JT, I was a Jeep tech at a dealer for years, I would run a hose from the bleeder to a glass bottle half full and pump the clutch until you don’t see any more bubbles. That worked most of the time.
Happy New Year, JT. I have been fighting health problems for 37 years. Found out this year I have an autoimmune disorder that has caused multiple heath problems. I have a new medicine that cost 7620.00 a month and my insurance pays 7250.00 witch is a blessing. I had a 1975 GMC three quarter ton with a 454 and a auto Trans with positive track rear end and I made all the four wheel drive trucks look bad. I also had a Ford Branco I could get my GMC out of a bad mud hole. Thanks again for helping remember the work me and my dad did together. You don't know how your videos help past the time on bad days. God Bless You and Your Farm.
Sweet ride J T 454 are Torque Monster love the Gas pump ,but who cares I’m sure it puts a on ur face when cruising around ,Had a 1980 Chevy Bonaza 1/2 ton with a strait six ,a dog , but I fixed that problem small block 400 bored 30 over ,flat tops cam ,med riseintake 750 Holly headers ,new paint job my hot rod pickup ,gotta love the old Iron ,keep up the entertaining videos 🤠👍
I worked at a fertilizer retail place years ago. The company truck assigned to me as a salesman was a Chevy 87' 3/4 ton 4 wd regular cab, just like yours but white and an automatic, 350 ci engine....no lift either. It was a great truck and good looking after rubbing compound and turtle wax. Great video JT!
JT, I believe if you take that John Deere plate off the front you might be surprised by a few things… 1. The truck will no longer be cold blooded and hard to start. 2. It will always be dependable. 3. You might even gain extra horsepower!! 😂😂😂😂😂
If the feed and bleeder ports on the cylinder are interchangeable, i guess the person assembling them has never seen one installed. It's good you got all the components. ❤
If that cat could talk, what tales it tell about ole JT in his garage as well. But the cat was cool, and it never said a mumbling word ! 😂 Great video ! Happy New Year to you and yours ! Fluffy Power, ole 3406B Kitty !
That truck is bad ass ...I love it ....n the fact that it's a B.B and a manual even better ....can't beat a old square body Chevy....my dad n I still have my grandpa's 1975 GMC regular cab long box with a 454 in it with a turbo 400 tranny....all stock.. except I talked my grandpa into headers for it ... years n years ago....love it!!
@jtsbarnngrill6873 oh it is.....raced my buddies 97 Z71 Chevy truck with a good built 350 in it ...n smoked him....lol ...but that was ...shit. 20 years ago
Good video. Personally, I like the tractors better. But a good video. Happy New Year my friend. I will probably watch anything you work on. You are one smart dude. Thanks for the ride.
Sum ting Wong parts manufacturing strikes again!! I feel your pain bro. I can feel the weird sensation of the brake fluid running off my elbow and into my armpit!!!
Hey JT another great video. Derek over at Vice Grip Garage here on the UA-cam sells a product that he calls the "Hood Saver 6000" that is a pair of flat bars that attach to the underside of the hood on a squarebody truck like yours that keep it from folding in half. I think he charges $60 for a pair, but they probably wouldn't be that hard to make on your own. It would let you put the springs on the hood and not have to prop it up every time you needed to work under the hood of the old Big Block.
Loved the wheel spin taking off from the drive. Good job JT. Love your work. I seen one of them layin under the truck tolleys where you slide out and pull a lever and it springs up into a seating position. You need to get one of them 😅
Love them Bow-Ties! I still have a 84 K30 454 4 speed single wheel 4.65 gears pickup as ordered from the factory. ( I don't drive it at all anymore, Way to hard on gas...) And also a 76 c20 350 4 speed. Thanks for sharing!
Bought my first big block 454 when I was 19 for my 70 Camaro never looked back brother still obsessed with them to this day! Good job 💪🏻💪🏻🐀🐀🐀I love those Rats
Good video, again! Loved the hack for pulling a vacuum!!! I will try that next time. I have a hack for no more rusted up break line nuts. Anti-seize the threads on the nut and on the break line, then slide the nut over the anti-seize and thread it in to whatever you are working on, calipers, wheel cylinder, master cylinder, ect. I have never had a problem with them rusting up solid again.
I have a 1961 Apache 20. All factory except it has a hydraulic hoist on it. The truck was used for everything from hauling manure to rock pickn 😁 lucky me. Loved pickn rocks nice and quiet and no one bugging me even if 4 other people were helping pick rocks😃 Nice job👍
Just replaced the plugs on my ‘84 K5 after the choke stuck and wasted them. My back and sides hurt for 2 weeks reaching around headers and everything else on 4 of the plugs from the top. I’d hate to have to do it on a lifted truck like yours. Great video !!
Love your truck, JT. We have your cats twin, they look alike and talk just as much 😂😂. Both are good mousers, and always right in your area when you are working. Hopefully you had a great Christmas with your family, JT.
