Appreciate this video. I'm from Africa where we have no choice but to drive stock cars with small engines, sort of like Europe without the regulations. The first thing I did when I legally immigrated to the US was to get myself a 5.7L Hemi RAM - my dream car. Previously it was unfathomable that a normal bakkie (small truck) can have a legendary engine like a 5.7L Hemi. The first month was great, because as Standard it feels great to have so much power compared to what I'm used to. Then I started to get bored. Why is the throttle response so slow? why can't I hear my Hemi? Why does the engine change rhythm when I'm cruising? I WANT TO UNLEASH THE POWER! So after all my research during this Chinese Virus, I've come to exactly the same conclusion: I already did a lot of aesthetic changes to make my RAM look great (for me) , but it has to be: Cold Air Intake, Long Tube Headers and a decent Tune - and Borla for the sound, but that is optional and debatable... :) Great VID and thank you, I installed the CAI as a first step and what a difference! Next week is the LTH and in a month I'll do the tune! Stay safe and stay healthy.
the hemi equipped vehicles are quiet because of the stock muffler, cat, resonator and air box. so get a cold air intake itll give it a sort of super charger whine, and do a full exhaust id go with either a straight pipe xet up, flow master super 44(on my 06 hemi powered jeep commander) mbrp or borla exhaust kits and a high flow catalytic converter do not reuse the re stock resonator. your hemi will scream fear into others heart. as for the response you need a tune and youll be set. good luck and enjoy

My first mod was out of necessity and it blew my mind. I got a superchips tuner so I could shut down the MDS system after having problems with the solenoids for the second time. I had them replaced once but the mechanic evidently didn’t drop the oil pan like they claimed and clean out the debris that clogged the solenoids the first time and I am physically unable to do so myself. The tuner’s improvement on performance over the stock settings is clear, even running 87 with ethanol. When running 91 without ethanol and pulling a 6000lb rv, I could still probably out accelerate the stock settings on 87 with ethanol just because of the raw power and the optimized shift points.

