I'm Jamaican. Beef soup was made often where there was a little piece of meat and big ol chunks of bone. My dad always said it was the bone that gives it the flavor. I didn't understand then but i do now.

I’m a big believer of bone broth and collagen peptides! I’ve been taking them everyday for the past 9 months. I’ve been getting such great results. My hair is growing a lot more and my eczema has diminished, haven’t had flare ups since I started taking them. It’s God sent!

My daughter had the same thing. We finally found out when she had a slight pink burn from the beach that her aczema that covered her body disappeared that very night. Eventually it started coming back, so we got her back into the sun for as long as possible( without burning) and it cleared up almost instantly again. Never came back after that.

@tkajessylingabriel7544You can make it with any animal bones. If you can it is better to get grass-fed. You can use the carcass of your chicken when you are done with the meat. You can get the beef ones from the butcher and marrow bones for cheap.

Reading the comments here makes me think these guys are on a real mission to help us, vs. some people are simply out to tear down anything they see online without reason or purpose. or consideration for the consequences. I for one am grateful for this kind of free nutrition information online. I come from a time when when this way of getting information out didn't exist.

In the past people didn't waste anything and making broths and soups was totally normal. My mum would always boil the chicken carcass after a roast and boil the bones of meat to use as a stock. People have got very wasteful because of industrial meat production.

There was no need for supplements with the no-waste type of cooking - dishes were nutritious and healthy. Ironically, the more supplements we take today the sicker we seem to get. There may be a warning in that if we care to examine the supplement cult more closely.

I pressure cook it for 2 hrs then it is done . All bones are soft and juicy. You can add veggies after you open the lid and let it boil for 5 minutes or so. Its better to cook in pressure cooker as it is saves lots of nutrient and is energy-efficient.

I never heard of this bone broth until now, I tried making some last week... not sure if I did it right though.
Once the bones got soft I put them in the blender and then poured them back into the pot to keep simmering.
I poured the "broth" into a container and put it in the refrigerator over night, the next day it had cooled and become a solid block, like a *very* hard jello mold... I cut it into cubes and have been eating about half a cup worth with each breakfast.

Beef, chicken, pork etc. I add shallots, garlic, ginger, chilli, turmeric, peppercorns, himalayan salt, bay leaves and coriander root. Delicious.

Hard to make? Get a pressure cooker! Fagor makes some good ones. Beef broth - Take a cast iron skillet, swab it with a high quality lard or bacon grease and cook off grass fed bones on the grill to enhance flavor (optional). Put said bones and desired amount of water into a pressure cooker for three hours. Pour contents into Mason jars only 3/4 full and place into freezer. Chicken broth - take whole roaster, spices, and water, add to pressure cooker for up to one hour. Remove chicken and treat liquid as above mentioned. Easy peasy lemon squeezy !

@@danielprice538 Animal products in general are strongly linked to cancer formation. While I'm not aware of a specific study that addresses cancer from bone broth specifically I can say that logic says there's a high probability it is a cancer forming/inducing compound. It's like saying eating lead mixed with vicodin cures pain. While it might be true, the overall detriment of consuming the lead doesn't outweigh the benefit of the vicodin. Bone broth might help with some symptoms, but it's likely a poor decision for general health and you'd be better served by treating the underlying issue and cause. Thankfully a plant based whole food diet seems to address the most common causes of disease.

Dustin Hansford i have crohns disease and have done a vegan diet for a long period of time to help with my symptoms, successfully, and agree with some of what you said to a certain extent.
If you are eating animal products in moderation and know where its sourced it makes a huge difference.
I have been drinking bone broth lately, only from grass-fed organic animals, and doubt drinking a couple cups a week will cause cancer
On the other side, if your eating 16 oz steaks and burgers and grilled chicken breasts everyday that is too much meat, a lot of carcinogen, and most people eat conventional meat which contains who knows what which cause cancer and a lot of other problems

    • @dustinhansford8270

Think of it this way, cigarettes cause cancer. It may not always in all people and moderation of cigarettes is better than overindulgence, but why risk it. The research is out there and animal products are problematic from multiple stand points.

hey, it's not difficult or off putting at all... I make it every week... the butchers know me.... I put about 5 pieces of grass fed bones, and some chicken back and some chicken feet. I put carrots and celery and garlic and onion.... it's the easiest thing to make... put it on the stove and simmer for 24 to 48 hours.....strain into mason jars refrigerate and your set!

Am I the only one wondering if people with scars on their skin, particularly the "ice pick"/pitting type, are lacking the right types/amounts of collagen to repair itself? Maybe that's just wishful thinking.... but I always found it odd that the body doesn't repair itself in that manor.

I'd like to make fish broth. I grew up on the blurred lines of Chinatown in Boston and fish heads were easy to get. Not so much now, I love the crispy skin bride salmon . I'm not sold on the scales though. Also, the hydrolyzed collagen with peptides is a good supplement with broth.

Question, what about the organic bone broth that you can buy at the store. Do you think I'm wasting my money or am I getting benefits from that. Not everyone has the time to boil bones. Lol I can give it a try but you know how busy people are.

Always make sure to check ingredients, and make sure that along with being organic that the animals were also pasture-raised. Or, getting a high-quality bone broth protein powder can be a cost-effective option.

Its called bone broth for a reason, its not called chicken meat broth. Freeze all your bones until you have about a 1kg and go for it. DO NOT boil, only simmer.
