Thanks Bob for another great podcast, i met Larry Benoit back in the eighties when we were wiring a condo in Waitsfield and he was taping sheetrock when i lived in Barre and also bought his book, How to bag the biggest buck of your life and didnt even think for him to sign it. Thanks so much for the Bear hunt a few years ago. Looking forward to more! Tom McDonald U.S.M.C.
What a great episode! Lanny’s stories are priceless and there are nuggets in every one. Wish we had them all recorded. There’s a really good chance Lanny is the best buck tracker to ever play this game.
Thanks for sharing, brings back memories Nov. 20, 1986, hunting off the Golden Rd, after shooting and dragging my buck to truck I had the honor to meet Larry Benoit when he stopped by to check out my deer, assuring my friend my that I got a good one and he was well over 200 lbs. (229 lbs) If I remember right they were driving a blue Chevy Blazer. There was 6 inches of snow on the ground w/ flurries at 1;00 pm by Saturday we had 36 inches more and that just about killed the hunting.
My dad has the original book “How To Bag The Biggest Buck Of Your Life” by Larry Benoit. I have been through that book front to back, countless times. I used to look at the pictures before I knew how to read when I was little. And I’m now 48 yrs old. I’ve always been amazed how the Benoit’s hunted. And in my opinion, Lanny is the best of the best. There’ are ALOT of incredible deer trackers and hunters, but there’s only one Lanny Benoit. A prime Lanny tracking a buck was pretty much untouchable. I can’t even imagine how many bucks have fell to his trigger finger.
I remember seeing Larry’s seminar in Albany, NY back in the 80s. I was a teenager. Didn’t realize I was listening to a legend. Fast forward a few years and I became a big fan of the Benoits.
I hunted with Lanny , Lane and Shane in New Brunswick in 2004 , I was with Lanny in his Suburban we had stopped in a clearing, we opened the back door and an Orange fell onto the ground, I picked up the Orange and Lanny grabbed his rifle, he told me to throw it up in the air, he shot it in the air , turned to me and said now we have orange juice 😂
@@patrickirish9427great sense of humor, Stopped by Larry’s house and met with him one day, he was making knives out back, we spoke for 1/2 hour and I ordered a knife from him. Goes in the woods every year
Thank you everyone for your great comments and support of the podcast. Each month we will be bringing you new guests that you will be sure to enjoy. Stay tune & subscribe !
The thing I liked about the Benoit videos was Lanny always seemed like the guy that didn’t want to talk or wasn’t going to let the camera stop him from shooting his Buck, but he was always the most patient and made sure everyone was ready. Would love to see footage of him on the hoof in his 20’s and 30’s.
Well I hunted a lot with Steve and little Donnie but unfortunately not the Benoits. But have to say bob is awesome guy. Question is that wyatt? bobs son if it is he has grown up man has time gone bye.
Anyone watching this who wants the secret........ Go hunting.. There is no shortcut. I'm not being mean, just honest.. Get out in the woods... If you stay long enough you will be doing the teaching, not asking. Do you truly think these guys asked how to track deer? Do you really think Dad said ""This is how you do it Sonny""".? Put your phone down.. Spend your time in the woods... Best free advice you will ever get.. Thank me later, go hunt.. ~God Bless
Love the legends telling stories , the bad stories are the best thank you have him again and his brothers or nephew
Best big buck hunter ever to take air in
Lanny Benoit Greatest Deer Tracker in my opinion ever I feel most people would agree 👍.
X2

You can pretty easily figure it out. There is a bag limit and there is an amount of years that he could have possibly hunted.
I wish that had been longer. I love hearing that man tell deer stories. Great episode 👍

Great story. Sounds like him too from what I know of him reading and watching!

Finally someone honest about how the deer herd isn't what it used to be 😢
9:50….. there is something to your statement in the beginning. That was kinda rude.