So, I’m not trying to drag race my truck. I haul quite a bit of weight in it all the time and I tow a trailer with it frequently. I did install an exhaust cut out, right after the cats because I still have to pass smog and I drive it up and down I5 often. I just rebuilt the engine in January but couldn’t afford any mods. Given what I use my truck for what’s your standpoint? It’s an 06 ram 2500 5.7. Probably weighs about 9-10k as it sits. I carry chains and cables and snatch blocks and a bunch of other stuff all the time.
This guy is basically talking about race applications.... Long tube are definitely way to go for that scenarios.. but street/ towing I just did shorty JBA headers due to leaky stock manifolds, and they bolted right up to stock y pipe.... I noticed a diff. immediatley. Only other Mod I have is Flowmaster cat back that was already installed..... I will get AFE intake and then tune... be happy with whatever it amounts too.
Great. I have a 05 Ram 2500 quad SLT magnum 5.7 hemi 4wd and a 38 foot fifth wheel. I'm really pushing max tow capacity. So I don't need more speed necessarily but believe I need another say 1000 1bs of towing capacity and umph getting up steeper hills or long inclines. So does this mean more torque is needed above anything else? With my goals in mind do you think I should I still follow the order of this video or do these mods in a different order of priority?
Very nice commentary, thanks! On my 2019 RAM 1500 5.7L, if I do the headers, tune and CAI - will that cause me to fail my state emissions testing (required every two years)?? I would be retaining cats and keeping all monitors on in the tune. Thanks again!
I have a 2012 R/T 1500 5.7 hemi reg cab with 104340 miles in mint condition. Does it make sense modifying this engine with high milage, your thoughts please.
I would love to put headers and tuner on brand new ram limited, but sounds like it reduces reliability long term no? And for long tubes, shouldn’t you add an exhaust with that?
So long tube headers to the factory cats? 02 sensors? On the ram, 4 wd, transfer case takes up a lot room, 06 2500 hemi 6 speed, took out the y pipe, running true duals, but allways curious with the headers... In my opinion CAI can't make ambiant air, colder. Best bank for the buck is keep up on them 16 copper plugs.
Damn bro I just got shortys installed on my 2014 ram 1500 I told shop I wanted long tube and they talked me into shortys because they said my transfer case would be in the way ... smh .. now I want to blow up there shop 😫 lol
I live in Texas. I do not know if you know about a shop called Spikes performance. Well, I went to ask for a tune for my 17 ram 1500, they told me that need to send the computer of the truck to another state to unlock the computer and then they will tune the truck
I have a 2009 Ram 1500 5.7. Going with Shorty Headers since I have a cracked exhaust manifold and two snapped bolts and figure I might as well replace both sides. Not really interested in tricking out. Just want reliable performance. Am I missing anything? Most shops around here won't touch headers and bolt extraction, but I did find one. Josh Hodgdon full service every 60 k trans and diffs second owner made it to 250 k water pump when out and he pushed it and lost motor put a reman in it he has 306 k on it now again nobody ever services there cars but if you do they run forever
I got the 2 year unlimited mile aftermarket warranty just incase the tranny goes or something. Heard they were crap along with rearends but like you said nobody services them and bitch when they break. Has 130 k on it trying to figure out if I want to run conventional oil or a semi synthetic high mileage oil. From what I have read even supertech oil is actually damn good especially for the price
Thanks!! I'm about to go in on my 2020 Ram 1500 Limited trim. 5.7 Hemi
I want to as well with my durango 2020 but the wannanty 🥺🥺🥺
This guy is basically talking about race applications.... Long tube are definitely way to go for that scenarios.. but street/ towing I just did shorty JBA headers due to leaky stock manifolds, and they bolted right up to stock y pipe.... I noticed a diff. immediatley. Only other Mod I have is Flowmaster cat back that was already installed..... I will get AFE intake and then tune... be happy with whatever it amounts too.
Have you noticed an mpg increase at all?
If you want torque gains for towing I'd would get the tuner or custom tuning from frptuning.com and some longtubes would be ideal.
Very nice commentary, thanks! On my 2019 RAM 1500 5.7L, if I do the headers, tune and CAI - will that cause me to fail my state emissions testing (required every two years)?? I would be retaining cats and keeping all monitors on in the tune. Thanks again!
Awesome
Nice video. I live in socal so shortly headers are my only options.
Gotcha shorties is better than nothing 👍
Jba shorties dont flow better that oem manifolds some guy on tuned rams page proved it hes got a youtube channel too
They flow alot better than stock Durango manifolds for sure
BS....Anything flows better than stock Ram manifolds...I dont buy your comment.
I have a 2012 R/T 1500 5.7 hemi reg cab with 104340 miles in mint condition. Does it make sense modifying this engine with high milage, your thoughts please.
Thats not high miles send it
I would love to put headers and tuner on brand new ram limited, but sounds like it reduces reliability long term no? And for long tubes, shouldn’t you add an exhaust with that?
So long tube headers to the factory cats? 02 sensors?
On the ram, 4 wd, transfer case takes up a lot room,
