Despite lack of recovery, it has one important move: Explosion. Explosion is a big deal bcuz back then, it had effectively 500 Base Power, and pair that with 110 attack, Ye that’s a nuke. 3. Exeggutor. As mentioned in the video, it had excellent physical bulk, a psychic typing, grass to resist ground. It also had Explosion and Stab Psychic, and most importantly Sleep Powder. Sleeping something is really good in any scenario, as it makes for dangerous scenario such as a Lower health Chansey needing to be preserved les the enemy gets Amnesia Slowbro to sweep and so on. 4. Chansey. Another mon with high hp and special. It has reliable recovery, normal typing make it neutral to hits, does dmg back, and has many moves. Other good Pokémon include the psychics in the video, Rhydon and Zapdos, but overall, you shld at least have 4 or more of these Pokémon included in your team, if not you are missing out.

Normal types are the top 3 in the tier, psychics are all beneath the normal types. Care to explain? Also: Chansey is often a better check to mewtwo, and Mew WISHES it was a normal type.
Yes and the 4th best normal type after those 3 (Persian) is considered less viable in UU than Kadabra which isn't even fully evolved. The big 3 are extreme outliers, the rest of the normal types are generally mediocre at best despite normal having a near monopoly on good physical attacking moves. Chansey isn't strong because of its typing but because of its stats. It would actually be stronger as a psychic type due to the added resists to fighting/psychic. Being paralyzable by body slam would be a downside but you aren't trying to take those on your Chansey anyway, plus it stops you getting frozen by blizzards. Mew wishes it was normal type because it most often runs a physical set with SD and psychic is a special type, not because the type itself is better. Mew would also prefer to be a ground type for STAB EQ but you wouldn't claim that ground is a better type than psychic
Normal types are strong cuz the psychic types being so omnipresent that fighting types aren't seen in OU beyond the odd Machamp. So normal effectively had no weaknesses
Fun fact: In the JP versions of the game, Blizzard had a 30% chance to freeze. So, there was a 30% chance that being hit by Blizzard would take you out of the fight entirely.

You know they say that all Pokemon are created equal, but you look at Mewtwo, and you look at the metagame, and you can see that statement is not true. See, normally if you go one on one with another Pokemon, you got a 50/50 chance of winning. But Mewtwo's a genetic freak, and it's not normal! So you got a 25%, AT BEST, at beat it. Then you add Alakazam to the mix, your chances of winning drastic go down. See in this 3 way, you got a 33 1/3 chance of winning, but Mewtwo's got a 66 and 2/3 chance of winning, because Kazam KNOWS it can't beat Mewtwo, and it ain't even gonna try! So, you take your 33 1/3 chance, minus the 25% chance and you got an 8 1/3 chance of winning. But then you take its 75% chance of winning, if you were going one on one, and then add 66 2/3 per cents, Mewtwo's got a 141 2/3 chance of winning. See, the numbers don't lie, and they spell disaster for you at Sacrifice.
If Mewtwo and Mew didn't exist, I'd say Normal >= Psychic in Gen 1, and therefore in Gen 1 OU. But only cuz Tauros, Snorlax and Chansey. Psychics are wider tho, hard to tell.
The garbage gen 1 code reapplied burn and para stat drops if the statused pokemon got their stats dropped by an enemy attack; in the example scenario, Slowbro lowering Alakazam's Special quartered its speed again, thus making it slower than Slowbro.
It gets even crazier once you include boosting your stats in the equation, but listing the whole thing here would take ages. If you're interested there's a whole section on RBY stat modifications, along with a calculator for badge boost glitching on the site The Cave of Dragonflies (not writing down the link because YT is very weird with that, and often deletes the comment).

Oh, I know ANYTHING
but I might not
If Mewtwo and Mew didn't exist, I'd say Normal >= Psychic in Gen 1, and therefore in Gen 1 OU. But only cuz Tauros, Snorlax and Chansey. Psychics are wider tho, hard to tell.
I didn’t understand the whole psychic paralysis speed thing (slowbro being faster than alakazam). Can someone explain?
The garbage gen 1 code reapplied burn and para stat drops if the statused pokemon got their stats dropped by an enemy attack; in the example scenario, Slowbro lowering Alakazam's Special quartered its speed again, thus making it slower than Slowbro.
@@darkfiredragon3410 More than a decade playing Pokémon and I never knew that fact😂. Thanks!
Wait, how does Slowbro outspeed Alakazam on a special drop if they're both paralyzed?
in gen 1, if you get a stat drop while paralyzed you go comically fast for some fucking reason
How come pokemon analysis has gotten so popular lately
Because we are all live in a Pokemon world
If Dark types were introduced in gen 1 then everything will be balanced
Past Psychic Type: Gods.
Modern Psychic Types: I saw a big bug, it stared at me back and I imploded from the pressure.
It was dark outside and I only cried for twenty minutes.
I saw a ghost once, it slapped me and took my wallet.
Crazy to think that Psychic is now one of the worst types in the game
How the mighty have fallen
you never thaw in gen 1!? holy crap!
Gen 1 was riddled with bugs and glitches its wild. Like how Body Slam can't paralyze Normal types and Psychic being immune to Ghost and Bug being SE to Poison
Yo aim please try these kinds of sets I’m doing phenomenal with they’re mad niche

What about video after future generations that influences older generation metagames?
The first innovation I could think of is Knock Off.
Mannn this video is twenty years too late! I already beat these games
I’d love to see you climb gen 6/7 ladders Megas are just so fun
It's funny how Gen 1 psychic type is so strong that, while it is the most powerful type, it's not the best. Since the actual best mons are banned and they are so goid that they check themselves.
However, the normies are slightly weaker as a type but have just like 3 resist that they can kill with something other than normal. Also, better stab moves overall.
Psychic and dragon types welcoming fairies into the room of the most op types : Soon game freak will nerf you so bad a new type will become op and you will be mid
Even still, it's amazing that Normal is at their level or higher, fair and square! Well, Fighting is also garbage, so...
Imagine Lugia in gen 1
psychic is actually immune to ghost in gen 1
You wanted to avoid fighting them at all costs in Gen 1 😂😢
I feel like everyone who has even remotely followed pokemon is well aware of all the content in this video, as opposed to your other ones that were actually educational.
You literally can’t assume this lmao
gen 1 the best
Day 3 asking for the biggest meme I have with one of my bros: Choice Band Reuniclus
Psychic types are broken in gen 1
