Thank you so much! I just got the 2022 hybrid XSE (a little bit on the MID is different, but I can figure that out, they’re pretty similar.) I was going to this car from a full gas 12 year old SUV…and the million buttons, screen, hybrid stuff has been a little overwhelming! (And I’m computer savvy!) Just a note if anyone from Toyota is reading this: Your manuals are awful…if it tells me to go to page this, or page that, one more time, when I’m on the category I’m supposed to be on, I’m setting fire to you! My husbands 2019 Tundra manual is just as bad, FYI @Toyota Now I really understand the majority of what everything means and how to work it. Thanks for the FYI on turning off the Traction Control for getting out of a snowy parking space, or going on a gravel road…good to know! (Don’t travel on gravel roads, much…but not having a bunch of paint dings, etc, will be nice. I didn’t know that the windshield knew that it was raining and how much it was raining…I’ve driven it in the rain, and kept fooling with it to go faster and slower as the rain change (like I did on my 2011) and it seemed to be doing something else…I’ll just leave it be, now! Good to know how to charge the battery…mine keeps showing that it’s low, so now I know! Also had no idea that the key fob had a real key pop out of it in case the battery dies…thank you!!! Also how to alter the time until the doors lock when you walk away…I wasn’t sure if they did or not. (I think the sales guy needed to spend a little more time explaining this all to me, thank you Internetz!) Only thing I would add to this to help a new hybrid owner: Just say that the car will make a really strange sounding noise when it’s going in reverse, that’s it’s normal (meant to warn people you’re moving), not something wrong with the car…which I thought there was something wrong until I googled it. Thanks so much, quick and easy explanation! I love my new car, and I’m glad I now understand it a lot more!
I just put a deposit for Rav 4 SE in this same blue color. I also got all three optional packages. Question: I am wondering if the back up camera lines (when shift the car to reverse) move as you steer the wheels on the center display? On the Toyota website the SE said projected line only not guided.
I just bought my Rava4 2021. Thank you! One question, please! Have you had "hybrid sustem mal function"" mal function message? What to do when er get it? The dealer in my town doesn't know.
Thanks for the awesome video. On the air direction button, how come I can't have both the defroster and upper fan on? When you rotate through the air direction options, the defroster only comes on when you have the air on the feet only. Thanks!
So this car has no Ambient Lighting? Also what is the difference in pricing between this car & the Adventurer? Does the Adventurer come in a Hybrid? Thank you.
Hello, thank you for the Rav4 demo. I also like to know where the USB ports are located in front and back seats. I am researching Rav4 prior to a purchase. My schoolager is very interested in the charging capabilities.
Thanks for watching. In this video you will see the entire interior to see where the charger ports are I hope it helps ua-cam.com/video/olhI0chZx_I/v-deo.html
Great video! Just got my 2022 RAV4 Hybrid XLE. On the MID screen I don't seem to have the audio tab. Any idea how I can add it? I see that this one does have it. My sister has the same vehicle and she has it but for some reason mine doesn't. Thanks!
@@brianruperti No. I scroll across the screen with the arrows on the left side of the wheel and I have all the other options like the eco leaf, drive info with trip length and milage but the little audio logo just isn't there. I feel like there has to be a way to add it
@@ethanderaris9217 If you try settings in the MID, there may be a spot in the display menu. If not, try display in the settings on the infotainment screen. If not I’d consider calling your local store to see why it wouldn’t have that.
@@brianruperti I've looked everywhere in the settings both on the 7-inch screen and the MID. the salesman told me it wasn't possible to add because I don't have the larger MID display that comes with the higher models. I know that's not true so there's got to be a way. maybe it doesn't have a software update or something?
I picked up my Rav4 SE Hybrid today. On the home screen, it showed the same display as in your video in the upper left, with the arrows showing the battery, engine, etc, phone below and audio on the right. After pushing many buttons and exploring, when I went back to the home screen, that section showed the average mpg and how much further I could go on that tank. Then later went back to the first display. I cannot figure out how it showed the second, or how to get back to that, but I prefer seeing the display with the avg. mpg and distance. Hoping you can help (and understand what I am asking!)
Hi I am old enough to make mistakes I touch the wrong button and the screen change which is the way to go back to the original display I mean with the 0 KM and showing the speed may be the arrows ? Thanks in advance , I got a Corolla 2019.
Excellent video. It appears that the digital Speedometer is already set at factory as I don't see where the conversion took place in your video. I guess I will have to see what comes with the car once I take delivery of it and then deal with the issue them.
Can you explain how to input the gas price? It was a feature the Prius had to demonstrate how much a trip cost or how much savings you were getting compared to another vehicle with lower gas mileage. Btw, great video!
@@brianruperti ua-cam.com/video/TLdY2W_kgPQ/v-deo.htmlsi=9v9y-AAKs_plL0xi It May no longer be available. I went back to the dealership and the tech had no idea.
I have a quick question? When my rav4 SE Hybrid doesn’t have camera view setting where I can change the view more wider when I hit reverse can you help me out
Why airflow mode control switch is still on, when you turn off climate system (at 16.40 min)? How can you turn it off? I mean, is there a way to completly turn off climate system?
Shifting the gears can you also use the shift for going up the hill and do I have to press on the + to go up the hill or do I just switch it to the shift and not touch it at all and just go up?
Hi Debra, my adventure hybrid ( edge ) arrived last Tuesday. Very daunting and yes it does seem there are slight differences in every country. Eg can’t customise my key fob as to open only one door. The software in the infotainment won’t allow customisation. Perhaps the limited ( cruiser ) does. But I think many of the basics are the same, so this video will be very helpful. NZ
Hi Brian! I have got my RAV4 Hybrid! I am very happy! I only waited 5 months! I have the panoramic moonroof but id does not go all the way back even if I push it twice, do you think something is wrong with my rav? Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. I have never used a hybrid and I will eventually. I have been learning how to use them. How do you turn it off? Maybe I will learn from the manual, but you may want to close the cycle of using the automobile.