06 2500 hemi 6 speed, took out the y pipe, running true duals, but allways curious with the headers...
In my opinion CAI can't make ambiant air, colder.
Best bank for the buck is keep up on them 16 copper plugs.
Hello awesome video im new to the truck scene. i have a 19 ram. you said headers. now are they called exhaust headers?
Yes longtubes is best
Okay great. Does it do anything for horsepower like the video says
Sadly I gotta keep my cats on so no long tubes for me. But I did just order some short tunes to get rid of the manifold
Damn bro I just got shortys installed on my 2014 ram 1500 I told shop I wanted long tube and they talked me into shortys because they said my transfer case would be in the way ... smh .. now I want to blow up there shop 😫 lol
Longtubes fit perfectly on 4x4 tons of people have them. Sounds like they just didn't want to install them because it is a little bit more work.
Thanks dude this helped me understand whats important for my 5.7 hemi.
What tuner do you recommend for ram 1500 5.7?
Diablo or hp tuners
I live in Texas. I do not know if you know about a shop called Spikes performance. Well, I went to ask for a tune for my 17 ram 1500, they told me that need to send the computer of the truck to another state to unlock the computer and then they will tune the truck
Yes or you buy a unlocked pcm. Thats the problem with today's new stuff.
Thanks for this video.
Thank you, this is very interesting and informative. Can you advise/indicate two brands of each 3 modifications that I could either import or purchase in Australia? I have a 2012 Jeep GC WK2
Would this work on a gen3?
Just got a 2500 dodge with a hemi 5.7 but can’t find long tube for less then $1900 can I used the ones for the dodge 1500 5.7 hemi ? I’m start watching your videos thanks for posting
Frostbite Ram, I'm Wondering if long headers run louder then the normal noise of a stock engine. And if so how much of a difference. Thanks and great video
They will be a little louder but if you run quality mufflers it can be Very mellow and quiet if you want.
I was wondering the same thing because I'm running super 10 flowmaster but I run the resonators on the tail pipes I was told if you eliminate the resonators it'll be louder
@@jeffcombest6466 add a cut off before the resognater
Hey! Great video! I just picked up a 2021 ram 1500 classic, but I can never find parts for it.. since it's the same body style would all the parts from the older years fit on the new classic?? Thanks in advance!
Yes they will! I also have a new ram 1500 classic 2020, and all the parts are identical to those that are designed for the 4th gen rams, 2012-18 because they’re pretty much the same body. Hope that helps!
Awesome information! I had no idea about the headers, that will be my next mod. Wanna get into tuning but just have no idea where to start or who to trust
Jay greene is my tuner he is good.
@@FrostbiteRam also I gotta ask: with a long-tube header install, can you recommend a good cat-back exhaust system? Or are you suggesting an exhaust-delete with the header upgrade? Thanks in advance, and great job!
@@orionmusicinc you can run it either way just know without mufflers it will be loud great for racing but not so much for the street.
don’t get BBk headers I’ve got a awesome set of paperweights and had to stick orginals back on
I have a 2010 dodge ram 1500 with longtubes, CAI, diablo tuner, high flow cats, dynoed, and a gibson cat back exhaust. I'm trying to get more out of my Ram I'm looking into cylinder heads, a ported intake, and a fast man throttle body atm. I'm hoping one day I'll make 500 hp but atm I'm not doing to hot with that.
Don't waste money on the throttle body not worth it
@@FrostbiteRam what do you think of the ati super damper is that worth it? I was debating on replacing my harmonic balancer anyway.
What are some good header to use I have a 5.7 challenger I just did my exhaust I want to do long tube headers next than cam
Ahahah I needed to keep watching you just answer my question lol
Awesome
Sound advice. It’s where I started.
Thanks🤙
What if you are just wanting power for towing & driving? I'm not interested in racing my truck.
I'd recommend a towing tune
@@FrostbiteRam but still get long pipes, program and intake?
@@marcogomez5198 if just towing i would just get a custom towing tune myself
My question is I plane doing a pedal master elctric cutoff and a cold air, but with after market headers can thy handle long distance travel without having to worry about the welds breaking or getting to hot?
Good headers won't fail.
I have a 2002 dodge durango which had a 4.7 and now has a 5.7 out of a 2002 1500 ram. Do these recommended upgrades apply to what I want to do with my Chevy Killer? ( Durango)
Long tube headers are a good choice outside of California. But now if you are in California the long tubes arent really a option.
In your opinion, do you recommend adding performance mods to a 21 Durango rt? Of course doing so would void warranty..so is it worth it?
Going faster is always better 😜
Doing this to jeep hemi commander Nd a cam wit full bolt ons
Awesome man
Great video man 👍
Thanks
Is it possible to get rid of that electronic gas peddle crap on a 2003 ram 2500
It's possible but tuning can make it great
I was on my way to getting long tubes for my Challenger, but my truck needed a new catalytic converter to pass emissions. 😩
Dang🤦♂️
Upgraded coil packs too
No need the stock coil packs work the best actually many have proven this.
What would be the best long tube headers to buy for me 5.7 hemi Charger 2014
Stainless works or arh is the best quality JBA is best bang for dollar
@@FrostbiteRam Interesting, I saw some JBAs pretty cheap

