Bought my wife a new 2018 RAV XLE Hybrid. Although it is the last generation it is still an absolutely "perfect" vehicle. We even got a discount but that was before COVID. My advice to everyone is that if you can't afford a new one, shop for a lower mileage used RAV4 hybrid. They are out there. May take some work. Even if it is a previous generation like mine you can't go wrong as these vehicles can last hundreds of thousands of miles with proper maintenance.
I love my grandma’s 2020 RAV4 Limited Hybrid AWD, it’s a fantastic vehicle that I’d highly recommend. Hybrid is def the way to go with a new RAV4, it comes standard with AWD too, I wouldn’t want it any other way. The normal RAV4 won’t have the pickup of the hybrid and the Prime (plug-in hybrid) is honestly too expensive for a RAV4 IMO. Price difference between a normal RAV4 with AWD and a hybrid RAV4 is only about a grand and the hybrid is a far better powertrain IMO. My only issues with it are the lack of a power passenger seat and a very slow touchscreen but I can forgive this as it’s fantastic to drive, gets 40MPG, and has reliability by it’s side. I would like it if Toyota redesigned the RAV4 in the near future though as it does feel outdated for 2024. I would probs choose a CR-V Hybrid if I was in the market for something in this segment today but the lack of a 360 camera and ventilated seats is disappointing. The newer Mazda products are also making a solid case for themselves!
RAV4 Prime is made in Japan. The rest of the RAVs are made in North America. The build quality of Japan is superior. The SE Prime model is 10k more than the standard Hybrid. I'm 70 and I want to travel a lot so I bought the Prime. I have been getting 56mpg with the combination EV/Hybrid. This car will take me to the end of my driving career. Basically the only reason I'll be using the ICE engine is to keep the gas from getting stale. I can jump in my car and use the EV mode everyday, with a charge up costing me 1 buck here in Oregon each time.
If you really want to get the maximum potential out of the RAV4 2024, you need to switch to sport mode, turn off the ESP and use the manual transmission. For a very long time, I was troubled by the fact that this model drives and starts very clumsily for its performance. What is the main difference between the RAV4 and the Honda CRV? It seems the Honda CRV has a quieter ride, more comfortable driver/passenger seats and is more affordable?
I'm struggling between the RAV4 Limited and Audi Q5 Premium Plus. Realize their class is different, but which would you pick based on overall value? Moving from an older Audi Q7.
I assume you have test driven them? As long as you are comfortable moving from an Audi to a Toyota, the RAV4 will definitely be the better value in the long run
I envy the American prices as I live north of the border. In Canada, the Rav4 Hybrid is $46,000, + the tech package is another $2000. Overall I always enjoy your videos.
Got a Rav4 XLE for $33K with the trade in of my 11 year old Highlander. Very pleased. Comfortable. Drives great. Quiet. Fuel efficiency is amazing. But I guess I should cry and whine because the display doesn't "flow." What a nation of spoiled babies we have become.
Congratulations gentlemen on a great business. You must be living the dream driving and reviewing cars together! If you don’t mind, as a owner of Rav 4 Hubrid XLE, I would like to give you a different perspective. 1) The car is quite noisy, and vibrating when even idling with engine on 2) It is made of VERY cheap plastics that constantly squeak and I have had to return to the dealership numerous times 3) The alien hybrid sound it extremely loud. You can hear it from super far away 4) Apple Car Play GPS does not work and now Toyota have to figure out a fix 5) Driving experience is quite unstable 6) Only two positives: good interior room and good fuel economy DEFINITELY not worth the nearly $40K. A friendly advice: to get ahead, do not make these videos like they are a manufacturer commercial. Be completely impartial and do your homework, asking owners about their experience. Finally, we also own a 2023 Corolla Cross gas. That car is far better overall in every way except gas mileage. It is quieter, more refined and the interior does not squeak! Corolla is made in US, Rav 4 in Canada. Our last Rav 4 was made in Japan (2007) and had no rattles anywhere. All the best to you!
Great review as always. Now that they finally added LED front turn signals on the SE XSE trims (only.. I think) I would really like them to add full LED lighting to the rear. Adding LED to backup lamps and turn signals Also. Want to see Toyota bring electric Folding outside mirrors to the RAV lineup Are all the interior lights now LED? I wish Toyota would install a cargo area light on the left as well as the right. Needed for sure back there What is the ground clearance and the turning radius? I think the decibel levels would be lower if you removed your cam and closed the Sunroof shade
The Sportage is way nicer, upscale and quieter car. The hybrid system doesn't beat Toyota in fuel efficiency, but it doesn't have a noisy eCVT which is a positive. The Tucson is also getting facelifted this year, so it's a better choice than both.
