Welding Shapes and Letters using the Union feature in Inkscape

Welcome back!
In this video I'll be discussing how to weld shapes together, as well as making a word into a single piece cut out.
Today, we'll be using Inkscape.

What did you do yo the first flower when it would not attach? I am having a problem attaching svgs. The message is saying the same as yours did with the flower, but you didn't explain what you did to get it to work. Please help. Thanks.

Select them in a different order! So if you selected the circle first, select the flower first instead, then the circle

I tried this and when I went to path and pressed union the word still did not weld together in your video?? What am I doing wrong? I am trying to make leather bracelets with words or inspiration cut out from middle of a leather bracelet. Im having lots of trouble! Please help me get this going...

You have to manually edit the nodes or add a shape to attach it to the word.

When I do difference the 2 shapes disappear and when I union the name to the shape, the name disappears and adds the small sections that overlapped to the shape

It’s a matter of the selecting what shape first.

Try a different boolean operation, or select your shapes in a different order
