Baby pokemons aren't just about their base stats. What's more important is the design and the relationship between the pokemon and the baby. and I need baby grimer right now. It's adorable.
I mean yeah but when you think about it some baby pokemon have no reason to exist in a more logical manner. sure they're cute, but if, say, all two-stage non-legendary lines got a baby form, most of those would end up too much like their evolved form. for example the beta ponyta that got cut was, indeed, a ponyta with less fire. also think about cleffa and azurill, same situation, looks to similar. another minor problem is that if baby pokemon are added to existing lines, some pokemon would be increasingly harder to get. I heard in some games the only way to get a roselia (other than trading) is by friendship evolving budew, so it every baby needed friendship to evolve, it would be likely many pokemon would be locked behind a friendship wall. that being said, I do see the reason for some other baby forms to exist, maybe some the later gens. (also ru chinese I can tell from the name)
Even tho I understand baby Pokémon are pretty much useless for the most part, I just like them. Especially if it’s an excuse to shoehorn in a more powerful evolutionary line in early. Ex. If Lapras for whatever reason got a baby form, maybe you can get it early on by rare encounter with fishing rod. Then you can raise that Pokémon and have it with you for most of the game causing a closer bond and being able to monitor its move set more closely. I also like baby Pokémon for design reasons and also because they can make a line feel more complete. Again I understand baby Pokémon don’t reslly need to exist in a lot of scenarios, but that’s just how i feel. I don’t mind a lot of the beta baby forms because they’re good designs and being more attention to more unpopular lines. Some are pretty bad but a lot are super cute and I love them. I do understand a lot were unneeded tho :(
yeah, chingling, igglybuff, cleffa, and azurill have no need to exist, however your concept is really interesting, but there are drawbacks. for example, one of my favorite mons is lucario, and I've been trying to find a riolu in legends arceus for so long. but say I got it. I still need to grind tons of friendship on it to evolve. people like me don't have time to grind all day long, tho, so to get lucario, I would need to spend an unnecessary amount of time to just evolve it, let alone catching it up to my team. that being said, I still think more baby pokemon will be good for pokemon in the high 400s or low 500s (like scyther or pinsir, or some mon in the later gens) but not locked behind a friendship wall

I think my argument against preevolutions being harmful to the line is with how they could alter the stats to make it a smoother transition. Granted, they haven't always done that, but they could, and in my opinion, should. Chingling would have been more loved, if it heightened the stats of Chimecho, imo.

Pupitar is just growing a shell and Tyranitar doesn't grow the shell anymore so it breaks and a Tyranitar that just evolved in the anime should have Pupitar shell pieces all over the body randomly. So Pupitar has arms but it's not visible. That's how Pupitar is more of an awkward stage than a pupa stage of the metamorphosis. And Larvitar is just a tiny Tyranitar with less spikes.

