Part 1 is already better than other hemi cam installs on UA-cam 😂
Really appreciate the high quality detailed on your videos no sloppy camera work perfect sound to hear your explaining. Using your video while I’m doing my own cam and lifter rn !
Really appreciate the detail in this video as I never have seen a 5.7 Hemi cam swap before while engine in the vehicle .. great video as always man 👍👍👍 cheers
Thanks Darren! This was the first HEMI I’ve done and was fun to share the experience. We will definitely be doing more of this soon on some of my vehicles 👍
Always love an instal video!
Yes sirrrrrr 💪
Ive always been a car fan, but now I want to learn how to fix them.
That was a cool video - you gained a subscriber!
Great video. Thank you so much.
Very good info ℹ️ gonna be buying my first Hemi i always done only Audi and Mercedes completely different animals when it comes to chains and timing components this looks actually 80% easier
Amazing video
Thank y’all 💪🏿💪🏿
I remember buying stuff from Super Shops in River Oaks Tx back in the late 80's. Ran out of gas one time in their parking lot driving my 73 Opel GT (non-working gas gauge) 🤣
They are back actually! Check them out at www.supershops.com
You can leave long tube headers on the heads, a bit of a biyatch to thread them back through when reinstalling the heads, but it can be done.
13:58 boiiii that head 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 great work tho on the motor
The same 5.7 engine like my durango 😏👌🏽 love that you made this video with details makes me wanna do mines lol change everything lifters cam rockers and rods #BSTEDMTRSPRTS #moparty #5.7hemi
💪🤘
I installed a set of Stainless Works 2" primary long tubes on my SRT 392. It was a 3 day ordeal. I was thinking about doing a Cam, but now I am dreading having to remove those headers. However, I now know what all the adapters and locations I need to get to each bolt.
long ago with a big cam,had to shift at 6500 or whatever and use a 10 inch torque converter 3500 stall,or match it all up,i use roadrunner converter about 2200 stall 11 inch etc..done great an dust was maybe 3000 pound or so..not positive..light weight is a big thing though...
LS head bolts are TTY but have been tested and shown used 100k mile bolts have better break strength than a new set.
Captain CROCS FTW
Heeeyyy《☆》Nice work guys🤳Seems like another Utoober had to remove his oil pan when doing a Cam swap for 1 reason or another. Good luck fellas😎🎱🔊III[[[[☮🇺🇸👍🖖
What is the pushrod length did you orderd ?
Do you have to remove the heads for a cam swap?
I’m getting ready to install the same camshaft tsp stage 3
Thinking about doing my own myself
AT LEAST ITS GOT ALUMINUM HEADS,ON A 360 LONG AGO,YOU PAID MORE FOR THOSE..BUT, DISH PISTONS WERE LIGHT.......IN THE 360..SO EASY TO MAKE A SCREAMER OUTTA LIKE A 1984 MODEL, BEST YEAR I THINK WAS A 71, IF IT COULD BE FOUND..
There’s a bigger cam that they make for Flying Ryan Performance. It’s the Tomahawk .612 int .602 exh. Got it got my truck best of the best for stock bottom end.
Sweet I also have the 09-12 6 speed did u tune it where it doesn’t lose power in 4th?
How long did it take for tsp to send your parts
I've read hellcats and 5.7 hemi use the exact same lifters M6 non mds the same in 05 n up 5.7 hemis
What did you use to tune?
What’s the most horsepower can you get for a stock hemi 5.7 ?
Is it the same process for a 09 ram 1500?
Takes the headers off with the heads. Makes the job real easy
7:50 I'm sure it has had the heads taken off before. Buying a used 345 it has probably had the lifters replaced because of the super high failure rate. My 2013 charger I bought used in 2020 had the lifters replaced at 55K miles. That's why I picked that one because the replacement had already been done. Dodge really should have put better oil pumps in these engines!
So I happened to part two i'm assuming you had to get it proper tune?
Btr has hemi parts also
How do I remove cam bearings on my 5.7 with the motor in the car? Can it be done
I heard you have to jack the engine to get to headers
Does that same cam fit on a 14 dodge ram ?
Isn’t the hellcat lifters the same as all the other hemis?
you gotta do an MDS delete video. if you haven't already.
It’s part of this mini series 💪
@@BoostedMotorsports can't wait. really wanna do it to my Ram.
been trying to get my cam out after i lost oil pressure, havent been able too...
A1
Have guys ever thought of changing out the stock 5.7 oil pump for a hell cat oil pump for better oil pick up? The reason I ask is their very similar and the rotor is beefier.
There's a dodge guy who claims that may prevent the hemi tick. So yeah .. I'd do it if you're already disassembling the engine
reason you didnt just put the long tubes on after you took the headers out? seems kinda silly to fight and struggle putting the different exhaust on only to remove those bolts to take the headers out anyways
How about cylinder head skimming??
