Something tells me your old man is so excited you share his passion. Live it up. He's all for what you want to do here as you both enjoy the ride and he smiles ear to ear knowing his daughter actually appreciates what he is into. (Trust me, that is hard to find).
I love how you guys are basically doing projects to make each other happy and proud. It's a dynamic that I can't get enough of, and that's what makes you an excellent family.
Caroline I totally think that you are absolutely a awesome person who any father would be so proud to have you as a daughter love you Rocky Benedetto from Massachusetts 😊
Some "females" car channels get on here and flash skin more than they flash the FuelTech system. This girl is a real mechanic. No fluff. Just real car content. With a great soundtrack. 👍
My first car was a 66 Chevelle in '79. It cost a whopping $350. Had a 283 3 speed manual, from red light to red light it was a blast. Best roof line ever designed.
Me too I'm thinking about changing my 305 motor to a 454 in my 1978 two-door Caprice classic with 63 original thousand miles and like you said it makes no sense but then again it makes a lot of sense 454 big block Chevy😮😅😂😂❤
To get that key cylinder out you have to turn the switch on accessory then push the pin in that little hole and turn it past accessory to the left and it will come out
James, I hope you know how lucky you are to have such an awesome daughter who takes an interest in the car hobby. My daughter never cared to learn, even when I got her a 1973 Super Beetle and ended up restoring it myself. The silver lining is that at least she can drive stick.
Had a 70 malibu in 77 with a 350 2 barrel and a 3 on the tree i bought for 100.00 from a customer when i was a mechanic in Rochester mn. I was 21 years old and it was my first race car project. I put a LS6 454 with a turbo 400 and 4.56 gears in it and ran 12.50's off the trailer, re-cammed it and installed a HEI distributor and ran 12.20's with a 3500 lb car! It was my alternative to drinking and doing drugs, and it never owed me a dime!
But remember Caroline the sooner you put some foot into that 454 that powerglide going to explode you need to put a 400 turbo transmission into the car instead of leaving the powerglide 2-speed😢❤
I agree with you. I wouldn't waste my time with that power glide.. That isn't the right move. They were talking about springs. Lol.that is the least of the worries.
Everything you guys touch turns amazing!! Can't wait to see the transformation! Good call on the big block! Love you guys always! 🤘🙌😊 make it legendary!
@@HHWheels You are very welcome! thank you for providing this awesome content. You guys are so cool. I don't have have a daughter, but as a car guy, It would be cool it she was like Caroline.
you were a very lucky young lady cutting those mufflers off like that. my wife did that in that kind of top and got hot chunks of metal down between them! Never saw her come out of her shirt that fast in my life. :)

A suggestion for the interior of the Chevelle ...... Paul Cox, FAB RATS is building a WILLYS and the interior was stripped so after a clean up he contacted the guys who insulated his shop with spray in foam and it worked great
Next time Caroline just tried the keys before you remove the ignition in the Malibu just take the keys out of the Nova and use them in the Malibu maybe it'll open you never know😮😂
I had a 67 Malibu that my best friend gave me. I was working on it at my brother's house. I went back over there the next weekend and found out that he sold it. I didn't speak to him for about 15 years.
I have a 66 chevelle malibu. 327 power glide. Swapped for 396 and th350. Funny part i drilled out ignition and found keys on passenger side floor board. Pissed me off. Great build you guys.
That 2sp is childs play to put a high torque rebuild kit in.😂 my buddy Pat ran a Power Glide in a 11 sec car for 3 yrs of track time!! Kit was 750 bucks .
I lived in Vallejo for a few years when I got transferred up there for work, being from the LA area it was… different lol, curious to see where you guys are in the next one
The 66 Chevelle Malibu didn't have the extra bracing as the 66 Chevelle Super Sport did , so prepare for the Frame to have Stress cracks with that big block 454 !
I ran across your channel and I really like the content that you all are putting out so I just had to subscribe. Keep up the good work and Caroline, you are a hell of a mechanic.
If youre looking for accessory brackets and would be alright with a serpentine setup, Kwik Performance offers a bracket kit and options for using small block chevy serpentine setups on big block chevys
I was looking for the external weight on the flywheel and did not see it, maybe just camera angle but 454 are external balance so I hope it has it. Any way keep up the work on the old girl.
Serious question. The black paint in the engine bay. Whats the risk here painting over the rust? Better to have something and sealed or is this going to lock in the rust and make things worse?
In an engine bay, since it’s covered with a hood, it isn’t bad. All the rust in there is surface rust, so it shouldn’t have problem. If it were to be deeper rust or all the way through, we’d use something like POR15 Or a rust preventative paint to stop the rust. On the exterior, that’s a completely different animal. We’d for sure use a more lasting solution since it will be exposed to more elements! Thanks for watching!
@@HHWheels Oh wow, thanks for the response! I’m a Kiwi living in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Getting hold of classic American V8s here is impossible unless you’re a multimillionaire. Back in the day, we had a decent supply of less powerful Holdens, Fords, and Valiants with four or six-cylinder engines that working-class folks could wrench on. But these days, even rusted-out project Holdens will set you back $10,000-$20,000-and you’re looking at another $30,000 to get them roadworthy. We do have some cheaper British and European cars floating around-Fiats, Vauxhalls, Singers, Triumphs, Humbers... I’m planning to fly over to Adelaide to rescue a 1960s Vauxhall Victor F Series. Vauxhall was owned by Chevy when they developed this model, and it’s essentially a '57 Chevy cut in half: half the size, with a straight-four engine that’s basically their V8 split in two, three on the tree. It’ll be slow, temperamental, and absolutely beautiful. I’ve noticed some surface rust in the engine bay, so I’ll need to stay on top of that. I’m not aiming for a full restoration, but rust has a way of forcing your hand if you leave it unchecked! Great series - looking forward to what's next for this build.