I have this idea to give Baby Doduo (Keewee) two forms, with two and three heads respectively, randomly determined upon hatching. Both forms evolve into Doduo, but when the three-headed form evolves and the player has both a free slot and a Poké Ball in their inventory; just like with Shedinja, a new Pokémon appears on their team: Dosolo, which is the kiwi beta Pokémon with a typing of Ghost/Flying.
Beta Bayleef is freaking adorable. I wish it was in the games as a single, no-evolution Pokemon. I WANT IT SO BAD ;V; ITS SO CUTE!! IT EVEN HAS A CUTE NAME; BLOSSOMOLE! AAAAA
Wait, the 1st one is a beta Hitmontop. Sure a very early beta and before they decided to make it a part of the Hitmons but it’s still an early form of Hitmontop and therefore made it into the game.
It’s actually a beta venusaur, as it was just a two stage at the time, however it uses the name of ivysaur. Kind of implying they thought the jump was too much so they repurposed ivysaur’s design and gave it a new name.
i wish baby tangela wasn’t scrapped because now there’s tangrowth which is a really good pokemon so a weaker form might work and also the design is great
6:56 Ok, I always loved Bayleef. Like, a lot. I don’t know why, I just do. But seeing this comparison, and seeing what Bayleef could’ve been makes me love the modern one even more.
I agree, the beta version is just..... extremely out of place. This is even more so when you realize that the other stages in it's evolutionary line are unchanged. ......I also have something of a soft spot for it because I used it as my starter the first time I played through a gen2 game as a kid. Not really sure why I went with it, but I did; it was the first Pokemon I raised all the way to level 100 on my own, too!
I believe that the beta evolution of Porygon would make sense since it would be a representation of how data could be changed into something completely different given enough time for a programmer. I also don't believe that Beta Hitmontop is naturally always balancing itself given the legs.
I lowkey adore the Baby Evolutions for Doduo and Meowth... The Doduo one's body looks like a nest, with its heads resembling baby birds sitting in it (which is such a cute idea imo). And _come ooon_ Baby Meowth is just cuteness incarnate!
5:58 - You know what's funny about you saying that the beta Hoppip and Oddish looked too similar is that there was a Johto Journeys episode where there was an Oddish that wanted to be a Hoppip so bad that it painted itself pink and jumped off of high places and hurt itself a bunch of times. I forgot what the episode was called. But it's funny, heartfelt, and cute things like this that make the Pokémon anime so good.
The beta Doduo line could represent the fact that mother birds usually will care for the runt less then the other two baby birds, so it's rare that the runt will survive, but if it survives to become an adult, they can become bigger and stronger than they were as the runt
Imagine, all three baby doduos, living their life and then are caught by a trainer, one gets its heat stuck up its butt and the other two evolve, and then it gets its head out of its butt and the evolve again. Wow.
Honestly I like the idea of baby pokemon to pokemon that are too “big” or “adult like”, like... Tauros, Lapras, Kangaskhan, Sawk and Thro, etc. To me it’s just weird the idea that they are born... like... looking like an adult. Also, the fact that Kangaskhan is born with a baby on her pouch is unsettling.
They are actually really cute but probably super useless. It could be cute if you just don't battle with them and just carry the babies instead of eggs. I mean how can a cat lay eggs anyway?
@@a_sapphic_girl4566 Haha, though it would be interesting if they added a second part of hatching the eggs. At least in the Anime. It could be cute. Baby Lugia was adorable.
I believe it was said at some point the devs really thought baby Pokemon would have been a lot more popular than they ended up being. Battling between friends was still just a side feature so the baby Pokemon were meant for those who just liked having cute Pokemon even if they were weak and worthless in battle. They were never meant to be meta because at that time, there was no meta.
@@rainbowthedragoncat6768 You can say that about Remoraid but the final design of Octillery is literally just an octopus with the weird mouth that Japanese depictions give them.
I love baby pokemon. Baby Tangela is by far my favorite, but I would have really liked to see baby Vulpix since the one-tail design is canon in the pokemon mangas. I like the baby paras design, but I think it should just be Paras, same with baby Doduo, it's fun because Dodriou has three heads anyway and I find it weird when final evolution pokemon grow a new head.
True. I dont get why they do that and get likes. I mean, they literally just said something that the youtuber said in the video and write their name and the year the video was uploaded. They didn't say anything quirky, funny or even point out something. They just repeat. But what do I know? I guess I will never know the art of repeating.
@@dogefan12349 One:Ok, Im just saying that you didn't really say anything, you just reapeated something.Other people may enjoy that. Im just saying that i dont like those types of comments. And two,You have got good taste, watching MandJTV and Dobbs
I find it clever that they added the fact that Vulpix would have had a baby form in it's Pokedex. It talks about how when it's first born, it only has 3 tails. And then as it gets older, it's tails split into 6.
Huh, I think I understand the thought process behind baby pokemon now that I realize they were planning on making a ton of them. The idea was probably created when they realized they were going to introduce pokemon breeding, which made them think, 'oh, people will love this, maybe it would be really cute to have a bunch of baby forms that looks like they were just hatched out of an egg'. Then they realized slowly that creating a new baby pokemon for every single pokemon line just wasn't viable, and it wasn't a great mechanic anyway. So they scaled it back but kept some of the ones they worked on, never quite abandoning the idea altogether.

Wait, the 1st one is a beta Hitmontop. Sure a very early beta and before they decided to make it a part of the Hitmons but it’s still an early form of Hitmontop and therefore made it into the game.
I literally froze when I saw the Beta Ivysaur just as the background music stopped. What the heck?!
It’s actually a beta venusaur, as it was just a two stage at the time, however it uses the name of ivysaur. Kind of implying they thought the jump was too much so they repurposed ivysaur’s design and gave it a new name.
Mikey: Beta hopip looks to much like oddish
Jumpluff: am I a joke to you
I would like but 69 so yeah
i wish baby tangela wasn’t scrapped because now there’s tangrowth which is a really good pokemon so a weaker form might work and also the design is great
There was also a beta tangrowth, although it looked much different

Ok, I always loved Bayleef.
But Beta Bayleef is so adorable!! Just look at it!

