VERY NICE! Very SUPER CHEAP, yet TOTALLY PRACTICAL and USABLE! I need to build something like that so I can reach the ceiling part of the greenhouse I’m building.
your problems solving skills have always amazed me. This is awesome. I need to make a special ladder to pick my dates, this is inspiring. I have already started drawing plans.
Good thinking Chuck! With little time before winter now you can get this part of the structure completed. Power tools and lot's of PBJ sandwiches and you're on your way to completing your greenhouse! God is Good!
Awesome! I love the reuse of materials and that you made it yourself... save a few bucks that way too. What a huge greenhouse. Im jealous. Garden on Gardener ;)
I went to a rental place and they replace old stuff with new and I bought some of the old. But your idea looks good. It shows you are thinking all the time.
Chuck, I gave $100 and got 2 sections of scaffolding with the cross pieces and I got the platform for $20. I also bought a hand truck that you move appliances with the strap for $100. lp Ps That was quite a few years ago that I bought the scaffolding and hand truck.
You have a toy that I don't have, the nailer. The men who shingled my roof a few years ago used them and one of them managed to shoot himself in the leg, thankfully I wasn't home at the time so didn't see that. That was a good build Chuck and I'm sure you will get a lot of use out of it. As a friend of mine would say when a project like that was finished. "That will hold a man a hundred years old." LOL
+Dale Calder I used the nail gun to put it together and I completed lining the trusses up and tightened the trusses down. After that I went back and put some screws into it to make sure that nothing tried to back out. The ground isn't perfectly level so eventually those nails would loosen up. Thanks again Dale! Chuck
Well done on the build! Consider backing up your nails with screws this will strengthen the junctions. Also if those wheels give out due to too much weight, consider getting 6" or 8" tubeless tires (10 - 15$ each). I think they will give you better traction in softer conditions as well as being better under heavier loads.
+Karl Becker Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely go back with some screws in the near future. I needed this stood up that day so that I could get the trusses shored up so I opted for the fastest measure. Chuck
LOLOL Love it, just remember, you may be sore, but you won't have to worry about how to reach all that tubing anymore, or all the things that you will need to do up on top of that mountain of yours. LOL Bless, Sheila PS BOY that's a huge greenhouse!
You will find that very useful when hanging things from the purlins for sure, Chuck! If it were me, I would put a bolt in the center of the two cross braces to prevent them from bowing under stress. Just my .02 ; )
+Keyplayr61 Greenhouse Hydroponics And Gardens I actually put a couple heavy zip-ties on them yesterday. If that breaks I will take that advice. Thanks my friend! Chuck
Great design, Chuck. You don't mind if I copy it do you? LOL Although this will help you immensely during the construction, you will find it very useful later for accessing the purlins and collar ties to install things like lights, water pipe, support strings, etc. Those bows are very strong and will support a LOT of heavy stuff, but you have to get up there to attach it! We have fall/winter crops in the ground in our hoop house, but we're still waiting on NRCS approval of my water system design. Right now we're watering with soaker hoses and timers. Our crops are really looking good. I'll PM you a pic. As an engineer, I echo some of the comments below on stabilizing the cross braces and using 1x4 cross bracing on the ends...especially if you plan to use this for a long time. As much as you are going to be moving this around, I also wish you had used screws instead of nails, though.
+ItsyFarm I will definitely go back with some screws in the near future. I needed this stood up that day so that I could get the trusses shored up so I opted for the faster of my options at the time. I will probably throw a cross brace on the ends as well. As level as the ground is it still has spots where it rocks and that will loosen everything up in time Chuck
+Fensterfarm Greenhouse I hear ya! I'm cleaning and prepping my GH now. Should have a video on it and the new layout soon. You going to grow through the winter?
Probably late in the winter. This greenhouse will be comprised almost entirely of Hydroponics and Aquaponics so I will be building a lot of that infrastructure. The only thing that will be in a soil/media will be starter plants. At least that in my plan as of today! Chuck
+Fensterfarm Greenhouse Aquaponics, great! I hope you do it up right. I've considered it, but I haven't delved into it 'cause there is so much cost and effort for the little bit of output. I think I'm going to build a floating cage to put into my pond and raise Blue Tilapia similar to how they raise Atlanta Salmon. They grow very fast on floating food from what I hear. One season and they'll be easy to harvest caged come fall. Hey, it's a plan. My hybrid bream are getting bigger and especially the cats. Some cats are already better than 12" since I stocked this year. You always grow great looking food. I look forward to the Hydro and the new Aqua setup! Best wishes Chuck. I'm watching. Brent
+David Dube (Oregon Gardening) I will definitely go back with some screws in the near future. I needed this stood up that day so that I could get the trusses shored up so I opted for the fastest measure Chuck
+NWIPrepper19113 I will probably keep it in the greenhouse and use it for a shelf when i'm not using it for what it was built for but the Thompson's is a great idea anyway. It can get very humid in that greenhouse! Thanks for that idea. Chuck
+ian pym Thanks you Ian. I was just watching the video again and I see that it flexes when the ground isn't perfectly level which will be most of the time in there. I will try that! Chuck

Good job
Good video! Love youtube people who try to help other people. Great job!