As one of the comments above said, there are many pros and cons. The biggest one is that the RAV4 will be at the Sportage on real world fuel economy but it uses a 6-speed automatic which helps it to be much quieter when accelerating hard
I have been testing and researching both extensively. If you can afford $52k-ish, the Kia plug-in in X-LINE Prestige trim is beautiful and tech loaded. Much prettier, comfortable, and luxurious on the inside. I'm just struggling with the longevity of the Kia. I hear its much better now but Toyota is k own for longevity. Kia also has a way better warrantee. Tough choice.
Good review, except on the XSE, the front passenger seat is manual. A huge fail from Toyota on this. The front passenger seat, sits oddly high and can not be adjusted lower.
This car is in need of a refresh. Cabin and engine are just so noisy even on the streets. Materials are cheap and when I cranked the volume, speaker frame would rattle the plastic.
Toyota has embarrassing interiors. I was embarrassed just sitting in a RAV4 that was parked on the dealer lot. Hopped right out and couldn’t believe how cheap it was. Never really experienced anything like it for the price one pays.
There is only one way to find out the true gas mileage. Write down the miles when you fill up and drive the car 100 miles and then fill up again and divide the miles driven by the gallons used while driving. In eco mode I think that you will find that the RAV4 Hybrid gets between 28 and 30 miles per gallon. The real miles per gallon is totally different than what the read out says it’s getting. Toyota should be held responsible for this scam.
Wife’s 2024 RAV4 LE says 44.3. Filling up and recording in Fuelly says 44. Now my Camry Hydrid SE is a little dishonest because it is supposed to get 47 on the highway. When entering into Fuelly hI reach 51…shame on you Toyota.
@@JohnDavis-yz9nq Try the pulse and glide method if you own a hybrid. Before using it I had thought I wasted my money. It basically consists of accelerating to speed letting up and gently pressing the pedal again. It puts the car in and seems to keep the car in electric drive as much as possible. Friends say using the same methods have gotten their regular gasoline rav4’s to get beyond the sticker mpg. Taking it easy my car gets at least the EPA estimate if I drive like a maniac I can get it to go much lower. Driving “spirited” on the way back from an out of town trip I got 46 mpg in my Camry Hybrid.
@@christopherjarvis1815 yes our RAV4 is a hybrid. I will absolutely try this. I am guessing using the cruise control on the highway it could work if a person went a little faster than the speed limit before letting off.

Since 2023 RAV4 already has digital clocks, the ones you have are from the old 2019-2022 version. Only I see that you already have the new 2023+ multimedia.
I was just wondering why this 2024 XSE doesn't have the full Digital Cluster gauge? I'm in Canada, I got my 2024 Rav4 XSE last October, and its been an awesome ride. It has the full digital cluster guage. I love love love it. Great gas milage, the car is quiet (reminds me of predator space ship - you cant tell its moving sometimes) Yea, the price is crazy. I am not sure I would want to change my car anytime soon with the way the industry is going.
I have one of these cars. Buying it was a second chance for me for Toyota / Lexus. It is nosier than less expense vehicles in its class. Also I am having alerts go off for the rear back sit when in reality it has no rational reason to flag alert. I have less than 2,000 miles and it already defective parts needing replacement. I am hating this car. I think I would have been happier with a Mazda CX-5. This Toyota RAV4 is likely my last from this manufacturer.

New prius and upcoming camry are much better. I imagine redesigned rav4 int will be better. The WORST is the corolloa cross hybrid int. It makes its competitors like crosstrek and toas seem like luxury cars!
Everyone keeps saying the RAV4's have more road noise than comparable vehicles. Other than just looking at decibels, how does it sound to you guys with the test drives? Is that road noise that much more than similar compact SUVs?
I had a 2019 RAV 4 and I agree. It was one reason I traded it back. I enjoyed everything else but I believe for the price, I deserve a more quiet cabin.
I just locked in a quote for an XSE Hybrid with tech package and a bunch of goofy dealer add ons ffor $48800 out the door. Right at MSRP plus tax and license. Im still really considering the Kia Sportage plug in X-LINE Prestige. The Kia at the tiptop trim is simply gorgeous and blows away the RAV4's interior by a mile. Excellent review!
What is the main difference between the RAV4 and the Honda CRV? It seems the Honda CRV has a quieter ride, more comfortable driver/passenger seats and is more affordable?
