  • In this video, I walk you through knife carving skills and cuts I use to carve patterns onto a stick found on a walk.
I will teach you a new cutting technique on different sections of the stick.
follow along with me to learn new knife skills and new carving techniques as you go.
woods that can be used for this project-
    ideally, the wood should be-
not too hard (so you can carve without too much effort)
and not too soft. (so the wood does not break, and can hold details carved into it)
a lot of different woods can be carved, I can't name them all but here is a few below.
Lime, ash, sycamore, holly, birch, willow, oak(can be hard), London plane, pine, etc

You're like a lullaby. I'm so relaxed listening to your voice explain things. I'm always in a rush, but one minute into your video I was in. Thanks for that.
Your honestly the first carver to not go so fast I keep having to pause to catch up. Things are making more sense now.
You are a very considerate carver.
Now since I buttered you up a quick question. Pretty please

Great video. As I sit in North Florida and it will hit 100, today, I revel in your cold climate. I am new to carving, going to make a few sticks for me grands. Your videos are some of the best I have been looking at. Thank you

Sorry for 2 comments. My phone hates me at the moment. How do you carve and keep your knife sharp at the same time what's the quickest way to sharpen your knife.

@The Forest School Way I can't thank you enough for the tip about first pushing the knife in around your design, then using that as a guide to flick your wood from or too. It has really made my life easier.
I'm watching your video for sharpening now. I've been praying you would answer. I'm really enjoying myself carving everything I think I can pull off.
Right now a snake around a sling shot, and a bunny for Easter.