I believe that the beta evolution of Porygon would make sense since it would be a representation of how data could be changed into something completely different given enough time for a programmer. I also don't believe that Beta Hitmontop is naturally always balancing itself given the legs.

That’s Beta Ivysaur!
...
And I thought the sprite of Golbat in red and blue was bad...
more like Beta Malnutritionsaur
Why does all of the early sprites of the bulbasaur line look like they are in severe pain.
If Beta Ivysaur was Ivysaur’s current design, The Bulbasaur line would’ve been replaced by the Rowlet line as my favorite Pokémon evolutionary line.
"Its a tiny antenna-chansey with an eye on its belly" made me laugh harder than I should have🤣

I lowkey adore the Baby Evolutions for Doduo and Meowth... The Doduo one's body looks like a nest, with its heads resembling baby birds sitting in it (which is such a cute idea imo). And _come ooon_ Baby Meowth is just cuteness incarnate!
Regardless of how incomplete it was, I'm so glad we finally got our hands on the SpaceWorld demo
11:12 Well yeah. And then when it evolves, the head has to come back out. This process has been known to terrorize a Togekiss or two.
And traumatize a trainer or two
Took me a second to get the "Traumatize a Togekiss" joke. XD
AGiLE-EaGLE1994 I get it. I DONT GET IT!

Hey Mike, Can you make a sequel video about the "Awesome Beta Pokémon that SHOULD be in the Games"?
The “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” spirit ingrained in me wants all of these.
Every time I see Dodrio
I'm reminded how cool it's design actually is.
I know right I think we bat it down too much
What about Kanazu?
we need a regional Dodrio that's a Dark/Fighting cassowary
The beta Doduo line could represent the fact that mother birds usually will care for the runt less then the other two baby birds, so it's rare that the runt will survive, but if it survives to become an adult, they can become bigger and stronger than they were as the runt
I love Beta Hoppip!!! Idc how close it is to Oddish! It’s so much cuter and so are the evolutions!
‘Looks to the left’

Das Messed Up
Actually its ''das ist vermasselt''
Imagine, all three baby doduos, living their life and then are caught by a trainer, one gets its heat stuck up its butt and the other two evolve, and then it gets its head out of its butt and the evolve again. Wow.
I take it that head seldom ends up being the happy one.
"Why tf you lion" got me
Honestly I like the idea of baby pokemon to pokemon that are too “big” or “adult like”, like... Tauros, Lapras, Kangaskhan, Sawk and Thro, etc. To me it’s just weird the idea that they are born... like... looking like an adult.
Also, the fact that Kangaskhan is born with a baby on her pouch is unsettling.
Aphids are born already pregnant
Tauros and Miltank should get a shared pre-evolution. It just makes sense that a cow and bull would be gender counterparts.
@@dracodracarys2339 I absolutely love this idea! I also think Sawk and Thro should get their version of “Tyrogue”, connecting them to one another.
Why are baby Doduo, Meowth, and Grimer actually lovable, i’d love to see them 👀
I thought baby vulpix was freaking adorable
Baby meowth! Sleepy lil kitty
They are actually really cute but probably super useless. It could be cute if you just don't battle with them and just carry the babies instead of eggs. I mean how can a cat lay eggs anyway?
Shastasnow How can a newborn vulpix give birth with a ditto? Anything can work if you are heartless enough to shiny hunt
@@a_sapphic_girl4566 Haha, though it would be interesting if they added a second part of hatching the eggs. At least in the Anime. It could be cute. Baby Lugia was adorable.
I only saw a Cat Oddish, a Vulpix with some nice hair, And a demon on the thumbnail. Anybody else?

Hi best friend UwU
It would be an earlier Ghost Fighting type because it's so creepy
When you showed the Ivysaur I did look at it with an expression like: "What the hell is that" and then you said; "I know". It made me laugh so hard 😂

And so is Remoraid evolving into Octillery.
It's makes sense not because of there animal aspects, but because of there firearm aspect.
Remoraid is supposed to look like a bullet from a revolver and octillary is a turret
@@fiklan5254 Correction: Remoraid is the revolver itself. Also, that version (unfortunately) went unused so we can't use that.
@@cryptidliker5294 Wdym unused? It's still a gun and a turret, just very subtle.

Salamo- What?