My local dealership is quoting 10k over all the prices you have listed. I wish I could get it for that!
There are 1,277 Toyota dealerships in the United States so make sure you ship around and don't pay a giant markup
Fantastic review as always!😸
yeah good luck getting one. Also that infotainment screen looks so out of place. Maybe its just the huge bezels.
Huawei Aito M9, BYD YangWang U8, BYD Leopard5. Chinese Hybrid SUV, One generation ahead !
Nice video! Ordered one! What do you guys recommend for rust protection on hybrids?
Definitely. Hybrid re-sale value will be good in the future, especially if you keep it in the best condition possible.
wondering this as well
It’s 2-3 inches of legroom from perfect. I ended up with a Camry Hybrid instead of a RAV4 Prime because of the head and legroom.
Congratulations gentlemen on a great business. You must be living the dream driving and reviewing cars together! If you don’t mind, as a owner of Rav 4 Hubrid XLE, I would like to give you a different perspective.
1) The car is quite noisy, and vibrating when even idling with engine on
2) It is made of VERY cheap plastics that constantly squeak and I have had to return to the dealership numerous times
3) The alien hybrid sound it extremely loud. You can hear it from super far away
4) Apple Car Play GPS does not work and now Toyota have to figure out a fix
5) Driving experience is quite unstable
6) Only two positives: good interior room and good fuel economy
DEFINITELY not worth the nearly $40K.
Thanks!
I hopefully soon, I buy this 2024 RAV4 Hybrid.
Wait for new model 2025
That is so much cheaper as it would cost in Europe... where you can easily add another 15k to that price tag
What about the Mazda cx70 hybrid model when are you going to review this new model?
We are in communication with Mazda about when this model will be available for reviews
Which one would you choose between Limited Hybrid vs XSE Tech Package?
We prefer the design of the XSE
How can piano black be better than Matt blk?. The gloss doesn’t hold up and gets lots of scratches especially in winter climates.
Great review as always. Now that they finally added LED front turn signals on the SE XSE trims (only.. I think)
I would really like them to add full LED lighting to the rear. Adding LED to backup lamps and turn signals
Also. Want to see Toyota bring electric Folding outside mirrors to the RAV lineup
Are all the interior lights now LED?
I wish Toyota would install a cargo area light on the left as well as the right. Needed for sure back there
What is the ground clearance and the turning radius?
I think the decibel levels would be lower if you removed your cam and closed the Sunroof shade
Toyota RAV4Hybrid very good car.
It's a baby Grand Highlander !
The back of the new rav four like this one look old style and the other taillights/old ones look new idk why
Thanks!
How do all think about and compare rav4hybrid vs Kia Sportage hybrid?
Try them both. I wasn’t impressed with the Kia, but you might like it.
@@christopherjarvis1815 I don’t understand why Toyota doesn’t just tell the truth about the real mileage. Our 2024 RAV4 gets no better than 33 mpg.
I want one! Great review.
Thank you!
higher upfront cost but higher resale value too
So it evens out to nothing and you end up paying for a vehicle that is lacking in every aspect except for the powertrain.
I wish they would bring back matte black. Piano black or gloss shows scratches, dust, and fingerprints.
I don't want to pay top dollar for a car that's 'limited' but that's just me.
Phev only fellas
I don’t like the touch screen. Looks too big, intrusive and like it’s been stuck on top of the dash as an afterthought. Toyota could do better.
Can't get one here in Canada within a reasonable wait time! Ordered a Prime and can expect up to 2 years wait!😮
That’s insane
I ordered XSE as reviewed. 4 months and at msrp.
Ordered xle premium hybrid and wait time is also the same 😢
The car is practically the same as the previous Rav4 gen 5 models. I purchased a late 2019 limited trim model for nearly 50% less money than a 2024 model.
Since 2023 RAV4 already has digital clocks, the ones you have are from the old 2019-2022 version. Only I see that you already have the new 2023+ multimedia.
What is more fun to drive? Mazda CX50 or Rav4 (considering top trims)?
Cx50 by far. In fact literally any other cuv is more fun to drive. CX5 cx50 tuscon Sportage crv
Mazda.
Mazda is best known for their fun driving. CX-50 is way better than the RAV4 when it comes to driving.
@@macattack251 the cx30 is also better looking, much nicer better quality roomier faster etc
My Maytag washing machine is more fun to drive than any Rav4
I was just wondering why this 2024 XSE doesn't have the full Digital Cluster gauge?
I'm in Canada, I got my 2024 Rav4 XSE last October, and its been an awesome ride. It has the full digital cluster guage. I love love love it.