Hi Brian, coming from your XLE video, as you can see, scrolling up/down on the ECO page of the MID doesn't allow me to view the Tank MPG. Been searching online and still haven't found the solution.
Yes I did some looking on a couple user guides and it appears there is not a screen for it on the MID. What if you try on the infotainment system. By going to the menu>info>eco
@@brianruperti I'll give that a try. Really confusing (and stupid) that Toyota decided to not include that on the SE trim. I can't imagine it saving any cost to them as they obv have the means to slap it in there.
Hi Brian, Quick question. Is there a way to disable the smart key system from the infotainment screen? ...Our 2006 Prius has a physical button under the dash for doing that. Thank you.
Great video! I purchased 2022 Rav 4 XLE Lunar Grey! When my husband drives at night he doesn’t like the automatic high beams. I don’t mind it ! He is concerned about blinding the car in front of us. I wanted to see how to deactivate it! I love my Rav 4 best SUV I’ve ever had! Maybe in the future I’ll get the hybrid 🥰
Thanks! Congrats on the car. Awesome color! Let your husband know he can bypass the auto high beams or turn them off. The button on the left of the dash turns them off. Then he can put them on manually. But do he advised they’re designed to work very quickly and in my experience they shut off fast for other drivers pretty much all the time every time.
Wow…perfect exp;a nations…just what I needed….my first smart car! Do wish when you did the MID stuff you could shown your push of arrows in conjunction with what shows on the dash …for those of us (me) technically challenged.
Hello, My 2023 Rav4 hybrid XLE's infotainment system just started we rebooting itself again and again. It starts up with the warning message, then the screen turned black, and restart itself again. I am unable to permanently turn off the system using the on/off button, it keeps restarting itself. I can't kill the volume as well, once it restarted, it had the volume back on. So, unable to just use Bluetooth and talk on the phone. Quite annoying... Do you have any suggestion to fix? Or at least turn the thing off before I can bring it to the dealership? Many thanks!!
Did I miss the “Trail” button? And what does “Inter webbed” mean. p.s.Just got the car and this tutorial was great, because there are a ton of buttons.
We just bought 22 limited and we can having a trouble with the sound system shutdown by itself I wonder if any one experimented something similar. Already bring it twice to the dealership and they keep telling me is my phone.
What do you mean, it shuts down? Does it say, "Audio off"? That's what my '21 RAV4 Prime does. One of the many reasons I hate that POS. I'll NEVER buy another Toyota.
@@TheCarlitosorozco Check your phone for a software update, and restart the phone. Go to the screen on car, select: Menu>setup>software update and run an update if available. Last resort: go into phone Bluetooth settings on phone and forget the RAV4 in the menu. Then go to connected devices on car and forget your phone. Then reconnect them. If that doesn’t work you need to go back to the dealership and ask a diff person for help. What phone do you have?
Hey Brian. Sent you an email already, but will comment here in case. There’s an XSE model I’m planning on picking up that doesn’t seem to have the heated steering wheel or defrosting blades. However, the listing is explicitly saying it does as well as the technology package (which I can’t tell is true). I want to make sure this is correct, but any chance you can help me out to verify?
Hello. What I recommend is that before you sign your paperwork, ask your sales person to see the car, and ask them to point out where those features are for you. The buttons for those features would be on the left side of the dash. But you must verify this info physically before signing your paperwork.
3/26/22 WOW, THIS CAR HAS MORE BUTTONS AND KNOBS THAN A MICROWAVE OVEN. I just want to drive a car not like planning a trip to Mars to go on a road trip. Even though this car has a ton of features they need to design a feature for just short trip driving that with a press of the button would set a set of standard normal car drive features for city driving without you studying to be a rocket scientist. I can see for older adults used to driving a standard gasoline car now with too many distractions leading to possibilities of even many more accidents, plus I can see because of all this computer tech you may save on greater gas mileage, but end up spending more in servicing cause of all the many sensors which has to be in the hundreds. This looks like a great car for tech nerds, but for the normal car driver, this is more car than what is needed for basic everyday car driving. My final thought is Houston We are Ready for Blast Off!
Hi Brian, I will be taking possession of a 2022 RAV4 AWD XLE Hybrid shortly, and have been looking for a tutorial on how to convert the standard analog speedometer to a digital one. The 2022 RAV4 User Manual that I downloaded from a Toyota website mentions the conversion but it lacks basic instructions on how to get there. The tutorials offered on UA-cam are mostly based on a RAV4 PRIME, that has a different Multi Info Display. Can you actually change the speedometer of my future RAV4 to a digital read out?. It is no biggie but it would be helpful to know just the same for me and other UA-camrs. By the way, I have watched most of your tutorials on RAV4 and personally you do a fantastic job in explaining all the car's features. You are a natural at this. Looking forward to your posting of additional tutorials on RAV4s.
Hey Joe thank you for the feedback and kind words. I have a tutorial on the 2022 XLE hybrid here: ua-cam.com/video/xXn1HaD41j0/v-deo.html The arrows in the steering wheel will let you get to the leaf symbol menu on the MID. Then scroll down until you see a big digital “0” and there is your digital speedo :-) Hope that helps
Hello, Brian, thanks for the tutorial. Very informative video, indeed! A quick question regarding the map message on 21:51 - ua-cam.com/video/0j7Qvhmi0Gc/v-deo.html I was told by a local dealership that Toyota is discontinuing the offline map and with the 2022 models there will be some cloud based map solution that comes with MyT connected services. It should be something subscription based that you have to pay certain amount to have the map working for some period of time. To be honest I could not find any info on this new map feature (probably because the product is too new and still not documented). Are you aware of such alternative map solution provided by Toyota or it is just Android Auto/Apple CarPlay that will work with the MAP button on the infotainment system?
Hi Deyan, Thank you. I have not been made aware of such changes. As of now we are only trained of these changes existing in the 22 Tundra and still sell plenty of vehicles with the offline map. I hope that helps.
Can I really wear driving gloves? I live on CA coast where WARM is 62 degrees. You are wearing gloves at 61 degrees. Gloves or no gloves; gotta be cool. You need REAL driving gloves if that is the direction that we are going to take! 🤭

