I was this many days old when I learnt how to apply physics to multiple objects at once, I now feel like a God. Sometimes it's the small things that make all the difference.... THANK YOU, YOU CHANGED A LIFE TODAY!
One thing I didn't know when I made this, if you hold alt while changing rigid body properties, with multiple objects selected, it will change the properties for everything. I use it all the time now.
@@JoeyCarlino I have since tried this secret of the 'alt' key and it works on everything as long as they share the same properties. So scale, location, light wattage... Mind blown....
The searching has an end, thank you :) Meanwhile Blender has advanced to Version 3.5.1, the "Convert" button on the particles modifier now says "Make instances real", furthermore I didn't see differences and the tutorial worked fine for me.
Thank you! Tried this in Blender 3.6.2 , works perfectly. This is not easy to figure out by yourself, would be good if they added a quick effect for something like this... Like select 1 particle object, select one emitter object, click Quick Pile-up, floor plane is created at 0 height under the particle object, then you can tweak the settings.
For you, simulating the gravity and getting the pile into the convenient position works smooth. For me it freezes a lot. I used the same settings. I have a 3070 and a 10th gen i9 with an NVMe. I only used 100 cubes. A very simple and clear tutorial has made for a very frustrating experience. Each time I try to pick up 3D modelling, I have to go through these obstacles I can't find solutions for anywhere.
This was spot on for what I needed. Thanks a lot! Blender's physics solver is far superiors to Maya's sluggish, slow and filled with intersections physics solver.
holy smokes thank you for this very useful (and kinda specific) tutorial! I wanted to render a pine of unique shapes for an artwork of mine for ages, but I couldn't find how to for a while now!
I'm using blender 3.3. When I turn off show emitter, Nothing is there. Frame Start and End are at 1 and yet a blank box. Even if the emission number is at 1000 it is showing only the outline of an empty box. I think that is why the other comment says outdated.
So helpful, and such a cool skill, lots of great things can be done with this. I'm actually working on a channel intro, and this right here is going to help me make a great one, so thanks!
I don't see the convert button in 4:13, it said "make instances real" instead. And when I click that, that distorted my character (rig) into a stretchy disaster... I just wanted to make a pile of bodies 😔
When I press grid nothing happens and I have a lot of objects/halos in my emitter by default. What do I do? I am trying to create a pile of ice cubes to place inside a cooler. I had to create a new blend file just for creating the pile.
Sorry I did not find a tutorial on water simulation among your videos, there are so many settings to set. I watched several tutorials but most of them are quite clunky and hard to follow. Would you mind making one?
I'm currently making a MASSIVE pile of objects... Like 10,000+ rubber ducks. My computer is not enjoying this lol. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to make this task easier on my computer. Could I maybe add filler underneath the pile? I don't need to render the objects falling, just a big pile spilling out of a door, basically.
Faking it with geometry nodes is a good option. Distribute points on faces and instance your object into the points. I have a few geometry nodes for beginners videos that should help.
Using newer Blender version.. When i select the emitter and go to the particles tab, it shows " Make instances Real " instead of " Convert " and clicking ' make instances real ' doesnt do anything visually and also doesn't make all those emitter objects separate in the outliner 😕 and when i play it, the objects just fall through the passive rigid body.. Any help plz ?
This is an excellent video, but no matter what I do, all of my objects ether float away or explode away instead of dropping down to the plane. Any ideas?
Instead of using a plane, you can make a shape for the rocks to fall into that will be the shape of the wall. I'd probably use geometry nodes instead though
@@JoeyCarlino since i am using megascan rocks that freezes Blender. I will try with simpler ones. But how to do this with geo nodes? Can you please make a tutorial? I want to achieve a look like uk stone hedges.
Hello from Ukraine=)Thank you very much for this video=) I designing packaging for local producer of kids rice porridge and I will try to make a pile of rice seeds using your advices.
My objects overlap in the particle emitter, and so when I create objects and apply rigid body to them all, when I hit play, they explode all over the place. Is there any way to set them so they don't over lap from the emitter?
My stuff just explodes all over the place or falls through the floor even though I have rigid body, passive, on the floor and other objects, except the emitter objects.

EXACLTY what I needed... I can't believe it was so difficult to find a tutorial so accurate & straight to the point. Thanks a TON.
6:30 Bless you
Awesome video, quick and to the point
Even though it is a 3 years old video but this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
The sneeze made me laugh really hard. Never heard a UA-cam tute with a sneeze! :)

This is the best video on this issue that I have ever found on the web! Many thanks to you for it!!! I did it the first time!
My favorite blender tutorial.

I tried making a ball bit using rigid bodies, when the balls fall they stop right above the container instead of landing into it. How can I fix this?

Did you ever find a fix for this. I was trying to do the same and when I make the instances real my computer shits the bed and blender crashes.

How can I do in order don't get the collisions in the first frame so it happens later?
Hi there! Any ideea on how to make a natural stone wall the same way?
Instead of using a plane, you can make a shape for the rocks to fall into that will be the shape of the wall.
I'd probably use geometry nodes instead though

I did it, seems it was a problem with the objects scale not being applied, did`t expect to be 0.1 at import from Bridge

You should either make them smaller, scale up your emitter, so they are more spread apart, or just use fewer particles until they don't overlap.
I got a Problem
As soon as i save my project and reopen it my Objekt pile diasappears
Any idea to solve that problem ?
are physics simulations calculated on cpu or gpu? cause it's really slow in blender.
it took me over an hour just to find something that took you 2 seconds....Blender
Great
in animation its looks like blast
why
?
The real shiny pile of trash were the friends we made along the way
when I transform my particles into single objects and add Rigid body physics they start exploding to different directions, what can I do?
Change the collision margin size to be smaller, or try using mesh collision instead of bounding box or whatever the default is called.
i practiced this 10 times to get it done, not that easy but gets you good results i guess
Sorry. I didn't understand =( So you make a Cube. And adjust smth in that Cube-obj with Particles. But... How can I put my objects inside that cube?
"... And now uhh when you, AACHOIHGFSDBNDOIF!!!"
i followed this step by step and my bananas (the obj im using) just explode everywhere into the air not fall down
Try t change Ground setting from Convex Hull to Mesh
doesnt work. mine just keeps epxloding
My stuff just explodes all over the place or falls through the floor even though I have rigid body, passive, on the floor and other objects, except the emitter objects.
Try changing the floor to mesh instead of convex hull
@@JoeyCarlino Ty it works now.
Physics setup
how to make a pile of stuff first: rigid body
second freeze the rigid body simulation
done
for some reason, my cubes explode out of frame every time no matter how heavy they are.
Change the self collision distance in the modifier settings.
my objects keep attracting to each other, why is this happeing?
Early wohoo
..gesundheit.. lol
Thank you