Great gas milage, the car is quiet (reminds me of predator space ship - you cant tell its moving sometimes)
Yea, the price is crazy. I am not sure I would want to change my car anytime soon with the way the industry is going.
This trim and color looks great, though I'm holding out for a refresh. Never liked the Fisher Price interior.
Everyone is enamored with the gloss black but it’s going to look dirtier and going to show lots of scratchy over time…
This car has aged very well but time for a new update now, competition has caught up and overtaken
Which competition overtaken? Rav4 still the highest selling car in the north america.
@@Gopinathk17 easy. Crv Tuscon sportage cx5 cx50 rogue
😍
True, it’s a fantastic product but def getting dated
@@naveenthemachine what easy? Rav4 is outselling all those cars you mentioned.
When dealers stop selling them for 5000-7000 over sticker I would consider it.
As of early April, you only need 11 thousand donuts to get the half a million mark... 👏
Counting them down!!🎉
The Tesla Model Y Long Range eats this RAV4 for lunch! No contest and it’s cheaper after you ncentives
Love that rav ,in Australia we pay $57k for AWD xse
looks great from the external but the internal is very outdated unfortunately
Just cant get rid of my 2012 RAV 4 Limited 6 cylinder.
lol!!!!😅 I love ur doughnuts in there😘
Nissan rogue is a reliable issue cvt... it does not come close to a Toyota!! Rogue will be broke down many days...
That’s what I paid for our 24 Subaru Outback Touring XT with several accessories 😳
Do the mirrors fold in automatically or not? If not what trim offers automatic mirrors?
They do not and none of the trims offer that feature
@@CarConfections awe man I had to replace my passenger side mirror for my next vehicle I would like to have automatic mirror button I will check out some other suvs then.
What are the rearview mirror buttons for? Thank you, good information.
Thanks for the support! They are HomeLink remotes for garage doors
Yes Toyota has great reliability, yes their hybrids have great fuel economy but lord their interiors are so bland and ugly. Everything is the same color and just very low rent. Some of their newest models are better but for the most part Toyotas interiors are their weak point.
I like them but they are dated. I hope for a redesign soon!
Yeah the RAV4 interior is not aging well. It is one of the worst and cheapest interiors for the segment.
@@ishaansaral502 it’s not but I’ll admit it’s dated as the current gen RAV4 has been on the market since 2018, hopefully a redesign comes soon
Yup
New prius and upcoming camry are much better. I imagine redesigned rav4 int will be better.
The WORST is the corolloa cross hybrid int. It makes its competitors like crosstrek and toas seem like luxury cars!
Waiting for the redesign next year maybe?
that one big ugly screen in the middle...
Awful
Give us back the GPS and forget the wi fi, it doesn’t work in area that doesn’t have internet access.
The price is way too high. Omg
Like this rav4 suv got good fuel economy
Its the worst RAV4 because of the cablegate issue.
The Toyota RAV4 is too expensive. I'm not getting that
Where do you live?
@@Gopinathk17 it's too small
@@tahran5782 first you said expensive and now small 😀
@@Gopinathk17I think she meant that it’s a small expensive SUV
I bet everyone who’s gotten a rav 4 in the last year or so got ripped off. I could probably get the best deal of the century 😊
Under msrp…
@@Redhawk24 yes likely 5-6k

Everyone keeps saying the RAV4's have more road noise than comparable vehicles. Other than just looking at decibels, how does it sound to you guys with the test drives? Is that road noise that much more than similar compact SUVs?
You can hear the engine during acceleration for sure.
I had a 2019 RAV 4 and I agree. It was one reason I traded it back. I enjoyed everything else but I believe for the price, I deserve a more quiet cabin.
@@moorefacts6605 Noisier engine lasts longer than quieter engine.
Might be the BEST car sold in North America. Small SUV
It could be, but it has some major downfalls. I would say the worst is the outdated and low quantity interior that Toyota has been known for.
what's the color of this car? Balck or Grey? i find difficulties in color diffrence. But it looks grrat color.
Magnetic Gray
Imma wait for the hammerhead refresh
The RAV4 Prime is a much better car. Transformative, really.
I just cant quite convince myself the long term quality is there.
Tesla Y dual motor minus tax rebate is 42k. Test it you'll see how much nicer it is.
Your website don’t work. I want to shop for car prices and I don’t see a space to put the zip codes
Are you using the main webpage www.carconfections.com/new-car-quotes ? I just checked that page and it seems to be functioning properly now
