The Paint & Paper Hustle
United States
Приєднався 30 сер 2011
This channel covers the build and journey of my 1974 Procharged Mercury Comet with a TKM built Coyote. Here we share a ton of helpful information and grow together. The goal of this channel is to help others be able to build beautiful vehicles at a fraction of the cost of the big guys. Its one of my goals and passions to prove over and over that you can make your vehicle look just as good for half the cost if you're willing to put in the work!
We also cover a lot of daily shop life inside a paint and body shop where we buy/repair/sell totaled salvage title vehicles that we purchase to flip from IAA auctions. I share as much inside information as I can and educate you on all the ins and outs of a body shop/dealership.
Thanks for watching and we hope you subscribe!

Looks very good Job on the Front suspension and Airbag mounts
Nice job man. Thanks for the video
You’re welcome
i was watching a guy on you tube doing his front arms and spindles his top arm balljoint bolt was standing 3 inches up out the top of spindle does anyone know what this is im seeing and is it right
Extended ball joint
Looks good. From reading some of the comments. I’m sure you will have the bag placement figured out in no time.
Thanks man
Im trying to replace my thermostat housing on a x166 gls63. The trick to remove the radiator and the power steering pump pulley out of the way is a game changer! Excellent video 👏 engine layout is similar to the m157 amg V8s
Awesome glad it helped!
In bagged height you would have framerails on the ground, right? In that case, don't worry about trimming the arms. They're only resting in contact, not moving around and rubbing. Just my 2 cents.
Yea so when bag would contact anything it wouldn’t have air pressure in it
@ThePaintPaperHustle right. Basically just a bump stop at that point. Plus, the weight load would be shared by the frame.
Pre Caution Make Sure you use Recommended Grease for Control Arm Bushings
Thanks
Maybe instead of grinding the mount for the bag, you can cut the lower bag mount and move it inward towards the direction of the frame and away from the ball joint, the bottom of the mount will not line up with the top bag mount but least it will clear then.
Worked on this all day today and we are nothing short of tight on room lol. It’s been a challenge to get everything to work correctly
Cool 😎 ! Definitely like the look of the front frame / suspension.
Thanks buddy
Just a precaution make sure you use the recommended Grease for Control Arm Bushings.
@jdkotara130 thanks
I can not wait for you to start the painting process. I'll assume you'd prefer not to share the colour, or colours you have in mind? Maybe you could just share that info with your members? 😁 Actually, if you have decided on one particular colour or paint scheme already, I'd prefer not to know.
We do have the color picked. If you’d like I can definitely share the colors and interior colors with members only. Let me know
@@ThePaintPaperHustle Thanks. But, the other members might not want to know, so I'd better wait.
That Looks Nasty Cool !!!! with that hood on, great vison you got !!
Thanks man! Cant wait till it’s done!
Excellent making memories with your family Very KOOL Car is coming along nicely
Thanks!
This is a great build. The hood originally had another structure that went from hinge to hinge. I think you’ll need something or you’re going to be a nightmare to line up. .
Yea I was going to fab up something. Car wasn’t missing anything hardly so I’d be surprised if it had anything. If you can find a pic or link send it to me please of the item. My email is in description
This structure pulls the bottom of the hood together at the hinges. I’ve got a pic but don’t know how to put it up here.
Email sent
Hey, I am interested in the lower rocker panel trim pieces if they are available.
Yes I still have them but they weren’t perfect. Are you near Wilmington NC?
@ Yes, I am in Raleigh
@wanderingdubhead8802 shoot me a email it’s in description and we can arrange something
I have been trying to reply, but the link doesn’t seem to work.
Just email me Buddy. Or we have a Facebook page with same name as the channel
Children are a life of care and commitment Harper that was a awesome snowman and snow angel
Yes they are
You are saying about the hood what about your door gaps
Will address door gaps later. We touched on door gaps around Christmas time in one of the videos when we opened up the driver side door gap some. We want to lock in some panels before we set gaps. Nothing is welded hardly at the moment
Use bee's wax
Good idea
Easily my favorite Build Series So much attention to detail. Car vs. Family is a Testament to your True Character
Thanks buddy
I would like to make the hood and fenders open forward on the fleetline. I also want to pancake the hood a bit and get rid of the flat part above the rad. Will need to leave the part between the door and wheel. There are story’s of the hoods popping up in an accident going threw the windshield and decapacitating the driver or passenger. Or you can get hooks from a wrecked car that when it’s closed at there’s an impact the hook latched into the fender and makes a it so it doesn’t pop up at the back of the hood.
Yea exactly like modern cars are I think you’re saying. I’ll modify it to be safe
This car is going to look REALLY nice when it's done... I applaud your vision! Keep up the Hard Work!
Thanks a lot man!
@@ThePaintPaperHustle you have a FAN in HAWAII... ALOHA!
@bigdogbrodavepresents6178 wow that’s awesome! Thanks a ton for being part of this all
Cool 😎 ! Good morning 🌞 Definitely when I modified my hood I definitely had a fun time with fitment issues.
