Inkscape is such a robust program, every time I find a video like this I realize how much it can do that I was not aware of. Thanks for a great, clear, tutorial.
Oh I want to say that I have watched SO MANY videos to learn this and in just a few minutes you have completely helped me so much. I am now disabled with 4 kids and have been a widow since 2004 when our twins n 2 older kids were so small when my husband died, I was a teacher so I was able to support them ok but now I am disabled and need to pay off this glowforge quickly but need help. I am even having trouble learning to create an etsy account. Im not a dumb person but this has really got me stumped! Please mentor me if you can!! You are great!! Thank you Monica
How come when I click node I cannot hoover over each one like you are doing here? all the nodes pop up and I can't just move each letter individually as you show here??
Are you using the second arrow down, the node editing arrow? If you are and you still can't click a single node, I'm not sure what is going on. That's not normal.
Why couldn't you just make 2 different circular strokes, any width you want, and place them together as above. For each stroke, do Path, Stroke to Path. For Monogram, select it and do Path, Object to Path. Then select all 3 items, and do Path, Union. You're done!
Finally a video that solves the problem of the disappearing text! Thank You!

Down in the left corner, click the X. That turns off the fill color and just leaves a line.
