The base of the pre-fab sections on the base, what did you use screws or nails? I am new and have been told to use nails for load bearing portions. Screws for joining nails for load bearing, or do I need to get into making joints?
In general, nails have greater shear strength than ordinary screws, and so would be a better choice. However, I just used ordinary 3-inch deck screws, but used perhaps four at each joint to increase the total shear resistance. Since the live load (just me) wasn't that great, it proved to be sufficient. Probably best to use the new "structural" or "construction" screws, which combine ease of installation (and demolition) with high shear strength. See, for example: www.familyhandyman.com/tools/structural-screws-vs-lag-screws/
I always enjoy seeing hardworking people doing DIY stuff - Great job Johnathan!
I love this design of the 2x6 sandwiched like that
Great video! Interesting twist from 2020, right now wood is more expensive than just buying the steel scaffolding!!!!
It's unusual that no one has come on here and lectured Mr Ochshorn about the dangers of DIY staging.

Did you build it on 2x6 or 2x8? Thanks
Recycled 2x6 boards for the main structure (with 2x10 boards for the walking surface)
just needs to be mounted on an old farm wagon , then it could be moved all around the house easy
Very cool buddy, I will post again, once I have built my own, even if I have broken something, lol.
yaaay!
Great help
Would be ALOT easier to make some A frames.
would be faster and cheaper and safer to buy a second hand scaffold tower. easier to dismantle and store for future use
Great idea u must b half maori,
