Whoa! I was playing around with a small tissue paper sample pack and thought of making my own colored tissue paper. I’m excited to see your approach. Love it. Had no idea this was a thing. Thanks!
Wow, Jane! Do you have time to tell us a little bit about how you stain tissue? Especially how you get the color and value variations? Edit: Wait! I found your tutorial from four years ago. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! Edit 2: Ahhhh, TWO tutorials. I'm in heaven.
She put up two tutorials about 4 years ago. In short, she uses liquid acrylic paint, generally the transparent colors like the quins and phthalos, mixed with a little water. She applies them to Blick artist's tissue that she lays on top of a piece of palette paper (could use kitchen parchment paper shiny side up, I'll bet). She lets the tissue dry before lifting it from the palette paper, so my guess is you'd want to have a few pieces laid out so you could move along staining one while another dries. I'm wondering how watercolor staining would work.....
Happy year ahead! I noticed that the collage bits are mostly square, or rectilinear. I like the idea of using that as a base and vary shapes as the collage progresses. Was that intentional? It seems to me that it's a good discipline!

I tried to paint tissue paper I bought in a local shop, but it didn't work very well. The tissue paper wasn't strong enough. So, what kind of tissue paper is that? 😮 I tried to buy some on internet, but they don't send it to my city 😢 Bad, bad people 😢😢😢
Your videos always make me want to rush off and try the technique for myself 😊
Me too! Looks so fun!
That is exactly why I put them up here. So glad you're inspired to go make stuff.
Thank you for sharing! I want to play with tissue paper, crayons, and pencils!😊
Oh, good! I love hearing that.

Cool! I hope you find your way with it and have fun.
Always colour your own tissue. The commercial stuff has no light fastness at all.
So pretty❣️❣️. Loved them all.
That's the thing about stained tissue paper. It is SO seductive. Make sure to include some very light values and neutrals.
Well, there's my inspiration to set the new year off. Thank you, Jane!!!😄💖💖💖
You’re so smart, “sweet Jane”!🎨
Love your videos! Lots of inspiration💙
Thanks! Enjoy.

Elsker at se dig arbejde og fortælle !

Beautiful! What medium did you use to stain your tissue paper?
Jane used acrylpaint
In her tutorials from 4 years back, she used liquid acrylics mixed with a little water. She primarily used transparent colors.
Hi Karen. It's acrylic paint, watered down. See this video ua-cam.com/video/GJtycVMZTz4/v-deo.htmlsi=e2vt__7XyZSwqrVh
How do you soak the tissue paper.
Spray bottle

Hi Jane, May I ask you about the substrate? Sorry if someone else has already asked in the comments, but I can't find anything to that effect.
The substrate IS tissue paper.
Happy year ahead! I noticed that the collage bits are mostly square, or rectilinear. I like the idea of using that as a base and vary shapes as the collage progresses. Was that intentional? It seems to me that it's a good discipline!
Hi Nancy! Yes, it is deliberate. But it is just for THIS piece. It's not some sort of METHOD.
What substrate are you using?
The substrate IS the tissue paper.
@@jdaviesVT- in your video you use fluid mat medium and “brush it on the substrate.” What are you placing the tissue paper on?
Bonjour, what paper you utilise please thank's Josslyn France.

I think Dick Blick has artist tissue paper.
Wet strength tissuepaper
Blick tissue is more transparent than wet strength. @@svanzundert5639
