    The first minute was a volcanic eruption of curiosity for me. From bilateral creating to peek-a-boo star to the frightening glimpse of the glowing earth's core, this was a superb video for the artistic spirit.

    I think my favorite thing about art are the surprises. Also starting with a blank piece of paper and not a clue in my head what I'm going to do, and then at the end "voila!" the paper isn't blank anymore and "I did that!" Amazing! The more surprises, the better.

    Using tissue as a collage material is a favorite and I use it a lot in my landscapes. Even after it’s dry it can be fragile and tear off your substrate, especially the parts that bunch up. I tend to embrace that and rip it off to see what it reveals. Really fun process!

    Love how you're always coming up with the 'new,' Jackie -- I'm ready for that in the coming year, to shake things up -- thanks, as always, for the inspiration! ❤As far as what gets me excited about the process, it's in deciding what collage elements to put together -- I usually have stacks of small collages that exist only as piles of elements because for me that's where the 'juice' is and making the actual collage is often just the 'work' of it -- I think what I need to do is bring out a larger batch of potential elements and do the whittling down and putting together on the spot instead of choosing the bits ahead of time and setting it aside so I can just keep choosing the next one. There's a personality trait in there . . .

    The reason the green works is because the application process actually ‘harmonizes’ the green colour because some of the red colour shows through…in essence the same as mixing a bit of red paint into green paint to harmonize it for application on 19:49 the same painting.

    When I want to get an idea of what a piece of tissue paper will look like once I glue it down, I spray it with just water. I have to gently peel it off after and let it dry before to either put it aside for another project or glue it on.

      @katanyajason3316 14 днів тому

      @@jackieschomburgart Good question! It depends on the tissue paper. You can always test a small piece on a sheet of white paper.
      But I actually find it's hard to find tissue papers that bleed nowadays as I look for them at Easter to make Easter eggs with the kids.
      All you have to do is wet the egg and then apply a bunch of little scraps of different coloured tissue paper to the wet egg. Then set aside to let dry. The kids are always so amazed when they take the papers off :)

Unfortunately I believe my husband used all my red and green at Christmas. Do you sew at all? If you do, you'll have these, if not, buy a sewing pattern at a thrift store. It is great using the extra pattern tissue paper with markings and pattern pieces for sizes not used, and even directions printed out on the tissue paper. It is so much fun to use this paper, which adds lines, words, and writing to your art! It is usually interesting and abstract, but if is say a small child's pattern, a sleeve pattern piece could prompt a mixed media hand holding flowers from tissue paper at the end of the sleeve! Enjoy!

    Bit concerned that bought coloured tissue may not be lightfast? How do you test for that?

      It’s an experiment. Time will tell 🤗 I will likely add a UV varnish on top to help it a bit too.

      Thanks! I'm using gloss medium as my glue and the tissue paper is just the thin paper used to put in gift bags.

      @@lartist-jk8fp Untreated tissue would likely fade with time. Addingz a UV varnish should help, but it’s all an experiment ❤

    Hi Jackie! I am an optometric vision therapist as well as an artist. We use a lot of bilateral exercises to help balance and integrate the brain, especially in patients who have had a concussion or other brain injury, or brain surgery, etc. Your bilateral drawing was symmetrical and synchronized - this is not always the case in those with brain injuries, but it is an intended outcome of bilateral work. As an artist, I am curious about what would happen if you warmed up by intentionally being asymmetrical or asynchronous in the bilateral drawing. I think I'll try it myself and get back to you...

      Hi Michelle - thanks for your input - that's a really interesting! I'll have to try it asymmetrically too! ❤️❤️❤️

    This is fantastic Jackie. I watch "Just Icelandic" on utube. Gilfi documents the active volcanos with incredible drone and camera footage of the fire and lava. Here it is in this piece of your artwork. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and have a great 2025 ❤........Alioban xx
