Then what the fuck do you call Rubens Barichello who went from 12th to 4th over the first lap in a crappy Jordan, powered by a piece of shit, way under-powered Hart engine. I could explain it to you, about less peaky power engines with lower fuel weights being easier to drive, but that would involve technical understanding on your part, and not emotional bullshit.
When we talk about Senna we automatically remember Prost and we can say the same thing when we talk about Prost. Both were great when they shared McLaren cars in 1988 and 1989. I am a Brazilian and I will never forget Suzuka 1989. Forget the accident, I mean the fact that they both drove a Formula 1 without any electronic control and manual gearbox for 46 laps in the pace of classification, simply incredible. I will never forget! Some of the biggest races I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
Made all the more incredible by the fact the vastly superior Williams driven by Prost and Hill was about 2 seconds a lap faster than anything else in the field, Senna passed them both like they were backmarkers being lapped
Not on that day. The Williams actually had a setup issue with the active suspension. Suffered from very poor grip, even though it was wet of course. Schumacher didn't have traction control yet either, so he was at a big disadvantage in the wet
Funny thing is that only 2 laps later on the 3rd lap Senna had built up a 4 second lead and Murray talks about his horse power disadvantage and then shouts “Look at the gap!” before Hunt says “Senna is really showing his genius because the Williams is just as much a better car than all the others in the wet as it is in the dry”.....

F1 has evolved into a safe space race. Back then men were men while the cars and tracks dangerous. I am not saying that we do not need safety it is just that everything is over engineered
I am 25 years older and only can tell you that you missed the 60's and 70's and I missed the 50's but read a lot and know about the drivers in those years..
The same time Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger died on this Imola weekend back in 1994, the F1 died with them. The drivers were men, Heroes, they knew that their passion was dangerous and could either cost their lives or they could get hurt badly. This times are gone. There is no thrill anymore in this sport. 20 winning Championships of Hamilton wouldn't weight as much as 1 winning Championship back in those days before Senna died.
I was there & I still to this day find it hard to believe what I was watching. I was so focused on watching Senna that I forgot I was also soaked to the skin with rain. I had to drive 4 hours home in only boxer shorts . Undoubtedly the King of the track even today. RIP Ayrton. ( watch also Monaco changing gear & doing all the turns with one hand) Fantastic.

I Will never forget this lap. Senna was always the master of wet conditions, but this was him at his very best. The Williams cars of Hill and Prost were streets ahead of McLaren in terms of technology and lap times, but that didn’t matter when the track was damp and Senna was in this mood.

Yes, this is the greatest lap in all of Racing. And I was watching it live when it happened! I've waited many years for a high quality video of it, so Thank You F1!!
This is Senna's trajectory: 1984: Toleman (caught the attention of the world with great performances in a bad car) 1985-1987: Lotus (fought for the world championship with a car inferior to that of Mansell and Piquet) 1988-1993: McLaren (triple world champion: 1988/1989/1990/1991) But the 1989 championship was taken from him unfairly! 1994: Williams (died in the third GP of the year) If he had not died he would have won many championships!

in that race Senna is with Ford's second line v8 engine while Schumacher was also Ford's front row engine and the Willians of Prost and Hill v10 engines from Renault
This is one of the reasons that proves who is the best of all time
Raquel ll - Senna went from 4th to first ove rthe first lap and you call him one of the best based on that.

Senna.. master of the wets, king of qualifying and a true legendary champion of F1.
And a fantastic human being
Full throttle through the sea. That’s my man Ayrton the greatest...
I remember this like yesterday. Even I have to admit Senna was magnificent that day.
Think of Senna and Prost comes to mind. Huge amounts of respect to a legend like you sir!
@High Plains Drifter That isnt the real Alain Prost you muppets.
@@anispanicker it is
Made all the more incredible by the fact the vastly superior Williams driven by Prost and Hill was about 2 seconds a lap faster than anything else in the field, Senna passed them both like they were backmarkers being lapped
Not on that day. The Williams actually had a setup issue with the active suspension. Suffered from very poor grip, even though it was wet of course. Schumacher didn't have traction control yet either, so he was at a big disadvantage in the wet
Times on dry are meaningless, some cars doing great on dry can be dogshit on the wet and vice versa, see the last decade Toro Rosso.
I was looking for this type comment.
Hill being at the front speaks loads for Newey's cars.
Funny things happen in wet races.

Since the 90's the FIA made everuthing in their hands to try to destroy the Formula 1 putting unreasonable limits to the improvements of the cars.
@@antaresuy agree
The same time Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger died on this Imola weekend back in 1994, the F1 died with them. The drivers were men, Heroes, they knew that their passion was dangerous and could either cost their lives or they could get hurt badly. This times are gone. There is no thrill anymore in this sport. 20 winning Championships of Hamilton wouldn't weight as much as 1 winning Championship back in those days before Senna died.
I just loved watching this lap again, after so many years. Simply the best lap of motor racing ever .It's not even close. Senna's genius
Senna the best.
I was there & I still to this day find it hard to believe what I was watching. I was so focused on watching Senna that I forgot I was also soaked to the skin with rain.
