so grateful this video popped up - it is so informative! thank you so much for taking the time and going in detail with each section with all your tips. congrats on your ucat score, that's amazing! also, you are absolutely stunning!
Thank you so much for the video! I have a question- how was your revision structured, did you do the ‘learn the ucat’ section at the beginning on like tutorials and question types on each sections or did you do questions straight away
Salam sis, my ucats it’s in 19 days, and I’m getting 550 for VR, 600 In abstarct, 400s in decision making and qr, how much do u think I should be revising a day and will I be able to get 2700+ with 3/4 hours practice a day?
Thank you, I did it last year. I would say the difficulty was mostly very similar, if I were to pinpoint though, the decision making questions were just a slightly bit more difficult in the exam. I also noticed that the verbal reasoning extracts in medify were a bit longer than the actual exam (and the qs in the ucat website), other than that everything was almost the same
i need a lot of help so basically at the beginning of my revision my resources weren’t that good and i decided to leave the ucat website for the last two to three weeks, biggest mistake because the resource i was using (passmedicine) was so much easier in the DM and VR section. I’m okay at QR but i can’t do with the timing, like i spend around 1 min to do the questions instead of 40 secs per section and that adds up so i can’t finish in the time given? i’m started to stress out and get really scared, what should I do?
I’m assuming you still have a couple of weeks left. First thing is try to not stress because the ucat is very much based on how you’re feeling so clear your mind and just think about how you can improve these last weeks. I would say start going through all the ucat website resources and focus on flagging and coming back to the questions to save time as it is really helpful. For QR, make sure to practice using the number pad and the whiteboard, they help in timing, and start using some shortcuts like Alt N (next q) Alt f (flag) Alt C (calculator) which save time (also some qs in the QR need 3+ steps so focus on identifying those and leave them to the end as they take a lot of time that you can instead spend on the other questions). For DM and VR, make sure to do a lot of questions on the ucat website to get a gist of the difficulty and use things like looking for keywords and skim reading in VR. Make sure to spend a good amount of time on practicing and Good luck in your exam I’m sure you’ll do amazing!
@@luluhalim i have a bit over 2 weeks!! and i’ve done all the questions on the VR, QR and DM sections as those are the sections i’m struggling with the most, thank you very much
hello, I have 18 days!!! I started looking at the ucat stuff about a month ago but not very much, only really started a couple of days ago. Do you think I still have enough time, honestly?? I'm using medify mostly but also the ucat book and website. Thanks!!
I think it is okay but you have to spend a good few hours everyday studying. It is definitely slightly pushing it but doable at the same time! Good luck in your exam, I hope it goes well💪😊
Thanks for the video, I've found that i fluctuate from scores of 2650 to as low as 2300 I don't know how to improve my consistency, any tips? (I'm only 2 weeks out )
I would say try and see which section particularly is fluctuating the most and work on it more separately, that would help in making sure your score becomes more consistent. Also try to always do mock papers when your mentally ready because it might be that you’re doing a mock when you’re tired etc. so that would affect your concentration and your score. Good luck in your exam!
Thank youu! I would say I did slightly better in the mocks in verbal reasoning, and decision making ( so the mocks were just slightly easier than the exam), and around the same in abstract reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and situational judgement.
Hello, great video! I'm sorry if you already mentioned this in the video, but when doing timed questions, do you recommend doing whole exam papers In timed conditions or just individual sections in timed conditions? Thank you
Thank you! I mainly focused on timed sections and did around 1 whole paper a week (I did more around 1 week before the ucat) I would say gauge how you’re feeling with your exam and then decide. I felt like whole papers took too much time and I wanted to focus more on the sections that I struggled in but at the same time they’re a really good way of making sure you practice sitting for a good 2 hours doing all the sections. So I’d say find a balance as both are really important.
Thank you so much! I am taking my Ucat exam on the 9th of September.. I am so stressed I keep getting really bad marks during ucat practice ( I have started my revision 2 weeks ago). How many hours do you think I should be doing per day to get a score +2700
@@dianajustino3832 no problem! I would recommend around 2+ hours a day and closer to the the exam start spending more time! I also started super bad at the start which is completely natural you just have to persevere and stay consistent and figure out what approaches work best for you and then it will slowly click ☺️
i'm crying I had 12 weeks.... and my score was still awful not even in the 2000. (And I used medify almost everyday during does 12 weeks, done total of 23 mocks and 10,000 questions, I still don't get it😢😭)
The ucat exam is really not the best at all as it doesn’t test knowledge that you can learn / study. Make sure to watch videos of people walking through the ucat, I’ve linked some in my description and they might help in seeing the techniques they use. Give it the last big push before the exam. After that I’d suggest looking at the bmat and universities that don’t look at the ucat. This may not be what you want to hear but it always helps to look at the other options. As med students we’re lucky to have two exams that we can take in case one goes bad. I hope everything goes well!
I didn’t measure my questions as much I just made sure to do 2 hours~ish everyday and then closer to the exam date I would increase that abit, (My medify membership ended so I cant give u an exact number)
I think they were about the same to be honest, medify did have more questions that needed more calculations if I remember correctly. It is quite a tough section, I’d recommend doing the UCAT practice papers as well on the ucat website to get an idea of whether there’s any difference. Good luck!!
I personally think you don’t need that much, a couple of hours a day I’d say for 5-6 weeks would be the most ideal setup especially since mock exams are usually around may/ june period :) I started around mid July and did my UCAT mid september and that worked fine for me
@@snoophy47 i tried to experiment with different approaches like reading the whole extract before or just looking for keywords etc until i found that skim reading it quickly then key words was what worked for me. Wakthrough videos are also helpful cuz it gives you a better idea of what you should be looking for. Aside from that, practice is the key it took me a while until i felt i had a bit of an understanding of how to answer it

Thank you for this video and welldone! I have almost a week left but I'm still not amazing on timing in AR, what do you think I should do? Also, what would u recommend for me to do during this week as I have been mainly just doing mini mocks and timed practice. Thank you :)
Thank you! For AR I would say make sure to have a list of all/some of the possible patterns as that will help in finding them quicker. Also ensure that you always flag and move on if you find that you are taking too much time so that you save time for the easier patterns! I would say perhaps start doing some whole mocks, but other than that I think timed practice and mini mocks are the best way to prepare in these last few days. Good luck and I hope the test goes well!😊💪🏼
How did you scale your scores for each section? On Medify my scaled scores are lower for the same mark compared to the table used by other students on Medic Mind? Which one would you go off of, as I don't want to give myself false confidence/ or stress myself out unnecessarily?
How many full Medify mocks did you complete and how far into your revision did you use timed practice for each question? If you are practising using a laptop, would you recommend investing in a bluetooth keyboard?
I used the medic mind one and the blackstonetutors one so I’d recommend checking nothing. I’d also say go off the lower one instead of the higher one as, like you said that would give false confidence. in terms of medify mocks, I don’t have my account anymore but I remember doing at least half and then closer to my exam date trying to do a few more. I started timed practice for each question around a few days into my revision which was quite early. I’d recommend waiting until you get a grasp of the questions and how they work and once you get to that starting timed straight away. I didn’t stick fully to timed all the time if I felt like I wanted to focus more on my technique slowly I would increase the time. In terms of keyboard, I used my laptops one as it had the bigger keyboard with the numberpad on the side. If yours doesn’t have the number pad then I’d suggest investing in one yes as for me that helped a loft in saving time. If you can however access laptops at your nearby library though then that is a perfect option!