Only thing I would add to this to help a new hybrid owner: Just say that the car will make a really strange sounding noise when it’s going in reverse, that’s it’s normal (meant to warn people you’re moving), not something wrong with the car…which I thought there was something wrong until I googled it. Thanks so much, quick and easy explanation! I love my new car, and I’m glad I now understand it a lot more!
Hey congrats on the car and thanks for the helpful feedback!
I just put a deposit for Rav 4 SE in this same blue color. I also got all three optional packages.
Question: I am wondering if the back up camera lines (when shift the car to reverse) move as you steer the wheels on the center display? On the Toyota website the SE said projected line only not guided.
Congrats. If the lines are yellow and boxed you’ll have the dynamic rear view camera.
With that audio plus on the SE do you get JBL speakers? Believe it or not my local dealer cant definitively tell me either way. Thank you.
10/10 amazing video! Thank you for taking the time
Thanks!
How do I install the Navigation App?
App Store scout gps link or just plug smartphone into the car and use apple CarPlay or android auto
On the SE trim with the audio plus 9in touch screen do you get the JBL speakers? Great vid by the way thank you!
No the JBL is only in the premium audio which comes as an option on the XSE. Thanks!
I just bought my Rava4 2021. Thank you!
One question, please! Have you had "hybrid sustem mal function"" mal function message? What to do when er get it? The dealer in my town doesn't know.
Congrats I’ve never seen that message. Your dealer must know how to handle this.
Hello Brian can you push the key fob and start the car
Yes
How do you change mid screen
Use the arrows on the steering wheel
Thanks for the awesome video. On the air direction button, how come I can't have both the defroster and upper fan on? When you rotate through the air direction options, the defroster only comes on when you have the air on the feet only. Thanks!
Thanks! Many manufacturers don’t allow front and defrost at same time. Not sure why but it’s been common sight in most vehicles I’ve owned.
Maybe I missed it, but wondering where the directions/compass is on the screen. I cannot find the N S E W anywhere and I rely on that often.
If it has one it would be in the MID
Also check if you have remote start I didn’t even know until i tried in my 2020 limited
what happens if the battery in the fob dies. How do start the car?
This should help

