- This is the first time for me to use the automatic parking feature.
Can a Ford lightning park itself?
How to make a Ford lightning parallel park itself?
Cost of ownership?
What is your first reaction to the Ford Lightning?
How long will a Ford Lightning last?
Do you still love to drive it after 1 year?
How far can a 2023 Ford Lightning drive on a single charge?
Have you ever wondered how to improve the range or even if you can improve the range of your EV?
Can you take a road trip in a F150 Ford Lightning?
The 2023 Ford F150 Lightning Lariat trim is such an awesome truck. You can even take a road trip with confidence. If you leave it in sport mode, the regenerative braking will help extend the range whether you are driving in town or on a highway.
Nice and I just realized that's by my house lol. I live up in Wolf Ranch area.
That’s funny. Yeah I did it in the briargate shopping center parking lot.
Well thats cool , and funny at the same time that even people who owned the truck didnt know about this feature.
That’s true. I saw the button, but I didn’t know what it did for a while then my daughter was actually the one that read up on it. So I tried it after a while. :-)
Mike, thanks for the videos. I'm also in COS. I had a couple questions. I've seen the prices here have gone down. Asking 55K for a 23' Lariet. Can I ask how things went with the Colorado available tax credits? Also, I see Mountain View electric also gives rebates for adding charging capabilities at your house. Have you thought of that? I drive to Denver (90-100 miles) 2 x a week. What do you think of this truck for that type of driving? Thanks in advance.
now is a great time to get one and the lariat is the best trim level to get. I drive to Denver all the time without any issues. What I would recommend is if you can get the extended range battery you will be better off as far as how the tax thing worked for me. I bought mine in December 2022 so I was under different rules at that time, but as far as I know right now, as long as the dealership is signed up for it through the IRS, they will also be able to take the 7500 federal off of the sale price. I’ve also heard you should get another 5000 off for the state, but that may be on your taxes at the end of the year.
Thanks for the video. That feature is not advertised very well. Like some others here, I have an F-150 Lightning and didn't realize it could do this. It's one of those buttons that I knew was there, but had no idea what it does and hadn't experimented with it yet or tried to read about it in the manual. I thought it was going to be something more simple and boring, like another way to put on the parking brake or a way to do something with the parking lights.
Yeah I thought it was pretty cool. I plan to keep using it when I can. Thank you for watching.
Had my lightning for 14 months I didn't even know I had this feature, that's why people are not using it most of us don't know about it
Yeah I had heard about it and I thought that’s what the button was, but I didn’t know much about it until I got curious one day, but I owned mine for over a year too before I recorded this video of my first time using it.
Used it today. Pretty neat, not sure how much I would use it. But cool for sure.
Great to hear it worked for you.
Mike, watching your video I am now going to have to try this feature. Trying to park a Lighting is like trying to park an aircraft carrier in a postage stamp space a pain in the butt. I have this feature on another vehicle and never had a need to use the feature as it’s so easy to park.
Yeah it’s the first time I used it in now 30k miles. I wish I would have tried it earlier, but i’m definitely going to use it more now.
So cool. You gotta show off the BlueCruise sometime. #F150Lightning
@mannys2893 here you go!
Lightning Mike - BlueCruise is super fun!

Still not brave enough to try it on mine 😂
It’s definitely scary :-)
Today for the first time I've riden in a EV the F150 lightning on a test track I was highly impressed. The acceleration 0 to 60 in 4 sec is sick especially for a pick up. The handling while aggressive driving equally impressive. Its been a true opener and my skepticism almost all gone for the exception of the battery life and charging networks. Other than that performance was great and so was comfort it literally felt I could live in there thats how comfortable and spacious it was
Thank you for watching @MDP673NJ1 I have been nothing but impressed with this truck too. Speaking of speed, one of the other comments was telling me to stop talking about how fast it is because there is no way that it will beat a mustang in a race. I thought it was a funny because until people get in one of these trucks and feel the torque like you are talking about then they don't realize how fast it actually is.
Haven’t used ours yet… have in other cars and I think prob a big difference in a large vehicle
Yeah it definitely went a lot faster than I would have in a bigger vehicle like this.
Like a kid with a new toy lol
Yes sir. It was fun!
It does get close! Try it parking into a regular parking spot between two cars. It turns tight to the other cars 😅
I’ll try that next thanks. Yeah not sure if it will account for room to open doors.
This would have been useful two days ago 😂
Wish I knew I had this.
lol
What are those tires you have on? And how’s the range and road noise?
They are Falken Wildpeak AT3W. They are awesome. I talk about the range and the road noise in this video. But in short it’s a little hit on the range. Not much though, and about the same with the road noise. I got them because of the good rating for wet weather.

What does Navigate To Parking do?
It opens up the maps and helps you find a parking lot, but it doesn’t drive for you. That would be awesome!
Dude that was me when I used hands-free for the first time in traffic!!! I had no idea the Lightning had parking assist.
Yeah I was the same way when I tried BlueCruise too :-)
@@F150LightningMike Have you tried remote parking at all? I'm really curious how that works. Also, would be cool to see a video of parking assist working in perpendicular spots. Not a big deal for most folks, but for us parking garage city folk it can be just as hair raising lol.
That’s a good idea. I’ve tried it since this video without recording and it seems to have a hard time finding the perpendicular spots. It worked 1 out of 3 times for me. 1 time almost running into a car :-(. It’s a good idea to do a video about though for sure.
I love all that awesome technology!
Me too!
Lol, I'm doing videos on the Lightning and I don't even know if I have this...
lol … Thanks for watching. I definitely knew I had it, but like most people I didn’t want to use it because I didn’t trust it. Now I trust it a little more.
