Okay, I'm subscribed now. First video I've ever seen by you guys, but you mess with pedals like I do. Like someone who turns on the radio but rarely listen to an entire song before changing the station. Love it. Also, using every kind of pickup with the pedal (and all of this work for a Mosky [I always pronounced it Moss-Key] is dedication). Thanks!
Mosky's klon clone, The Golden Horse, made it into guitar magazine for one of the top 10 clones. I have their Golden Horse, Silver Horse, mini tube screamer (808), and the switchable full size deul TS 9 & 808. Mosky makes very nice pedals.
I have heard this from multiple people. Form factor doesn't hurt either. Those bygone days of the 80's/Early 90's where "Made in China" automatically meant "Crap" are gone. Some people still won't even look at Squires or even MIM Fenders. Meanwhile, I'm able to have a room for all my guitars because I didn't exclusively buy USA Gibsons.
I have the Mosky Black Rat, the Amuzik G Fuzz, and the Rowin Greenizer on my board. Using combinations of those 3 pedals, I don't think there's a distorted tone that I cannot dial in.
Mosky pedals are really really good cheap clones. The "Black Rat" is quite a bit darker than a regular "Rat 2" but the sound is close to an old Rat (mostly because of the LM308 inside). Another good vintage weapon of choise is the Eno "Myomorpha". Sounds brighter than the "Black Rat" and the filter knob works the same way as on an official "Rat". Really good pedals for grunge, 90's alt rock/punk and of course for doom and sludge. The turbo mod on the Mosky sounds HUGE at low gain when stacked with a fuzz (like the Mosky "Mini Muff", awesome clone for Smashing Pumpkins style riffs). Oh and most importantly : really really good demo, once again!
Does the Mosky Rat pedal broadcast radio stations through the amp speaker the way my Mosky Plexi M pedal does? I looked into Sonicake noise gate pedals but Im not sure if they would prevent a radio signal
Tried the mosky plexi-M pedal. It broacasted radio stations through both my fender reissue tube amps and my vox ac 10 reissue tube amp. It lives in a dresser drawer with a couple of empty pedal boxes
What a fantastic sounding pedal!!!! And did it’s thing on every type of pick up. Why spend a fortune on a distortion pedal when you can get this for such little money 💁🏻♂️🎛 very impressed
I picked up a few of the mini Rat clones (Mosky, Mooer, and another one I can't recall). I liked the feel/dynamics of the Mosky the best. It felt more open, less compressed and more responsive to picking dynamics than the others. I've felt similarly about most of the Mosky's I have. None were as good as my Caline normal-sized clone though. I know PCB guys say you shouldn't here any difference between minis that use micro-components and normal sized PDBs that use through-hole construction. But my experience has been contrary to that, for whatever reason.
You are right with RATs...they are not very expensive and they are fairly easy to find...and there are of course the ethical issues when it comes to clones...but I look at these cheap clones as “gateway pedals” ...if you are just starting up or even if you have been playing for a while and you just want to see if the Rat sound is what you are after this is a great way to find out if it’s for you or not!
These cheap units usually have a turbo switch. A Turbo Rat usually a little more expensive than a Rat 2. So anyways, if you think you might like a Turbo then it could be worth buying one of these as well.
We can do that...I’ve actually be meaning to do a “what’s the difference between a Rat and the You Dirty Rat” video... Yes we did a video with the Deucetone Rat: ua-cam.com/video/L6gQb-g83uA/v-deo.html

A while back I grabbed a Dolamo Vintage Distortion which seems to be a rehoused Caline Headroom, which is pretty Rat-seque. Not bad for $20.
Oh...gotta check that out!! Thank you!!
I love that used a Rivolta for the demo instead of the usual Strap, LP etc. Great sounding pedal and can't beat the price.
This was a super fun, awesome, and happy time.
I explored vintage and turbo modes on pink noise. They have absolutely the same equalization. But gain works differently
That was my impression too, thanks for testing
I have the Mosky Crazy Tone, which is insanely good especially for $18!

Thank you very much Clément...I gotta try the Myomorpha!!
Sounded great..I have an original RAT.. would like to hear a side by side comparison..
.. so true .. about the blue light .. its so bright 😎
Buying the cheap clones helps me figure out what I want to spend real money on.
The Moskey rat is pretty darn good though.
I did the same!

That riff on the Greco was fire 🔥
Thank you Ed!!

Oh really...wow...they should call it the Spinal Tap pedal
Sounds like a RAT to me, and I like that you get two different mode options. Never tried one personally, but thanks for demoing a budget model.
Yes to the shootout as well.
No problem...thank you Ryan!!
I love mosky
Bright as a supernova!
I call it moe ski. The NUX I’ve always pronounced it nucks.
You guys made a video about a clone pedal without the original... to compare it to?!?
😎👍

Caline has a clone?
@@boimesa8190 Head room. Now more easily available as the Dolamo Vintage distortion.
@@JohnMichaelBurns what? Headroom?
I just bought a real rat for 40 bucks lol - fist time to the channel though, so I'll give yous a subscribe!
Can't decide between this or joyo uzi
I’ve never tried the Joyo Uzi…can’t help there sorry!!
Mooer dark secret
Oh come on, boys! Ditch this distorto, rat demo and get back to what really matters, the euro/modular/guitar gig!
Haha...there will be more of that soon!!
I bought this yesterday for $16 used.
Great buy for $16
Bought the pedal from Amazon and I’m returning it because it sucks ! Sticking with the DS-1.
The real rat is quite cheap. Are clones really needed?
You are right with RATs...they are not very expensive and they are fairly easy to find...and there are of course the ethical issues when it comes to clones...but I look at these cheap clones as “gateway pedals” ...if you are just starting up or even if you have been playing for a while and you just want to see if the Rat sound is what you are after this is a great way to find out if it’s for you or not!

The new original RAT versions have different opamp chip than the vintage one. With a clone you can use the lm380 chip like the old ones
Also consider that "quite cheap" doesn't apply to every country.
Its pronounced Moscow, but actually from Schenzen, China.
Shootout plz.. Mosky Blackrat v Proco You Dirty Rat 🐀 Great video! Have you reviewed the proco deucetone Rat?..
We can do that...I’ve actually be meaning to do a “what’s the difference between a Rat and the You Dirty Rat” video...
Yes we did a video with the Deucetone Rat:
ua-cam.com/video/L6gQb-g83uA/v-deo.html
It is pronounced "Languid Gorrilla"
That’s what my mum always called me
It’s pronounced mosky not mosky.
@@dufkers I thought I said Mosky not Mosky…or did I say Mosky??
all i hear is single coil noise. why do you accept that noise? it is stupid to have single coil
I just prefer the sound of single coil pickups …and the noise doesn’t bother me at all…I don’t even really notice it to be honest
greco and that pedal is pure Doom i want it lol
ordered this for my les paul.. also T Bird bass ;-0
not meant for cords its heavy metal too Doom..
🤷🏻♂️
LOVE THE RAT CLONE. ProClone
:)
There’s a Terrible Curse that plagues guitar players ( oh my ) haha that commercial.
