I love that prism effect using the mask tool...so many sick things u can do with all these editing softwares these days,I honestly was going to skip your video thinking this was going to be for beginners lol
Right? Definitely a cool little trick. I'm amazed how often people think that. I try to include at least a few things that even more advanced users don't know in every tutorial 🤘🏼
Thanks so much Fabi! Glad I was able to teach you some new things 😊 thanks for being a part of my channel membership! Let me know if there’s any specific video you’d like to see on there.

Great video! How did you make the vintage looking effect at 7:57? Are you using any plug in to create that? Also, on 7:42 you made cool transitions to the words dropping how did you do that on Final Cut Pro? Thank you keep up the good work.
Thanks Jazmine! That's from a plugin called mFilm Matte: geni.us/mFilmMatte As for the second part, the transition if from mShade I think: motionvfx.sjv.io/6bvxdQ As for the title, I'm not sure what plugin pack that comes from. Maybe mTitle Hype: motionvfx.sjv.io/2rOg50
Wondered if you were going to mention Beauty Box. It really is great. I was lucky enough to buy it for a work project (so I didn't pay for it) and have used it for years. Love the other tips. Always something new to learn (or be reminded of) in FCP. That Draw Mask transition is sweet.
Hey there! I do! Not at the moment though as I'm visiting family for the holidays. But sometime in January or February would work. You can always reach out to me via my website or email: dylanjohnmedia@gmail.com www.dylanjohnmedia.com
Does anyone know of any plugin for Final Cut that is capable of faking an anamorphic look? Some look that I can apply to my footage so that my normal lens looks like an expensive cinema lens. I know that there is a plugin like this, but I don't know its name. Among other things, it ensures that the edges are slightly blurred.
Many MotionVFX plugins have this. For example mStyle Cinematic. I think the code DYLANJOHN gets you 10% off if you're looking for a discount geni.us/mStyleCinematic
@Dylan - Sir, please. It's pronounced GOW-see-in (or GOW-see-[schwa]n [rhymes with MOUSE-see-in]), not "Gaw-shin". It is an extremely important curve in mathematics, esp. in statistics, named so in honor of Carl Frederick Gauss (rhymes with mouse), one of the greatest mathematicians of modern times. The Gaussian is also known as the famous bell curve (not the book). It is a probability distribution of enormous importance and has been adopted by the FCP developers as an effect. Please pronounce it right henceforth. Thanks! (^_^(
That’s not a free, built-in effect 😉 and if I were to name every plug-in preset I use in my tutorials, people would click off in 30 seconds haha. It’s a transition preset from the MotionVFX plug-in, mShorts geni.us/mShorts
Hey Dylan, i recently saw your About section on your channel is translated in german. You can clearly see that it was translated and sounds wrong. In german we have two versions of "you". "Sie/Ihnen" is very formal and only used talking to strangers or people above you (e. g. my teachers). The other form is "du" which is used when talking to friends, younger people etc. Your about section uses "sie/ihnen" which doesn't really make sense in that way so i improved it: Willst du ein besserer Videofilmer / Filmemacher / Kreativer werden? PS: You can translate it back and it will be the same as the text you started with in the first place. It just sounds more 'german".
Thank you so much, my friend! That means a lot that you'd go to the trouble of correctly translating it for me. I just changed it ☺ I actually didn't even realize there was a translation of it in German haha.

It's a great one, isn't it? Certain clients of mine seem to love it. Thanks for the kind words Jason!

How do you feel about getting a Wacom tablet for Final Cut vs using a mouse? I wanted want for PS as well.
I'm not sure! I don't have a Wacom. I feel like you might as well get the magic trackpad from Apple, but perhaps the Wacom would work better?
Hey, Dylan! Love your great tutorials. Glad to learning new things from you dude 🤟🏻
