used to have an 8.3 in a f900 with jakes. not an exhaust brake but actual jakes from jacobs engine brake manufactures. was specially made for the peterbilt 330 tandem axel dump trucks
i see guys put those in pick up trucks but its stupid, there dogs, they dont like to rev, they tend to throw rods, their pump and governor needs to be changed out. basically anything you think your gonna do to thiis you can do to a 5.9 and get better results.
@@wrenchindiesels5076 Clearly? A core return is where the engine is remanufactured, which is exactly what I was indicating should be done with the motor in the first place. Taking the time to damage the motor further for what? Shits and giggles? Like I said. Waste of time and waste of motor.
@Steve Bentley No, that is not true. A core return is an engine returned that was replaced by a new replacement only engine. The core then needs to be destroyed ( 2" hole in the block), the serial plate taken off, and recorded. We then need to send proof to the EPA that the engine was destroyed. The engine would have been destroyed anyway for the EPA, not rebuilt.
Think we need to check the definition of grenading
We got a 2015 tier II 8.3 and it just blew up
Why didn’t you crank it back up?

Sounded like it already had a dead hole when it was cranking
No, it was definitely running on all 6. If it would have had a dead miss it wouldn't have ran near that good.
It definitely had low compression on one hole
Why did you guys do that?
The engine was a core return with like 50,000 hrs, it was worn out.
@@wrenchindiesels5076 Children in Africa could've used it lol
@@wrenchindiesels5076man the Detroit’s we got running pumps been rebuilt at least 6 times in the past 13 years😂 things probably got over 60,000 hours

50k hrs? That's nothing for a prime power unit. A maintenance rebuild would have given this unit another 50k hrs. This was nothing but a waste.
You clearly don't understand how the EPA and core return engines system works.

50k hrs I would say that engine done its duty and done it well
a real engine would of lasted twice as long
8.3s are good engines
@@Jon-uj2uw no they actually suck
@@eaglessb52 how?
@@Jon-uj2uw an fpt would of lasted much longer they have a better fuel system as well as more power I work on both
@eaglessb52 what makes them suck, since you know?
That's NOT "GRENADING" that's "SEIZING" huge difference.
Absolutely senseless.
What a waste
