Hi, this is a fabulous video. Can I ask one question....if I wanted the gecko to engrave and the outline to cut out but I also wanted the outline attached to a circle is that possible?
Mike can you do a video on how to cut a large sized name using the passthrough!
I appreciate the request. I've had a Pro for 3 years and I've never used the passthrough. I've read horror stories about it. I'm not the right person to make that video. Sorry!
Hi mike! This video is one i often refer to when i need help so thank you!
Slightly unrelated Question- I drew my own design (a circle flag) on Inkscape and I can’t use the fill tool to completely fill the stripes. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
I'm glad that it helps. Instead of the fill tool, you should be able to click a color at the bottom. If that doesn't work, then maybe it's not a closed shape. Feel free to send me the file, I'd gladly take a look. Partyof4crafts@gmail.com
What is the score line thickness ? Like 1mm line
Does inkscape give you an option of what type of file to save it as and what’s the best type to save for the glow forge to do a multiple process cut score and engrave ?
Yes, you can do "Save As" and choose from multiple file types. But the default SVG file is the best anyhow. PDF is another option.
Hello, thank you soo much for this video. I ran into a little problem, when I try to get rid of the random nodes it deletes the whole outline. Even though I highlighted what I wanted to get rid of. Any advice?
Make sure that you're using the node editing arrow (second one down). Click to see the nodes, then select a specific node, then delete.
@@Partyof4Crafts yes, that's how I'm doing it and it deletes the whole offset. 😓
@@whyenvyme1 Unfortunately, I can't tell what's going on without being able to see it. You can email me at partyof4crafts@gmail.com
@@Partyof4Crafts thanks so much! I just emailed you.
Do you know if this will work in an XTool laser?
I'm not sure on that.
Hi ! Nice video! Just one thing...i have a cinese laser... i can use Glowforge anyway? I check the website, and cant see registration link...
No, the GlowForge app is only available to owners. But Inkscape is available to everyone for free. I use Lightburn for my Chinese laser.
@@Partyof4Crafts oook tank you anyways!👍
my glowforge keeps cutting on both sides of the line instead of the middle. do you know how to fix this?
If you zoom in, it's a double line. If it's a simple shape, you can do Path, Break Apart and delete one of them.
Is this the same process to do it in Illustrator?
The idea is the same, using different colors for different processes. Just the button clicks are a little different.
thanks for the video.very helpful.im kinda new to laser cutting design ..in order to design a keychain vector could we sketch it in paper and scan it then do the
process in video ?
It's possible, as you learn more, you'll find that it's easier to just design it in Inkscape.
@@Partyof4Crafts thanks for responding.do you have tuturial for design in inkscape on your channel?
I think I followed everything accurately but when I saved it as an svg file I wasn't able to do the vector cut. What did I do wrong. I'm doing it with a k40
K40 requires you to use red for cut, blue for score, and black for engrave. You'll have to give all of the vector cuts a red stroke to get it to work.
Is the file you created here saved as a SVG? I've had trouble importing files I've purchased on Etsy to fully work on my Glowforge. I am new to this so I know I'm missing a step somewhere...the files are not svg or png that I've received. I'll check in with the sellers too! Thanks! Great video!
Yes, I save all of my files as SVG. They should work flawlessly in the glowforge app if they are laser ready files. Some SVGs are for Cricuts and such and they won't always work properly on a Glowforge.
Hi
can you give me please link for the app?
Thanks
inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.2.2/
What kind of file did you save it as to upload? You didn't go over saving. I'm having trouble with my laser recognizing separate layers when I import designs. It just makes everything an image
Layers don't matter. Colors do. Save the separate tasks (cut, engrave, score) as different colors. Then save it as an SVG file or a Plain SVG file.
Once I get to the Dynamic Offset, I do not get the little white diamond. All steps leading up to this are working. Been trying on two separate laptops with different images. Same issue. Anyone else hit this?!
This video is old now and there is a much better way. Go to Path, Path Effects, Click the +, and choose Offset. You can type in numbers to offset as much as you want. Negative numbers will inset.
My union isn’t working on the two red ones😫
Can you email a screenshot of what you're doing? Partyof4crafts@gmail.com
No matter what I do, or what color, my laser won't fill my objects. It only outlines.

This video missed what is said in the audio second 1:20 to 1:24 of this video, I think that's why it didn't do anything when I try to engrave or cut. Lol hope this help someone
I am trying to follow but those constant clicks are driving me crazy. 😞
The Clicking sound is annoying
People requested it and then most hated it, so this was the only video that had it.