Are your tutorial videos for Canadian or American RAV4 SUVs?
Thanks

Question buddy?
How come my 2022 rav4 hybrid doesn’t have a camera where u can change the view..is there problem with it
No problem with it. Some are equipped with the dynamic rear view some are not
I just got mine in cavalry blue . How do you remote start the car? Is it available in hybrid se 2022?
If it has it, press lock button 3x and hold on 3rd time for 5 seconds
Thanks Brian
You’re welcome
can you make tutorial video on how to remove split map screen and make it full screen.
Just tap the map my friend
Or go to settings, navigation, advanced nav settings, and it’s in there
Excellent fully informative tutorial
kindly make a video on RAV4 hybrid LTD 2022 full options
Thanks! Will do when I can
So this car has no Ambient Lighting? Also what is the difference in pricing between this car & the Adventurer? Does the Adventurer come in a Hybrid? Thank you.
I haven’t seen an adventure hybrid yet. Ambient lighting is on the XSE. The adventure is usually a bit more in cost
Hello, thank you for the Rav4 demo. I also like to know where the USB ports are located in front and back seats. I am researching Rav4 prior to a purchase. My schoolager is very interested in the charging capabilities.
Thanks for watching. In this video you will see the entire interior to see where the charger ports are I hope it helps

Great video! Just got my 2022 RAV4 Hybrid XLE. On the MID screen I don't seem to have the audio tab. Any idea how I can add it? I see that this one does have it. My sister has the same vehicle and she has it but for some reason mine doesn't. Thanks!
That is peculiar. If you keep scrolling it doesn’t show up?
@@ethanderaris9217 Please allow me to inspect the next hybrid XLE we get to see if this is something that has changed that I was not made aware of.
Congrats! Try selecting: menu>info>eco>history
Thank you so much. Can't wait for my car delivering.
Congrats!
Hi I am old enough to make mistakes I touch the wrong button and the screen change which is the way to go back to the original display I mean with the 0 KM and showing the speed may be the arrows ? Thanks in advance , I got a Corolla 2019.
Use the arrow left and right to the leaf menu then up and down to your desired page
Excellent video. It appears that the digital Speedometer is already set at factory as I don't see where the conversion took place in your video. I guess I will have to see what comes with the car once I take delivery of it and then deal with the issue them.
Thank you
Can you explain how to input the gas price?
It was a feature the Prius had to demonstrate how much a trip cost or how much savings you were getting compared to another vehicle with lower gas mileage.
Btw, great video!
Thanks! I’m sorry I don’t know how to do that I will have to learn it then will show in my next tutorial

I went back to the dealership and the tech had no idea.
I have a quick question?
When my rav4 SE Hybrid doesn’t have camera view setting where I can change the view more wider when I hit reverse can you help me out
That means the car doesn’t have the dynamic RV camera
Why airflow mode control switch is still on, when you turn off climate system (at 16.40 min)? How can you turn it off? I mean, is there a way to completly turn off climate system?
The system is shut off once off is selected
Shifting the gears can you also use the shift for going up the hill and do I have to press on the + to go up the hill or do I just switch it to the shift and not touch it at all and just go up?
You’d down shift for more power in this case
Good job thank you !!!

