Next video on this car we are gonna check the compression and go from there. I’m betting glitter is rod bearing material. Thankfully this is a common issue and typically a new set of rod bearings will fix this.
Also after reviewing video it’s becoming more evident to me the rough idle/low power is most likely from a high pressure fuel pump failure.
All speculation, can’t wait to dig into this more.

BMW conveniently installed a large portion of the electronics in the passenger side foot well area. The wire harness alone is probably compromised.

I just found your channel, so I don’t know how much experience you have with BMWs. I haven’t worked on this specific model, but there are often several electronic modules under the seats. With that much water on the passenger side, those are most likely fried. Take the seat out and pull the carpet up to see what has been compromised. Also, some issues will usually trigger other codes. Look into using ISTA rather than the scanner you are using. Although that’s a nice scanner, getting the BMW specific codes will be help more in the long run.

Gas maybe can make problems cuz when it stays that long octane of the gas number go low bmw is caprices on a battery so be sure that the one you put is the one that it needs for the model the car has the legendary engine from m5 e60 v10 😍 but from the video maybe microphone recording it bad it sounds very bad 😐 not like m6 507 hp is the engine on the m5 model I think it had little difference at m6 low but not much horse power I don’t remeber well but if you fix it it you will have great fun with that car 😏 check bmw forums it has allot of information about this cars weak points what to watched before years I read this I don’t remeber all the things at moment but car is really good I am sure you will fix it and will have a great fun with her

First thing to do is to remove all the water, then access and unplug every single module in the car, check for corrosion, and dry everything out.
These run dual DME as well, one for each bank, sounds like one side isn't operating, check plug connections for that too.

I own and restoring a 04 BMW e66 7 series with 281k miles! and tip take the seats out and vacuum the water out let it dry out there are sensors under the floor that's more likely wet as i discovered in my 7 series but the main one to look at is under the rear seat it's called a PT CAN sensor it helps control the gear shift and transmission module. I hear it revving and barely moving meaning that, that sensor is wet IF this car has the same sensor as mine. all the module in this era of BMW is run by fiber optic. if you see corrosion, I just use rubbing alcohol to help clean and dissolve the water. I'm going to be bias and say I think it can be saved lol that's just me who loves BMWs good luck and i use a software call INPA AND ISTA that's meant for BMW to control a lot of stuff and module resets

Heads up: this is a 45 min german video with moderately translated, automatic subtitles available. Also you need a mega account that lets you download big files, and a windows laptop to run ISTA. But I even got it to run on Windows 11 pro.
Hope you get the car running, although this spoiled person probably ran the rod bearings into the ground. These engines are worth a lot here in Germany. My brother sold one last year for 6000€ without attachments, turning over, no apparent damage but otherwise unknown condition.
      Good Luck!

When you open the door and hear pump running, its actually the smg pump running until it reached the operating pressure it stopped. It normal to hear that, make sure when you drive, always close the door, once you open the door it will blink, and gear will disengage until you close the door which is how the smg system works. I highly recommended you study those smg system and also anything maintenance that required before you spend replacing parts on that car. Good luck brotha!

Love Beamers! I have owned several M3s & a M5. Love your enthusiasm & I’d be surprised if any cautionary advice would change what’s set in your mind & heart. I would simply suggest playing back this video & take note of your own mechanical observations. Listen, unless what you’re looking for is an expensive rebuild. Price a running one with comparable miles & options. If the difference of the rebuild is more than the operating car… The answer seems simple. It’s hard when it’s personal though. That’s why this project is gonna be very expensive for you. Good luck! I’m sure everything will going to work out. With enough hard work, insufferable frustration & of course money almost anything is achievable.

Water is going to mess with everything, you need to get everything dry then go through every electrical connection, relay, module, fuse and connection otherwise the scanner is useless. You’ve already tracked the problem all the way back to it getting wet and now you have junk fuel to add to the list on top of rust on the rotors. Cool video I don’t envy the work involved on this repair!!

Love the content bro but man I'm sitting here so frustrated that you haven't emptied that swimming pool in the passenger side first. Endless electronics in there that will be shorted out. One electrical issue can cause 10 others elsewhere and start lighting the car up like a Christmas tree.
Engine won't go above a certain RPM if in limp mode so that is understandable. Brakes more than likely would be binding from being sat, so again would feel like brakes are on.
Vacuum the water out please! Remove engine covers and suck out all rodent crap nests etc too. Check for any wire damage.

Once you get enough missfires the ECM will disable the fuel injectors until you reset them via scanner.

@ my car is a 2010. It has the updated rod bearing from factory. People that had problem with s85 likely to report it but those who does not will not report it because the car has been reliable. It’s depends on how you drive and maintaining the car. There was a guy who put 200,000 miles on original bearing before he changed them out. If you do a lot of track day and rev the engine all the way to 8k rpm every now and then and never matter to wait until the engine is warm enough then you’re going to have to do it sooner otherwise the engine will blow up but if you’re sensible driver and allow the car to warm uop properly by keep the rpm below 3,000 rpm before operating temperature . You don’t really have much to worry about and many people who owned s85 engine doesn’t know this and wonder why the car take a huge dump. Anyway, I enjoyed the video. Thank you

Car was probably parked because of the transmission, the smg the trans in that car is basically a manual transmission and the clutch was destroyed that’s why it was acting like the brakes are pressed

Make sure to take out all the seats. Then cover them in leathergrease with a brush. THICK. Then let it sit for at least a week.

That will moisturize the seats. And preserve the leather. You will be surprized once you wipe them with some rags after a week.