Yea it’s gonna take alittle fun time lol
Great video 👍
Thanks
How much is it and what’s the difference between the others
You’ll have to look up the current price. And not sure the differences as I haven’t done a comparison
I like that you are going the extra mile to make this a top quality build. That suspension is worth the geometry class you are giving us. Thanks for another great episode
Thanks buddy! Trying to build something nice with out going over board
I have a question. What if I want to keep orange peel texture? I want to paint my front bumper pad and grille corner tabs, but they have that orange peel texture
Ok so just scuff the plastic up then use bull dog then paint. Basically no primer and no smoothing out primer
Thanks for the review.. Been looking at this set and i saw from the reviews of the 19 piece set..a couple of the sockets actually cracked. How have yours held up to daily usage?
So far no issues at all
Polyvance primer.. thank me later
Thanks
Very nice work Guys Lòoks good
Thanks buddy
It's great to see the geometry involved and see how the front arms move through their arc of motion, and also where to hang the upper control arms so that they stay where you need them to with the proper measurements. Great job guys you certainly out did yourself's and believe the front end will handle really well without any problems.
Thanks buddy. This thing should ride amazing
2 5/8” is about 67mm if you have a bolt supply close to they should have an m14-70mm grade 8 on hand. And now I remember your a couple weeks past this lol.
lol yea got a few on a boat coming from China at the moment. Y’all are catching up with me. Last weekend I didn’t get anything done so next 1-2 videos and yall will be on my azz
@ you have been pumping out the content. Quality is good. Not like mine. Figure I’ll start to make better quality when I’m. Finishing the inside of the garage. Then when I start working on more cars.
@@ThePaintPaperHustleMcMaster Carr will have any bolt you’ll ever need and quality. You talk about making that car safe, don’t put cheap bolts in suspension
These bolts are fine. To many people go over board with hardware when OEM isn’t anything higher than what I use. We have snapped a handful of OEM bolts by over tightening or trying to get a cross treaded one out yet when we do 100 wrecks a year we never see sheared off bolts. I wasted a lot of money on grade 8 everything on the comet and not making that mistake on this car.
@ Okay you do you. Dont talk about safety and not use proper bolts because you’re cheap and want to save a few bucks. There’s not many suspension bolts on a car. Probably talking $40 extra max for proper bolts
That was me telling you to go check out the truck you were using👍
lol you like how we nailed it dead on with out checking?
@@ThePaintPaperHustle Yes that was pretty cool. Mike knows his stuff.
Cool your gonna keep it Simon and simple thanks Mike
Yes I’m sick of people over complicating stuff
I gotta say man. Well done! I’m the owner of a garage door business and starting out I was thinking you were gonna kill yourself. But I ended up proud. Great job figuring it out!
I would suggest redoing this video and carefully following the steps as well as at least providing a listing of your setup: paint nozzle size, pressure setting and a listing and hyperlink of the products you used. As I could not find this paint product any where. Thanks for sharing about all the mistakes we could make.
So to be honest I don’t know my nozzle size or psi. I don’t pay attention to any of that and never have. I do 10k paint jobs for customers and pay no attention. I’ve covered in other videos that I go off of how the paint looks laying out and how the air sounds coming out the gun. Currently have no clue what needle size is in my gun as it’s whatever came with it. As far as a link I can try and find it and post it below.
It’s Moto Chrome Paint if you google that but currently won’t let me open the links for some reason.
Very nice job
Thanks
Don’t know why but when you were talking about the horns my mind saw a pair of old Army helmets. You need fabricate faces for the helmets…😅
lol yea or air brush them like military rockets
@ it’s Da bomb…lol
Looks good.
Thanks
My daily FIX of... CAR. Thank You for this series... Keep up the good work.
You’re very welcome thanks for watching
I'm sure you have already posted in an earlier video but what kind of truck did that Cummins engine come out of?
We bought it off an engine stand from someone so not sure.
When your doing this much of a build no one looks at what is factory left on it. Supports, etc. Don't make it more work for you in the long run. Keep engine bay clean as possible, sure once you start getting more stuff in there you will be cutting everything out for room
One important thing to me that makes me enjoy my style of building is keeping certain things original. I like to be able to highly modify things while retaining some of the original parts it’s just a cool end result.
Cool 😎 !
🫡
My truck is deleted and tuned already can i install the ccv reroute still?
Yes you can
@ thankyou. Have you had any issues with it since installing it?
@coygilstrap4096 sold the truck
Dont worry about the orange peel. For us, the important is how it turns out and it turned out very well. That is a good one. Igot to put my hand on that one
Thanks buddy
For the engine keep it black with some billet. Body color pin striping .
Good idea
@ this way it won’t be noticed unless you focus in. Then those that appreciate it will notice.
that heating element has a pipe thread get a brass plug at hardware store
Yea that’s what I ordered but it’s to big. Just got to figure out the size
Cool 😎 !
🫡
So Impressed with this Project Always look forward to your Videos Keep up the Great Work
Thank you!
COURTNEY THAT AIR INLET ELBOW MIGHT BE ABLE TO USE A ALUMINUM TYPE. LIKE WHAT JOHN HAS. LOOKS LIKE SAME SIZE??
🤔🙏🏾💪🏾🇺🇲👍🏾✌🏾💯
Yea I looked for aftermarket but didn’t see anything I liked at that moment. Will revisit the idea when it’s time to assemble the engine after rebuild
@@ThePaintPaperHustle buy a lathe and make your own. You're already needing an extension to your garage at home😉
@TheOriginalDaveJ I was gonna ask where do I put it lol I wanna buy a small plasma table next
I think painted can look a lot better than billet.
Me to!
Car is gonna be the ticket color is on point tip in here
Thanks