I went with 6.1 SRT shorty headers with the cats from a 6.1 added a Diablo tuner too. Added a Cold Air intake and a 180 Mishimoto Stat (ended up being a bad decision with this brand swapping out this week to a Milodon ) 6.1 water pump. 2005 Magnum R/T
How does the magnum run now after the mods?? I lm thinking about beefing up my rt
@@grandtrey182 went with the 6.1 water pump and the Mildon stat. Upgraded to a electrical Dorman 620-039XD fans. Engine Cooling...run around 186-192 on a hot 91degree Florida day. I am having an issue when I turn the AC on though the car temps begins climb into the low 200. This not normal for my car since I have owned it since 2008. I believe is might be the condenser. The upgrades have been amazing I even upgraded to an SRT eight rear end. I rebuilt the motor for years ago make sure you get a oil catch can as a priority because his motors have horrible blow back. I
upgraded my coils because 2005 had to take all the rat nest. So I went with a newer electrical harness ignition coils from mopar 2021.
Hey I have 5.7L hemi v8 jeep grand Cherokee 2019 model. Do you know what will it cost me to get all mods shipped to New Zealand!!
Honestly have no idea sorry
Get someone to buy it in USA . Put it in a box and ship it like that. Probably the cheapest.

I have a 2010 long tube headers
Cold air intake
Cat delete
Pedal commander
Need ro get rid of the check engine light dor deletes any info be great
Try o2 extensions
You have to replace leaking oe ram exhaust manifolds anyways... might as well install the long tube headers then.
I have magnum going to put shorty headers and hi flow cats
I had my challenger dyno 393/418 with just headers.
Thats great 👍
got an 04 duraango from an auction, what do you think I can do to it? I want it to perform but at the same time make it a bit more fuel efficient
Long tube good for offroading or overlanding?
Better always lol
What would you recommend for me to help my performance on my 1998 Chevy Silverado C1500 5.7 v8 all i done to it was put a cold air intake in it
Longtubes help alot
Over here taking 📝
Awesome 💪
What brand cold air intake and headers do you recommend?
I like the mopar intake and best bang for the buck is jba or Texas speed headers
@@FrostbiteRam thank you

FBR, in your opinion who is the best custom tuner? I have a Diablo I3 Platinum tuner. I own a 2007 ram 1500 SLT 4x4 4 door with (used to be) a 5.7l. I have bored and stroked it to 397ci with molnar 4.080 crank, 6.125 I-beam rods, and CP Eagle pistons (9.6cc dish) and installed an Inertia cam (I have cam specs). MDS delete, Eagle heads, and will be installing the 6.4L intake manifold and some sort of CAI. I have 392 injectors, pacesetter long tube headers, no cats, and a pacesetter 3" Y pipe. Tranny is the 545rfe with a Transgo valve body and Sonnax RFE-LB1 line pressure booster. I would like to adjust shift points, MDS delete from the ECM, raise speed and rev limiters, and adjust for tire size (35x12.50x18). Can you suggest a custom tuner? Is it better to find a local dyno shop and have them tune it? I'm in the Dallas area. Thanks!
Honestly depends on your goals for my opinion. you want to stay NA?
Jay greene in texas
thanks for making this vid. what tunersdo you recommend. thanks
Diablo sport or hp tuners, hp tuners does let you do a little more tho.
I’m looking at headers for my 5th gen. Curious on what brand you’d go with. These are what I’ve been thinking AFE but also looking at moe’s with there ARH.
If I did it again I would choose arh
What are you running now and just curious on why ARH?

I have an 06 hemi as well, what are some other good mods if you know of any?
Noob question here: do i have to change the exhaust sistem if i install long tubes?
No just the down pipes to reattach any exhaust shop can do it.
@@FrostbiteRam thank you so much!!!
I’m planning to get some Long Tube Headers & Torqstorm Supercharger Kit . What do you think about a cam ? Should I go for it & will it help with power output ?
The cam definitely helps more than longtubes but much more expensive.
@@FrostbiteRam would it be useless to do both . Is it kind of a either or type of thing ?

got a 2007 dodge ram 1500 5.7 Hemi that I use for daily driver/work truck. Should I still use long headers or would shorty's be okay?
Longtubes provides the most gain over shorties but anything is better than nothing for sure.
At the beginning of the video, That 2nd to 3rd shift sounded a little weird
Yeah that trans is gone lol we got a new racing trans now😉
@@FrostbiteRam sweet. I traded in my 2015 Jeep SRT and I loved how it shifts in sport mode. I’m researching to see if I can get my 2020 ram 1500 to shift the same way. I miss the aggressive way the Jeep shifted. The truck shifts too smooth for my liking LoL
didn't know a five speed could go that fast at least i think it is because of the short 3rd gear
I had my 5speed down to 11.8 now I have a built 4speed 46re and currently best is 11.6 in the heat hopefully 10s in the fall
Have a question man can I just get a programmer at summit and be good I have 04 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi wuth long tube headers
Very helpful thanks for the info man. How much do you think installation would cost for all of this on a grand Cherokee?
It varies depending on shops.
This was a great video. Thanks for sharing. I have a tuner question. I have the same tuner tpu mentioned in the video, and attempted to install it on my 2014 ram 2500 5.7, but the tuner told me that the truck already had a tuner installed (no idea what kind of tuner it is). Any idea how to remove the existing tuner so I can install my Diablo tune?
Thats weird. Perhaps someone left it tuned but removed the programmer.? You will need to return to factory tune to unmarried it not sure if that can be done with the new programmer if its been tuned by another already. I would call diablo and see what they say about it.
Just bought a 2020 Ram 1500 Classic Express Single Cab 6'4 bed 4x2 any recommended mods dont want to make it a drag truck yet right now just wanna make it louder and have some small HP gains to match my brothers 392 Hemi.
To get 392 power you will need pretty good gains. Either full bolt ons or nitrous/boost but a good start is longtubes and custom tuning.
Can I keep my stock exhaust with all these mods ? I just got a Muffler Delete done on my 2018 5.7 Charger
