    I have used Atenolol 25 mg once a day for 27 years. Only side effects I had was in the beginning I did feel draggy for first couple hours after taking it. That wore off in a month or so. I’ve had no other negative effects in 27 years. I have had insomnia and wonder if it’s connected. I doubt doubt it. My blood fasting glucose as I am older has went from 88 to now 98-105. I wonder if it could cause pre-diabetes. I know several people who took atenolol for many years that developed diabetes in old age. It may been connected or it may been a coincidence but the few I knew personally lived to be 85-87.

      Thank you for sharing your experience with Atenolol over the years. It's great to hear that you haven't experienced significant negative effects aside from the initial adjustment period. Regarding your concerns about insomnia and blood glucose levels, while it's understandable to wonder if Atenolol could be related, it's essential to discuss these changes with your healthcare provider for a thorough evaluation.
      Insomnia can sometimes be a side effect of certain medications, including beta-blockers like Atenolol, although it's not always directly linked. As for changes in blood glucose levels, while some studies have suggested a potential association between beta-blockers and alterations in glucose metabolism, individual responses can vary widely. It's important to consider other factors that could contribute to changes in blood sugar levels, such as diet, exercise, and overall health.
      If you're concerned about the possibility of pre-diabetes or its connection to Atenolol, discussing these concerns with your healthcare provider can provide valuable insight and guidance. They can assess your overall health, review your medication regimen, and recommend any necessary adjustments or further testing.
      Thank you again for sharing your experience, and I hope you find the answers and support you need to maintain your health and well-being.

    Helps Anxiety

    • @MediInsights
      @MediInsights  Місяць тому

      Thank you for your comment! Atenolol is primarily a beta-blocker used to treat high blood pressure and heart-related conditions. However, it can also be prescribed off-label to help manage anxiety symptoms, particularly physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat and trembling. This is because beta-blockers work by blocking the effects of adrenaline on your heart and blood vessels, which can help reduce these physical manifestations of anxiety.
      It's important to note that while Atenolol can help with physical symptoms, it doesn't address the underlying psychological aspects of anxiety. For comprehensive anxiety management, it's often best to combine medication with therapy and lifestyle changes. Always consult with a healthcare provider to determine the best treatment plan for your specific needs.
      If you have any more questions about Atenolol or its uses, feel free to ask!

    Less weight Gain then Metoprolol

    • @MediInsights
      @MediInsights  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you for your comment! You're correct that Atenolol tends to be associated with less weight gain compared to Metoprolol. Both are beta-blockers used to treat high blood pressure and heart-related conditions, but they have different properties. Atenolol is more selective for beta-1 receptors, which are primarily found in the heart, while Metoprolol can affect beta-2 receptors as well, which are found in various tissues including muscles and fat. This difference can contribute to variations in side effects like weight gain. Always consult with a healthcare professional to determine the most suitable medication for your specific condition.