Great video again, bud . Also laughed my ass off watching your short videos you put out . Hope you had a great Christmas & all good luck in the new year . Tc my friend .
Excellent Video JT :) also super cool job on Clutch pedal fix and I remember one was difficult to was on my cousin Glenn van had bleed Clutch with AIR compressor on bleed was like grease fitting too! Plus do air compressor on set screw on fork for pressure plate and pump Clutch pedal to when engine turn plus in Netural in Manual transmission to with Emergency brake on ! Then after 12 bleeding and pedal up 3/4 or more depending on Clutch plate has too plus fork bearing too in good condition!
@jtsbarnngrill6873 sure is 👍 and plus 2 people to do it! That was on 1975 Dodge Ram 250 van to camper special with 1976 Massey Ferguson Combine Perkins 354 Cubic Inches 6 cylinders no turbo but had Eaton D18 Creeper 4 with Bow Low first gear on floor and 390 rear end gears! His grandfather ran John Deere dealership back then plus OMC outdoor marina boat Motors shop to and foreman boss at Brimley Ontario Chrysler plant to! Many years ago!
Well done I did that on a old Porsche 944 probably 30 years ago but as soon as I can figure the steering out on my IH 454 I can get my dodge Dakota in the barn and change the brake light switch but I am not looking forward to that I turn 72 tomorrow and the old bones don’t move like they used to .keep up the great videos
You could use a "pressure brake bleeder" kit that would sure come in handy for alot of the work you do. I bought one years ago and it makes life much easier when bleeding brakes by yourself. Looks like a pump up sprayer with adapters for different master cylinder reservoirs. The name brands are much more expensive now but you might look on that one website everyone orders from.
Nice old truck. I thought all of the square bodies had mechanical clutches, learned something new today. Thanks for the videos, JT. Hope you had a good Christmas and wish you and your family a Happy New Year.
Hey JT, see if you can get hold of a pressure bleeder, it forces brake/clutch fluid through the system from the resevoir via a set of caps that either thread or clamp on, you put around 2.5l in it, pump the pressure up & open the bleed nipple. total gamechanger! love mine, has made the workshop air much cleaner without the frequent bad language!!
Once upon a time a friend of mine asked me to help replace the clutch and master/slave cylinder apparatus in his Massey Ferguson something. I want to say it was a dayna series/transmission...idk cant remember the details anymore, it was from that era. Anyway we fought and fought to get that thing to bleed out. Dealer told us good luck. We got it working somewhat, but it was never great. Seems to me there was a high spot in the line and no blead port up high, just the slave cylinder. Couldn't get enough volume through it to push that bubble out.
Hey JT, enjoyed the video about working on the Black Betty. cool truck. My Dad had a 64 buick wildcat with the 454 motor. would keep a driveshaft in her. Fluffy approved..
Good video I'm a Ford guy but I've had a few square bodies 1 18:50 lifted 2 hot rodded I was lucky I had mechanical linkages. Nice thing about those trucks is even in tight spots you still have room. I would have changed the line while I was there it's as old as the other parts
Amazon has a cheap vacuum bleeding kit for cooling systems and those clutch master cylinders. It pulls vacuum on the system then you open a valve to allow fluids to return into the system. Gets lots of air all bled out.
On my 1961 apache 20 I rebuilt the clutch slave cylinder. It's all on compartment. If a wheel brake cylinder is leaking well you lost clutch as well. I had no one to help. So I just let gravity feed for a while. Then I opened the bleeder and let I gravity bleeding while I did something else. It's been great all these yrs. Don't use it no more. May spend some time on it. Or sell it. Replace the chevy with a ford. Truck has been great never left me stranded.
JT I have an 88 C-1500 with a 350 and the sorry ass Getrag 5 speed transmission. It has the external slave the is on the driver side of the transmission. As you already know about 4 feet of hydraulic line that is routed over the top of the bell housing and back down to the slave cylinder. A real PIA to bleed. I hate the design and hate the transmission. But I also have a 96 HD 3500 with the Big Block Vortec and NV 4500 transmission and internal slave and throughout bearing. I love it. I can shift it with 2 yes TWO fingers. Easy to bleed but the secret is that the transmission bolts can get loose causing the distance between throughout bearing and pressure plate fingers to exceed working limits. I found this out by accident. tightened the bolts and now itis smooths as a Gravy Sandwich. The 88 is still a PIA. And I still hate it.
JT, I was a Jeep tech at a dealer for years, I would run a hose from the bleeder to a glass bottle half full and pump the clutch until you don’t see any more bubbles. That worked most of the time.
That’s a good way to do it!
Hi JT please oil your door hinge when I heard it it sent shivers down my back lol.
😂
Beautiful truck. It's nice to see a long box restored.
Thanks!
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 I think you should give it to me