I bought a stage 3 camshaft kit for a SBC 5.7 vortec engine, the kit came with the camschaft lifters, gear and timing chain, I put the stage 3 cam, the gear and the timing chain, but I did not put the new lifters that came I put the stock ones in the kit, now when I drive my truck it doesn't take off, I press the throttle and it almost doesn't run, the engine sounds as if I hadn't put anything on it, my question is the following: does the engine of my truck work? So why didn't I put the new lifters on it?
Duh dude put the lifters in that’s probably the issue
Getting that cam out, talking about threading through the eye of a needle!
Yessir!
Is it possible to change the cam without pulling the heads if youre not changing valve springs or lifters?
No u gotta take the lifters off etc
@@trifttyfn7006It's not a LS with factory design lifter trays. I've seen some people rotate the cam to push lifters up. But it's a 50/50 deal. Dealing with Mopar or AKA Nick name slow car.
So does anyone know if the camshaft for earlier model 03-08 hemi is rhe aame foe 2009 and later?
No different cams 09 has VVT
@@justinw123 yeah I have a 07 Grand Cherokee. Spun rod bearing and was gonna cam the replacement engine. The older 5.7 cost almost 2k for parts and thats without any lifters. They are 100 a piece for OEM.
Hooked you up as in You bought it or they gave it to you to do the video?

I thought it was way easier to leave headers on head and take whole thing out from up top
i have seen it done with stock manifolds, but headers hmmm, I would like to see that one. maybe with two people.
@@willieshoemaker8680 use a cherry picker for just the bead. Think outside the box
Won't running a 180⁰ thermostat cause an engine code to pop for running to cold.
Not at all, I've been running a 180 in my 5.7 for years now. Just have to set the fans to come on at the right temperature. My car cruising stays at 175-180, doing pulls it gets up to 185-190. No issues with it though.
My 2010 Challenger R/T with a 6 speed manual runs 13.1’s in 5000+ DA. I installed my headers the same way y’all are doing this, not fun at all lol.
I've seen a lot of header-ache videos on the 5.7 hemi. When I wanna go faster, I'll just step up to the 6.4 it's badass right from the factory.
Don't you have to upgrade the turbine?? Or the stock turbine can handle the cam upgrade?
Tf is a turbine ?
@@DieselThaGreat my bad, it is called torque converter in the US. I want to install a stage 2 cam kit (the one that includes springs, pushrods, lifters, etc.) But my concern is: i dont know if the stock tranny or the torque converter could handle the cam upgrade.
@@victorgracia4754 oh ok thats what i figured you meant. Good luck with your build
@@DieselThaGreat thanks man, i'll see of i can document it
Depends on cam
more easy to do the job with the front bumper removed
Lol damn bro I know you didn’t hit him with the BOY comment.
Those head bolts are NOT torque to yield and in turn do not stretch per my local dodge dealer they can be reused unless an ARP upgrade is needed for higher combustion rates or something
Find a new dealer. OEM bolts are definitely torque to yield bud
how fast as a civic.lol
you do realize you don't have to take the headers off of the heads to pull the heads right
There’s a note during that section. Shorty headers and stock you are correct. These long tubes aren’t coming out with the heads
@@BoostedMotorsports thanks for correcting that, I have been reading comments all the way down to here about that. I guess some people just dont get it. lol
No such thing as hellcat lifters, they are just the new lifters for all the hemi engines
I upgraded to the Hellcat oil dipstick, adds 10 hp 🤣😂
Technically the hemis have two options for lifters . Non msd and the msd so
Lol, I thought what am I missing?
a very heavy car...my r/t would probably do 13.6 or so as it sits maybe better,i cant afford sticky tires though.....good luck...
I GUESS 5.7 IS OF COURSE A BIG BLOCK WITH LIKE 375 HORSEPOWDER, LOL...THE WONDERFUL SCAT PACK 1320 HAS 485 HORSE...
Um no 😂
JON, YOU NEVER MADE A SINGLE PASS,I COULDNT AN WOULDNT DEAL WITH THIS,HOW MUCH LONGER ON THE TWO PIECE DRIVESHAFT OR WHATEVER,AN THEN TO THE FRIGGIN TRACK,I MEAN, ITS TIME,AN MORE TIME,AN MORE TIME,WE ALL WAIT..........
Good god be easier to pull the motor then fight with all that mess
WILL IT BE 2 YEARS OR A MONTH BEFORE IT HITS THE TRACK, PLEASE..AN THE DAKOTA SITS AN WAITS, TRAGIC.........
No such thing as hell cat lifters lol
510 is big? Lol
Bigger than the baby magnum stuff we were playing with before 😂
i used comp cam. horrible service. the guy at hhp is a beeeeep beep
Why not take the face off the car
carbon fiber, take away 1000 pounds or so...
Rookie mistake. .... Leave the header's on the heads then take them off together. Same in reverse put header's on heads first then install heads
