The Taiping description of American Democracy made me laugh way more than it should have. The way that it sounds like they knew about it from a game of telephone. (which I imagine is the case)
Britain being affected by the American Civil War due to missing American cotton shows how, even back then, global interconnectedness meant a civil war in one area could have effects even in places not directly ravaged by war. Also, Go Victorious Army!

Something I find funny is that the American civil war is a rebellion (a nation wanting to become independent) and the taiping rebellion is a civil war (two groups fighting to take control of one nation) it’s a little forced but I find cool.
The Taipings assessment of foreign powers was actually really charming. Its the idealised versions of what these nations really should be. Apart from Germany and France of course, which were kinda insulting 😅
Rengan: *Observes Indian Reservations* See! Americans are a very generous people! Even gave these Indian tribes little countries of their own, very admirable! Native Americans: This guy 💀
Imagine what would have happened to the UK if it had supported the Confederacy and the Taiping instead of the US and the Qing Dynasty who in the end still lost. How would it affect her image in the US and China ? and more importantly, how would it affect her interests and herself?
Confederates would make a useful proxy, but them being pro Slavery would hurt the image of Parliament after spending so long pushing abolishing slavery. That was ultimately the biggest hang up the CSA had.
Make a video about tsar Kaloyan, ruler over Bulgaria in 12 to 13 century. Don’t forget about Baldwin, crustal person in whole Europe and a trophy for Kaloyan.
0:42 This video is gonna be intriguing 😂 Also, was that a Filipino i saw? A Filipino countryball? Yep it was 😂 Filipinos, they're one of the many peoples who are GLOBAL. 3:31 wish he joined the Taiping Rebellion 😢 How interesting it would've been if The Heavenly Sky of the Heavenly Taiping Kingdom won the War.
Was 19th century filibusterism a side-effect of how unregulated trade was at the time? You really could equip a force with better weaponry than a first-rate military off the open market if you were rich enough, while after the early 20th century all the best stuff requires government patronage.
The American description made me and my friends laugh as we know that’s it’s the idealistic view we Americans had and want to promote but know it’s bull

The American civil war had also indirectly helped caused the Russian civil war to kick off

12:14 Is that a "The Ottoman Empire but it's Sr Pelo references" bit I see there? You, good sir, have great taste.
The taiping rebellion is so underrated it deserves more attention thank you callmeEzekiel

Unrated? I think it's supposed to be "Underrated". 😅
Thanks covering the china's civilwar i had no idea that these events happened 🎖️

Ward and the Ever Victorious Army would make a killer HBO series
I like this video a lot, it’s interesting to see these small blips of history that add a lot of depth to the conflict as a whole

Heads up, Lancashire isn't a city but a county region; it has cities & towns within it as well as very rural areas.
Could you make an episode about the Boxer Rebellion

Hell yeah! Nice one Zeke, was hoping for a Fred Ward episode ^^
🎖 You need to do a video on Charles Gorden alone. His story is incredible and he is one of the greatest adventurers of the 19th Century. 🎖

Nice pfp. I miss that series.
Somehow the vampire fleet having been led by someone named Osborne just makes sense.
Ward also fought for William Walker in his invasion of Sonora in 1853.
Thanks Ezekiel!
I searched the internet and apparently nobody can be bothered to explain where "The Vampire Fleet" got its name from.
Maybe a commentary about blood suckers selling war material to nations in crisis or something.
