    On my Clam I used small carabiners tied to the tie down cord. This allows me to unclip the tie down, drop the wall in to place and then re-clip the tie down. This being done in seconds, saving time when it's pouring rain out.

    You should put the half wall up under so no rain will fill the panel-still can hook it up. Also, roll the panels under & up to keep any rain rolling off.

    Thanks for the shout-out, Cosmo. Those seams *definitely* need sealed on the Venture and Traveler models. I was testing it first because I was hopeful that I wouldn't need to do it but it's really just best to seal them right when you take the Clam out of the box. It's just like a tent, only bigger and nicer. They do use seam tape but it's obviously not enough protection.
    I'm glad you decided to give the rings a chance for the tie-outs. I think it may even say in the manual that those are your lash points. The handles are just for pulling out the side walls.
    Great video. I'm glad to see you had a nice trip and were able to stay cool with that new fan. I love my Boundless Breeze. Thanks again for the suggestion. 🕊😘

      Nice Robert. Not sure which model you purchased. I have a traveler and a Sky with another model coming soon. Adds a lot of living space to the trailer. I also used it several times in the back yard to entertain last summer at safe social distance with plenty of air flow. Looks like this summer will be using it again to keep the virus at a safe distance. Ha ha ha. Regards =Cosmo

      My clamshell tent arrived today Very disappointed.
      I don't know how they did it But that thing was packaged inside out when I went to set it up The fabric was all twisted up I managed to get most of it untwisted but still have one leg to go after two hours probably would be easier with two people to get this thing untwisted but hopefully I get it tomorrow otherwise I have to send it back I don't want to break it.

      Im trying to visionate what is happening. Inside out? Something is not right There are many videos of this thing going up. Mine takes about a min to get up. Its the easiest structure I have put up to date. Good Luck! =Cosmo

      They do look like they are inside out when they arrive, but if you follow the instructions & stand it on its hub like an upside down umbrella, it will fall open properly. Unless someone else messed it up & sent it back all messed up, and you were unlucky enough to get that one. 😫 Quick Set has a very good instructional video on UA-cam.

    First thank you for all of your great videos on the gear that you use. I have been camping for 50 years and I still learn something everytime I look at one of your videos. BTW - I know that you are a tear drop camper - but your information is useful to my wife and I in our class B. Now to my question on this video - I bought a Clam Quick Set based on your videos ... on this one you mention a metal clip that attaches to the hub ... no details provided ... I cannot find this item anywhere. Do you have more details?

      Thanks Carl. That metal loop comes built in with the Clam Shelter. I have the Traveler, Sky and Venture. All of them have it. I did not buy anything extra or install anything. It is used to hold out the hub/wall in wind with a rope. What model do you have? =Cosmo

      i set up in the rain this past weekend in the poconos. asyou report the shelter provided excellent cover even without the sides ( heavy rain but no wind ).
      i am looking into the rainfly option for addition roof protrction plus it seems to give additional material over the attactment for the side panels. will report back.

    Here's what we did with the smallest 4 sided clam. Sealed roof seams, sprayed roof with silicone water proofing, covered roof with aluminet and placed a tennis ball on center roof eye and used foam pool noodles to create space between aluminet and roof to prevent heat build up and allow air flow, sprayed screening with permethrin. Also purchased clear tarp to cover door opening and allow light and heat from sun to help warm shelter on cold days, although haven't had to try this out yet. Thanks for you videos and suggestions.

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Jud, Thanks for dropping in. I want to make sure I understand. You are using the pool noodles to lift the top fly and create an air flow gap between the top screen and the top fly? Thank YOU =Cosmo

    • @judsimonson9087
      @judsimonson9087 4 роки тому +2

      @@CosmoWeems Yes, between the clam roof and the reflective aluminet to help prevent heat buildup. The noodles are light weight, easy to carry and won't damage the clam roof. I'm sure there are other ways; that was a quick cheap fix.

    You can also just have the walls up half way from the bottom to the hub height.

    We use a tarpb over the top for absolute rain proofing. A 12 x 12 blue tarp with silver underside gives the impression of a blue sky above with leaf/branch patterns as an extra

    We have two clams, my wife noticed a large gash in her clam she uses for work any repair tips

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  4 роки тому

      Hi ECDAO / Nice his and hers arrangement. Careful moving them ( they dont like to be banged around )metal and fabric... we know who wins) and piling stuff on them, My guess is the metal hub is the cause. Mine came with fabric squares to cover the hubs, you slip on the fabric and put the rubber band on to hold it in place. To repair you have a few options. There are repair tapes but they are not permanent solutions in my opinion. I would use some waterproof nylon fabric and sew it on then seal it with this stuff. amzn.to/3gBaSQ3 or amzn.to/3gBb5mj Wear gloves and work outdoors - let it dry for 24 hours. It will be good as new. The Clam is not using silicone water proofing. It is Urethane. U mention that because they use different chemicals. I would apply the patch to the outside not the inside. Good luck. Repairs wont take that long. Good Luck =Cosmo

      Other than that she is a fine woman. There is not much that cant be fixed on fabric. Screen seams etc. I would talk to a tailor or someone who knows fabric and do it by hand.
