      Absolutely! I just made a comment about the same thing! Just an FYI for those of you who may not know how to change the speed of your video (ie to slow it down), if you click on the settings icon (looks like a gear) and then click on playback speed, you can make it faster or slower. I have to make mine slower with tutorials and it makes me have to rewind less. GREAT VIDEO!

    My daughter in law asked for a chunky blanket for Christmas. I can crochet so thought I would try that. I looked at lots of tutorials and was frustrated. Then I looked at "finger crocheting" tutorials and finally I found this. Your explanation is so clear and the helpful things you added have been a true blessing. It seems simple but just moving the yarn from one side to another has been tremendously helpful. Thank you so very much!

    Thank you for taking the time and making this video!!! I made a chunky knit blanket in a couple days, just in time for Christmas. Very pleased and surprised how easy it was to make. Made one mistake, my first row was too tight and made it a little challenging to make "right", but it's all good, my friend is going to love this, I make her something different every year.... Thanks again for the simplicity of your instructions! God Bless and Merry Christmas.

    Hi Paige, I've made about 4 or 5 blankets, scarfs & hats and handbags. I've been using the Big Blanket Yarn from Michael's as well. One thing I do that you don't do and maybe should is tie a knot at the end of your yarn when you begin to make your chain. I also turn my chain over and start my rows it makes for a nicer finished look. So if your blanket is going to be washed it won't unravel. I tie my yarn together and draw the knot tighter and I trim off excess. I also don't do the last stitch on a row but save it for the next row as it creates a nicer chain effect on the sides. Just some little tricks I've picked up here and there. I hope it helps you. As well as knitters just starting out. But your right these blankets are so wonderfully soft, warm and cozy and make great gifts.

    • @PaigeFaul
      @PaigeFaul  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for sharing your tips, Ann! Since I made this video I started knotting that beginning corner, and I agree with you, it's definitely more secure that way. I'm looking forward to trying your other tips on my next blanket 😊

    • @playhooky
      @playhooky Рік тому

      I also much prefer to turn the starting chain over & make the 1st row of loops by going through the 'bump' on the back, also known as the 3rd leg/strand of the chain. And I also prefer the look of 'slipping' the last stitch of each row - does create an even prettier edge.

    Awesome video! You had me at "Don't unravel seven rolls just to fix one loop", I started laughing so hard because that is so me. I'm just a perfectionist and I'm trying my best to get away from doing that, nowadays if I see a mistake, I figure out a way to fix it without unraveling. Happy 2024 and I hope you're having a wonderful weekend❤🌹

    Paige here's a video idea for you: make a tutorial video showing how to 'drop down & fix a missed stitch' on a chunky blanket!!! Everyone, if you find a loop (knit stitch) that you missed - you do need to do something with it or that whole column of knit stitches will come undone! But never fear - you do NOT have to undow rows & rows of your knitting back to the row it is in. You can simply undo the column above it on one side or perhaps both might make it easier - then knit that column back up to where you are! Yes the yarn & loops will have to be pulled a little tighter on that column, but most likely won't be noticeable to anyone but you because you know it's there lol. One other emergency technique/option is to use sewing needle & thread to sew that loop securely to the yarns around it so it can't come undone & then slowly make the whole column of loops/knit stitches below it to also come undone. Best regards!