Chuck
Nice job! 👍🏻 very practical, inexpensive and well explained.
Cheers......Nigel
+MuddyBootz Thank you so much Nigel.
Chuck
Nice.. Very good looking build.. Nice music from the kid.. Thumbs up.. Thanks for sharing..
+Shiny Knife Thank you on both counts!
CHuck

+Butch Mazza You are right on all counts! Especially the last one! He is GOOD!
Thanks brother!
Chuck
Wow, that was a butt kickin' project in its own right! Keep 'em coming Chuck!
+Rivet Gardener Thanks John. It's going to be a life saver!
Chuck

+bevyh1 How much did you give for the used stuff?
Chuck
Chuck, I gave $100 and got 2 sections of scaffolding with the cross pieces and I got the platform for $20. I also bought a hand truck that you move appliances with the strap for $100. lp Ps That was quite a few years ago that I bought the scaffolding and hand truck.
I have no doubt that will come in handy. Best wishes Bob.
+Bob Lt Thank you Bob. It already has.I have already used it on this greenhouse build and it worked great!
Chuck

Very nice job. I know that will come in very handy.
+Gardening With Puppies Thank you Paula. It already has!
Chuck
Woooo Hoooo! Outstanding! Oh what you will be able to do with that!! Fantastic, and Congratulations on a job well done too! Love it. Bless, Sheila
+Sheila6325 I have already been using it so much that I am very sore from climbing up it. I need to build an elevator next I guess? lol
Chuck
LOLOL Love it, just remember, you may be sore, but you won't have to worry about how to reach all that tubing anymore, or all the things that you will need to do up on top of that mountain of yours. LOL Bless, Sheila

Great build, very handy for you. Stay safe 👍
+Nora Hepburn Thank you Nora!
Chuck
Looks better than the tractor bucket I was in.
+Cheryl Kelley That would work nicely! I am sore from climbing up and down that thing. Your way looks pretty good to me right about now! lol
Chuck
Very nice. Thank You
+jonessaddle Thank you so much!

So far so good.
+Cultivating Organic by greenwiseJo Yep!
Thanks

Won't be long and you'll be growing!
Brent
+C3 Voyage Yeah Brent,. The rain from the hurricane kind of pushed me back a bit though.

Well I was wondering how you were going to do all of the roof work. I though maybe a step ladder, but that scaffold looks sturdier. Very nice 😃
+Alan Williams Thanks Alan. I used a ladder to do all of this on my last greenhouse and it pretty near killed me. This is MUCH better! lol
Chuck
Good job!!
+Lois Laney Thank you Lois. Are you going to stand your greenhouse back up this fall?
Chuck
+Fensterfarm Greenhouse No, I really don't have a place to put it now. Bummer.
Good job on your build. I'm thinking for safety, you need a 1 x 4 diagonal on each end to really firm it up. I'm not one that trusts nails over time.
+David Dube (Oregon Gardening) I will definitely go back with some screws in the near future. I needed this stood up that day so that I could get the trusses shored up so I opted for the fastest measure
Chuck
Good move and good job. Might want to hit it with some Thompson's for storing outside so it's not in your way inside the greenhouse.
+NWIPrepper19113 I will probably keep it in the greenhouse and use it for a shelf when i'm not using it for what it was built for but the Thompson's is a great idea anyway. It can get very humid in that greenhouse! Thanks for that idea.
Chuck
+Fensterfarm Greenhouse Yeah, I guess extra vertical space would be a premium at that. You're welcome too.
Good job. Should serve you well.
+The Self Sufficient Life Thanks. It already been very helpful!
Chuck
Chuck: Looking forward to the next video! Bernard
+navajopa31 Me too Bernard. That means that the purlins and the corner braces are done! lol
Chuck
Music is good
Thanks. I’ll tell my son that you liked it!
you may want to wrap some rope round the cross braces to stop them flexing so much.
+ian pym Thanks you Ian. I was just watching the video again and I see that it flexes when the ground isn't perfectly level which will be most of the time in there. I will try that!
Chuck
