I will never forget when I was 9 years old and I saw my first 1992 Viper RT/10 at Rothrock Dodge in Allentown, PA. It was bright red and I went nuts on it. Then, when I was about 19 I got the chance to drive a 3rd gen Viper while I owned a commercial cleaning company and had a contract for a local Dodge dealership and they let me take it for a spin. I also got a chance to drice a Ram SRT-10 from a different dealership. It was red, with a six speed manual, and it was their first Viper powered Ram. I pulled up in a Ford Festiva (I had four different cars back then and the Festiva was the most reliable), and as soon as I stopped the salesman saw me and said dude, I know you want to drive this Ram! That was an awesome time, and I could tell that salesman just wanted to kill his boredom, but couldn't justify driving it himself. Also, when I was 17 and I lived in Florida, I was going through chemotherapy with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and I met a guy who owned a nightclub in Ybor City in downtown Tampa, and he was so cool that he let me drive his 1998 Viper GTS. He also let me ride his brand new Ducati 1200RR while he chased me on his Kawaksaki Ninja.

For the headlights you could wet sand the paint off go up to a fine grit and cover it with PPF. I did this on a pair of mine and it has been holding and and still looks new and I it's been four years since I did it.

Well done, Caroline. It was a wonderful surprise for a wonderful dad. At least your gasoline prices are reasonable. Here in Christchurch NZ, we pay around $13.00 a gallon, and Premium is around $3.20 a liter (quart). I wish you and James many miles and smiles, and truly hope he achieves his goal of another 100,000 miles before his time is up (as he put it).

That’s my local Walmart and I know that because I seen someone who looked exactly like you in the store and I’m like “nah, can’t be, why hear this time of year?” I knew this channel was from down south, so I immediately dismissed it. Then when I was leaving I seen the viper and thought “awesome a freaking GTS in the middle of winter!”

THIS. WAS. SO. EPIC! Nearly 2000 miles on a road trip in a basically untested car, and one of the greatest American sports/muscle cars ever made, all to get the truly priceless reaction from James, and get to fulfill one of his lifetime dreams, and top it all off with keeping it a surprise the whole time, absolutely amazing!

I have a 2005 SRT-10, and whenever it comes to parts you have to resign yourself to the reality that even when the parts are available, virtually nothing you need will be on the shelf and you'll have to wait a few days at least.
Its not the people in MN are Viper fans, its that no one sees a Viper in MN from Nov 1st to Apr 1st, so they automatically think you're a celebrity. 😄

When you (Caroline) moved into a business unit next to James with Rebels Navy. And your car back then was basically rusted to the point it almost collapsed.

My dad passed away in 2019 before I could make anything of my self. I’m so sad I can’t do anything like this for him, but very nice video brought a tear to my eye.

I have been trying very hard to forget about the viper, one of my favorite cars of all time, and here you go and make a video about the gts, kidding aside I love what you are doing for your dad, and I guess when I retire some of my retirement money is going for a down payment on a viper, it is your fault. My dad all while I was growing up, always wanted a Gran Torino drag car that was street legal I guess you can say a pro touring version, so when I got old enough to go to work, after I got a job the first thing I bought was a Gran Torino and I brought it home to Pop's and told him we're going to make you that pro touring Grand Torino you've always wanted, and he wouldn't let me do it because he said the car was too nice two dismantle😮
Still a cool story, but a Torino as a drag car is pretty badass too. Thanks for watching and sending us great comments every video! :)

I once spent a January in Zion Illinois. Being from West Texas, no thank you. About zero degrees for days..... it's no wonder them folks drink so much. I never had any kids, just wasn't in the cards. {wife/cancer/CCoA in Zion} This lets me know what I've missed. Great episode Caroline.

@HHWheels getting in and out required a shoehorn but once in, I fit, unlike a Miata which I can't fit into.

after you used the thinner that is going to dull the plastic lights. Should have grabbed a headlight "restoration " kit from rain x or nulens. Take maybe 10 min on each light would come out beautiful . Usually the odd tire size they are running because they running the sticky rears and most tire mfg's dont make a 335 in that rim size with those sticky tires so they run the 315 which they do .I have that with my C6 Zr1 same issue but i have two sets of rims. Those 315's will do for now you can always go back up to the 335's . the car is rough .. its for sure a fixer upper so leaks and other things until the car gets a little love, is going to be raw.
Even on brand new tires, driving a Viper in any kind of weather is ballsy, to say the least.

You could of drove to tire rack's giant wear house in south bend Indiana (which is next to chicago) and more than likely they they'll have your tire size more than anyone else. AND THEY'LL install them at there wearhouse. I've bought tires there. That tire wearhouse building is collossal size.

I drove Denver to Miami, non-stop, twice in a week. Once with a 26ft UHaul that took 40 hours, and once in a Suburban that took 35 hours.
And by non-stop, I mean that I only stopped for gas. I grabbed food and bathroom breaks whenever I stopped for gas. No sleep, just pushed through.
Also, I was by myself, so I didn't have any copilots.
Maybe I should do another non-stop drive, and record it. 🤔
Wow what an epic journey and for a rough one it don't look to bad to be honest it's had a hard life but it's sounds mechanically great get it on a drag and drive week bet you 2 would have a blast in it

Everyone loves a Viper. A pitty they were never sold new here in Australia, although there are a few of them here, they're not cheap - 87k is the cheapest I could find and it's not even a GTS.

Wow this was amazing. I bought my Gen 2 Viper last year and it was the cheapest one I could find in Canada that wasn't a salvage title and had decent low'ish miles on it. I've been saving and wanting this car since I was in highschool when we played it on PSone OG Gran Turismo 23 years ago. Now I plan on keeping it for a very long time. It really is a special car! I couldnt afford a GTS and went with a RT/10 which BTW has AC! As soon as I can get it fixed that is. :)

I'm not sure if the motor has been taken apart. I'm pretty sure it was the exhaust, but it does sound damn good.
