Awesome content. I just found your channel and subscribed- I was searching for back taping methods (home shop) and ran across your video which explained things in great detail- THANK YOU!! I’m doing a 69 Camaro that is about in the stage of your car in the video- no doors, no deck lid and no glass , just a shell. To top it off, I’m born and raised in ILM, moved out of state @ 30. Thanks again
Man that’s awesome and you’re very welcome buddy hope it turns out good. That car has its own playlist start to finish with every step if you’d like to look in our playlist. Welcome to the family!
Honestly I don’t remember the brand name. It’s just the cheapest in store deal. Tape is 3m but we just switched to a cheaper tape off eBay that’s orange
Nice job, what I do is tuck the roll under my chin holding the tape against my upper chest! Once you figure it out, it’s comfortable. I hate when guys sit the roll down, and pick up all the junk on the sides! Guys have purchased new rolls themselves, because I’ve told them they ruined it. Lol
😂 that’s awesome Donald. Nothing wrong with it if it works for you I just want to teach people the right way. Trash bags your playing with fire bc paint don’t stick to them so you’re gambling the overspray coming off in middle of painting and ruin your work.
I was with you right up till the hate on shops using masking paper they sell it because people use it. I have both and use both just depends on the moment and trust me people aren't running from me they running to me . But you have the right to your opinion . Nice job though
Not hating on masking paper. I use it for certain areas. If it works for you and you do good work then there’s no issues. One statement can’t fit all situations. Most of the time when you see someone not dropping plastic it’s bc they are more of a back yard gig. But it’s impossible in most situations to have one statement fit all.
You may think its insane (and it kinda is) but there was a painter at the shop that had earrings. He got a magnetic stud put on the right one and would stick the razor blade to it without any issues.
just a tip, not criticizing. instead of cutting right against the metal on the back taped spots, cut it in the middle of the tape away from the metal. plastic will still stick just fine and that way you don’t gotta worry about lil pieces of plastic coming loose and flying into the paint. also it makes it way easier if you accidentally cut a hole in the tape to just throw a piece of 1 1/2 over it to patch it.
@@ThePaintPaperHustle yeah man just makes it a lil easier to fix if you do. just stuff people have showed me over the years. also try you out an Olfa knife and the black carbon blades. that’s all i use for cutting plastic because the carbon doesn’t get worn out as quick by the plastic. just be careful cause they are sharp as hell and will mark up glass.
I just started at a shop a couple months ago and I’m so bad at tape and paper. You make it look easy but your tips are definitely helpful!
That’s so awesome! I’m glad we could help you!
Congratulations on the job!

That works to and yea they can pick up trash fast.
Was a great video... hopefully Osha doesn't see you eating that razer blade😂
Lol they can get over it
It's a lot harder than you make it look. But doable in the back yard ! 👍😎
Very do able in the backyard or home garage. I use to do it with no booth and poor lighting. That’s how I started out
@@ThePaintPaperHustle Hell yeah. I need to let you fix my 83 Square body truck. A tree limb hit the roof and dented it
@@thesquirrelchroniclesakare7808 we could do it
@@ThePaintPaperHustle I donhave a good body shop near me. I live in Gastonia. Maybe 3 hours from you
Gottcha. Yea a lot of shops only wanna do insurance work
Thanks for sharing how you tape and I'm guilty of the wrap up the antenna Courtney you busted my bubble news paper and trash bag's

We painted it in the middle of a vacant field with a few houses around which got a pinto orange tint
Lol that’s awesome I love it. I miss the days that I didn’t have to paint in a booth
How do you mask the windshield and rear hatch
Windshield I just face tape it or back tape it if it’s out. Hatch would be same way

That is a good point I just always seem to cut the dam tape when I do that lol
