or something. I forget but it was going to be worth more than the car to fix it. It was an 11 year old prius I believe. I want a no headache car that can last me 15-20 years. I’m so over the gas guzzling mustangs, Camaros and corvettes ive had. I just want something to never really worry about.

I have had a RAV4 PHEV 2021 for the last 6 months, it charges to 54miles in 2.5hrs on charge at +7kwh The prices are high (@Premium Dynamic PHEV +£46k 🇬🇧 availability push’s this UP!) but what you can save on your fuel with regular charges and planning your trips this is greater! Its my 2nd PHEV if you have the time and will you can save a lot and its helping with a 🌎GREEN! Agenda 🙂 ( other reason to buy the Toyota dealership is 5min drive away from me. They also have a great warranty and services which i extended to full cover for 5 years services and parts cover etc… ) 😢I don’t like the out dated infotainment system but Apple CarPlay helps!! The 2022 model has a few extras i would like but i cant fault reliability and customer Service. #THETOYWORKS

You cannot leave the hybrid car park for 2 weeks or more, but the gas even a year is ok. Check the pros and cons before buying it... dont rely just on the review...

Sadly, the RAV4 Prime is no longer a good deal. Most dealerships are charging a $10K surcharge. I had two separate dealerships offer me a Prime for $56K before taxes. I did the calculations and it would take me over seven years to get my money back over what I could pay for a regular Hybrid. I told both dealerships to screw off. And the tax credits would not help as I normally get a refund. I would have to change everything regarding my investments and tax withholdings just to try to take advantage of it. Tax credits only work if you owe taxes. There is no payout. Whatever you can’t use is gone. Too much ass pain.

    • @Sokker247
      @Sokker247 2 роки тому +2

This is not true. You are eligible for the full credit if you pay federal income taxes equal to or greater than the credit amount. Your refund would be larger by the amount of the credit.

No one dares talk about the recalls and Numerous TSB's the Rav4 receive in 2019 and 2020, with a bit better showing in 2021 models. And considering CR is more data driven than almost any other evaluating source, this should give their ending opinion a lot more heft, right. I'm think of buying the Hybrid right now, but CR's detailed evaluation is giving me pause.

(My evaluation is base on my driving needs of 50 miles a day…I HATE my job location). I did the math, the Prime with its 45 miles per charge fell short of the sweet spot in regard to the 50,000.00 price tag. (I Think the sweet spot would be +100 miles per charge)
The reason for a plug-in is to take advantage of “equivalent to 2.00/gallon” (or whatever the price is in your local region). 45 miles per charge is only 3 gallon of fuel. At 5.00/gallon (locally, it’s 3.60), you’re only saving 3 gallons a day, 15.00. Actually, less since you still need to pay for the electric top off. So you’re saving 10.00/day. 50.00/week or $2,500.00/y.
30k for hybrid. 50k for Prime. $20,000 for a “3 gallon electric capacity”. Takes 8y to break by spending an extra 20k. Of course, faster break even if gas price is higher.
45 mile per charge (again, my situation), I will require to run my gas engine for the last 5-10 miles (depending on how traffic congestion)
Winter battery degradation & summer air conditioning: 45 miles per charge maybe closer to 40 or 35 miles per charge depending on these factors.
Side question: Is it me or those regions with the highest gas prices tend to have the highest electric price, too?

The front styling looks like something from "Thomas the Tank Engine" the angry car with a big mouth. Toyota need to fix the cable connector corrosion issue to the rear wheel motors. They should give a lifetime (reasonable use) warranty on this issue, it should not fail and if it does very expensive to replace and integral to the drive train. The three year warranty is outdated, even Ford offer five years unlimited and Mitsubishi ten, limited.