I have the Rav 4 Cruiser 2022 upgrade model and some items look a little different. I'm in Australia.
Nice
Hi Debra, my adventure hybrid ( edge ) arrived last Tuesday. Very daunting and yes it does seem there are slight differences in every country. Eg can’t customise my key fob as to open only one door. The software in the infotainment won’t allow customisation. Perhaps the limited ( cruiser ) does.
But I think many of the basics are the same, so this video will be very helpful.

Hi Brian! I have got my RAV4 Hybrid! I am very happy! I only waited 5 months! I have the panoramic moonroof but id does not go all the way back even if I push it twice, do you think something is wrong with my rav? Thanks!
Congrats! The pano only goes back about half way because it goes over the body. Totally normal. Enjoy!
@@brianruperti Great! Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. I have never used a hybrid and I will eventually. I have been learning how to use them. How do you turn it off? Maybe I will learn from the manual, but you may want to close the cycle of using the automobile.
Hey check this video out
ua-cam.com/video/UFnrGpENk9Q/v-deo.html
Hi Brian, coming from your XLE video, as you can see, scrolling up/down on the ECO page of the MID doesn't allow me to view the Tank MPG. Been searching online and still haven't found the solution.
Yes I did some looking on a couple user guides and it appears there is not a screen for it on the MID. What if you try on the infotainment system. By going to the menu>info>eco
@@brianruperti I'll give that a try. Really confusing (and stupid) that Toyota decided to not include that on the SE trim. I can't imagine it saving any cost to them as they obv have the means to slap it in there.
@@alanyu7688 I agree
Hi Brian,
Quick question.
Is there a way to disable the smart key system from the infotainment screen?
...Our 2006 Prius has a physical button under the dash for doing that.
Thank you.
Hey David not that I am aware of. The only way to disable is from the fob as far as my knowledge goes.
Just got my SE on Monday!! Question, are there sensors?
Parking sensors**?
Congrats! Only when equipped. You would see round sensors in the front and back. They’re not standard.
Thank you
I got you, thanks for watching
Thank you for this. My Toyota dealer (Brent Brown in Orem, Utah) didn't show me any of this.
Happy to help!
Thanks very much!
I got you!
Wow…perfect exp;a nations…just what I needed….my first smart car! Do wish when you did the MID stuff you could shown your push of arrows in conjunction with what shows on the dash …for those of us (me) technically challenged.
Thank you
Hello,
My 2023 Rav4 hybrid XLE's infotainment system just started we rebooting itself again and again.
Hmm sorry I’m really not sure
do we have sun roof for SE hybrid ? or does it come with any package
Moonroof comes with the SE convenience package
it's included in a Canuckistan SE.
Did I miss the “Trail” button? And what does “Inter webbed” mean.
p.s.Just got the car and this tutorial was great, because there are a ton of buttons.
Trail adjusts the AWD and trac control for better gravel control. Inter webbed meant connected or intertwined. Thank you
@@brianruperti Thanks man. Great job. 👏

How many miles do you get just driving on fully charged battery? I’m looking into buying rav4 hybrid…
The EV max speed is low compared to the Prime so it’s actual full battery charge will depend on driving conditions

@@brianruperti start shutting down after been driving for about 5 minutes after that is constantly
Go to the screen on car, select:
Menu>setup>software update and run an update if available.
The button you’re looking for which would be for simple driving is in the car. It’s called “ECO MODE”
I have a tutorial on the 2022 XLE hybrid here: ua-cam.com/video/xXn1HaD41j0/v-deo.html
The arrows in the steering wheel will let you get to the leaf symbol menu on the MID. Then scroll down until you see a big digital “0” and there is your digital speedo :-)
Hope that helps
with those black gloves on, i feel like your teaching me how to get to know the car that i am stealing.

Hello, Brian, thanks for the tutorial. Very informative video, indeed!
A quick question regarding the map message on 21:51 - ua-cam.com/video/0j7Qvhmi0Gc/v-deo.html
I was told by a local dealership that Toyota is discontinuing the offline map and with the 2022 models there will be some cloud based map solution that comes with MyT connected services.
Hi Deyan,
Thank you. I have not been made aware of such changes. As of now we are only trained of these changes existing in the 22 Tundra and still sell plenty of vehicles with the offline map. I hope that helps.
woo don't leave any finger prints

Can I really wear driving gloves? I live on CA coast where WARM is 62 degrees. You are wearing gloves at 61 degrees. Gloves or no gloves; gotta be cool. You need REAL driving gloves if that is the direction that we are going to take! 🤭
