About 32-33 years ago I finished college working at a tractor salvage yard in Monroe, Louisiana. This was about the time there were a bunch of 2390/2590/1175/1370 Case tractors coming for salvage ad many still running in the field. One of my jobs was tearing into exactly what you just did. The allen wrench and socket was my favorite lesson. If you round one off, cut off a 6mm (best I remember), drive it in and be careful - that's the last chance. Those screws are so hard I never did drill one out all the way. I did see many sad faces, buying 1000's of dollars worth of unnecessary parts (6 and 7 thousand back then for the replacements, more than that now, if they are available at all) because they didn't take time to find the hidden screws behind that input shaft and got prematurely violent with everything just short of dynamite. I'm an entomologist now and run a research farm in Scott, Mississippi but I did enjoy the flashback. Come to think of it, you should come see me. I work a lot on the agronomic decisions in growing corn, cotton and soybeans. Thanks for the flashback......

recommend changing all clutch packs when you're there, a bit like it was on John Deere's quick-shift system. may be a little regretful when it's assembled and you have to split it again in 1-2 years, but incredibly well done, you're very good at what you do and I like your videos very much 😊

While you have the tractor in two I recommend you go through and check the manual side of the transmission!!! I feel this is very important because the manual side of the transmission is the only way you can put the tractor in neutral when engine is running. The power shift side stays turning all the time while engine is running. Unless you depress the clutch pedal which deverts the fluid away from your power shift clutch pack.
If that manual side is worn bad enough the tractor may not stay in natural while engine is still running. I can't recall the proper names of the parts in the manual A,B,C and D side of the transmission but you want to make sure that tractor stays in natural until you mash the clutch and select the range you will be operating out of!!!! Again good luck, be careful and God bless you.😊

A quick search it looks like between Allstate Ag Parts, Wengers of Myerstown, and Yesterdays Tractor they all have a combination of all those parts new or used.
Yesterdays Tractor had that plate with the chipped teeth for around $229 used. Wengers had the bellveiw springs $20. Clutch disc were like $65-85 depending.

Just a 1070 doing 1070 things. We used to have one, grandpa was out picking bales one day and he lost a few gears, unfortunately he had to keep running it as there was bad weather on the way and he kept picking bales well into the night. On the way home on what wouldve been his 3rd to last load he noticed a the ground under the tractor was very orange so he stopped to take a look. Needless to say the fire department was called and that tractor never got fixed…. Well it got fixed by someone who bought it at an insurance auction and we fixed it by buying a john deere 4240. Was a good tractor other then the fact it had been split more then once before because the powershift failed.

So to help with the filings problem that up will still have, even so that you did a fluid flush, you need to pickup a couple of what we used to call cow magnetic and place in the rear end and this will help catch a lot of the filings. You may want to put at least 2 in the housing, Learned this back in the 90's when I was working at a John Deere dealer.

I'm sure you plan to do it, but I would really suggest that you flush out that entire rear end housing with the amount of material that's likely to be stuck in there. It would suck to fix the transmission only to have it get destroyed again by pieces left over from the old problem.

Great video JT you did it and discovered the real problem. I was hoping it was only the shifting box on top but bad news or me. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to seeing if parts are available and how much?

You're doing well so far, and the clutch pack together with BOTH Belville washers should do you. Not having inspected it personally, can say exactly if its all ok, but from what I've seen, it it looks like the manual pics, go for it! (the reason I say Both Belville washers is it looks a bit flat as you put it down, you may have turned the bits around, I don't know.
Keep up the good work, you'll be fine, just make sure you flush out all the debris of the C2 pack and follow the manual!!! best wishes from UK.

Thats a lot of work to get to those plates. i guess this is a good time to think how easy the normal basic transmission is compared to the powershift. Was it not easier to completely remove the cab ? As you're going to do a paintjob

Had a little more damage on my Massey Ferguson 3125 speed shift unit although it's very different it cost me 4 thousand Euro in Ireland and half of the bits were second hand
You might get lucky and find a breaker yard for the top hat and bottom plate but the good news is the plates and belvile springs are cheap enough new.
Great book wherever you got it saves feeling around in the dark 🕶️ for everything 😅
Good luck and I hope you get lucky

I do have to give it to the case books, everything is easy step by step with pictures. Makes it easy , most any monkey can folow those instructions. Looks like a fun project, id enjoy working on that one with you. I do have to remember im having fun as well, i currently have our 1066 split into 3 sections hunting down a pto driveling vibration. I think i put my finger on it yesterday. Found a shaft with 0.040 runout. Yesterday i was watching an older all around the farm video, you were showing your 1105 getting ready to paint. Back around thanksgiving time you were talking about some merchandise. I was thinking a calendar with befor and after photos of your paint jobs would sell good for you, just a suggestion.
