In what universe is Hamilton passing Perez and LeClerc at Silverstone one of the greatest overtakes of all time? It's literally just two other drivers getting it wrong. It's less an overtake and more just "driving completely normally"
Seems that purposedly this channel has "FORGOTTEN" to mention the maestral [ FIRST LAP ] of Donnington Park 1993, where Ayrton SENNA has simply OVERTAKEN his [ 5 ] opponents on the VERY [ SAME ] LAP, with heavy car in almost the SAME overall fuel and tires conditions of the others...
@@christschinwon there is also a brilliant dummy move overtake from Vettel vs Bottas, and Vettel vs Alonso in Monza on the grass of the curva grande should be in the list IMO. The double pass of Alonso in 2012 Brazil on the other hand was well executed, but against his teammate who certainly knew what to do in that race.
I think he was right. In car with shiftstick, with no traction aids, against Senna(though in early stage of his career), on a track famous for no space to overtake-I can't imagine harder challenge for any driver. Piquet has done it in style where 😎 meme is a joke.
Sorry, but your math is off. There are 29 passes on this video (pass number 22 was skipped). Alonso is the passer on 5 of them. That is 17%. Alonso is one of the best drivers in the world, and he has more passes than anyone else on this list (Hamilton, Ricciardo, and Schumacher are tied for second with 3 each). But Alonso doesn't have anywhere close to 50% on this list.
@@vincentleedy2933 and apart from that, the Brazil 2012 pass is not a really special one, as he overtook his teammate who opened the gap for Alonso in the inside while running Webber wide ... well done, indeed, but shouldnt even be a mention in this list. There are so many overtakes which were FAR better than this one.
Schumacher X Raikkonen (Interlagos 2006), Mansell X Senna (Barcelona 1991), Senna X Hill, (Interlagos 1993), Schumacher X Montoya (Melbourne 2002), Massa X Kubica (Fuji 2007).
I remember Schumacher's first win at Ferrari at the Spanish Grand Prix, in the rain, how many overtakes Michael made there! Where is even one?? Strange rating. Some overtakes here are the most ordinary
A video made by someone new to F1 and is obsessed with race winners. This was not about quality overtakes. Panis at Monaco on Irvine, numerous Kamui Kobyashi overtakes on various tracks, Barrichello at Silverstone, among others.
Wow... this sport was invented in 1986? Only ONE overtake on the 1970s???? I know... they look visually "outdated", but Fangio 1957 in Nurburing, breaking the circuit record 7 times in a row to overtake Mike Hawrton and Peter Collins with 1 min down? That was an "overtake" for the ages!
It didn't appear because it was one of the most boring passes ever, Mansell in the all winning active ride Williams, who delibrately tried to exaggerate the move by pulling along side Senna and weaving towards him while Senna kept his car straight as an arrow. Senna was not defending because Mansell was in a car that was a second a lap faster than his, No point. But the British press and Media have made a big deal about it ever since. It was a Nothing pass. The reason Mansell lost the title in 1991 to Senna because the Williams kept breaking down. They fixed they're reliability in 1992 and Mansell had the title won by the time they reached Hungary.
Te faltó solo una en el gran premio de Brasil cuando Shumi pasa a Kimi en la recta principal de interlagos casi pegado a la pared izquierda esa ha Sido para mí una de las mejores de la F1
Really, I watched the entire post and your title picture of Mansel and Senna wasn't even featured. That was the best over take ever due to the battle down the straight and how millimeter close they came to each other. Not to mention the Murray Walker commentary.
You could argue this one till the cows come home. Brilliant overtakes as some of them were, I will argue that overtake no. 11 Schumacher vs Alesi was nothing out of the ordinary but the lesser placed overtake of Max against Nico at the Brazilian GP in 2016 would deserve a place much, much higher on the grid, as it was shear driving skills, knowing where the grip was, that allowed Max, who has sought out this line behind the safety car, to use it during the race. Pure race craft and should be around the top 3, IMHO.
I wanted to comment on the Mansell pass on Senna showing on the Title but they didn't show it because this pass was pathetic by Mansell. It was 1991 and Mansell basically had the all winning 1992 Williams active ride Suspension car, only thing missing in 1991 from the williams was Reliability allowing Senna to pick wins when the Williams didn't finish. In this pass, Mansell made a big deal of passing Senna down the straight, probably lifting off along side Senna such was the advantage they had, and weaving at Senna while Senna kept his car straight as an arrow. The British press and media have made a BIG deal about it ever since because it was Senna he was passing and Mansell almost touched Senna's car to delibrately exaggerate the pass. It was a nothing pass.
i honestly think hamilton at silverstone 22 was the most overrated pass ever, both cars infront were much slower from running wide into the left hand part of the chicane and he had loads of room on the inside to drive into while the cars ahead ran wide again fighting one another, also he got repassed by perez almost immediately. if that pass was by nico hulkenberg or someone like that, crofty would not have been shouting himself to orgasm like he was here.
Number 8 wasn't a regular overtake, Schumacher used the yellow flag to gain on Hakkinen by not slowing as much as him through the smoke from Coulthard's engine.
So what you're saying is that there were no overtakes whatsoever between 1950 and 1979 that would make this list? How about you stop the clickbait shit and make the title "The Overtakes I Like the Best" ... Also, Mark Webber's overtake on Fernando Alonso at Eau Rouge has been voted as the best overtake of 2010 - 2020 by numerous publications including Sky F1. No mention of this? Video verdict - 2/10

L. H A M I L T O N
Villeneuve overtaking Schumacher in Jerez 1997
Schumacher overtaking Montoya in Melbourne 2002
Häkkinen overtaking Schumacher in Spa.
Two of the greatest memories of my watching F1 "career" was Senna's drive at a wet Donnington Park and Mansells overtake on Burger in Mexico.
Monaco for me. He was something else
He was “ Rain Master “. Must had 6th sense of the feel to car.
Senna? Have you ever heard of him?
Gilles and Arnoux. And they were already duelling since long on that race
Have you forgotten about Senna's countless overtaking moves?
Mhhh. Where is the first lap in Donington? Ayrton Senna...
lap of the gods
There's two way better than anything else.
Hakkinen on Schumacher Spa 2000
Piquet on Senna Hungary 1986

yes, I agree on that one. Absolutely nothing special in this overtake.

Waited for it for the whole list
I remember very well the Piquet - Senna one.
Probably my first memory of Formula 1.
It was so crazy, the picture of Piquet drifting still in my mind!
And Yes, he showed the Middle finger to Senna
I really appreciate the comments for context but then letting the race commentaries describe the action. Very nicely done.
Piquet on Senna in Hungary 86 was a looping in a 747 according to Jackie Stewart.

some INCREDIBLE overtakes on here!
Montoya on Schumacher, Interlagos 2001 must be in.

So many Alonso overtakes! Dude is unreal!
Villeneuve/Arnoux the best ever!
Completely agree.
