I can edit videos all day long and have no issues, but when it comes down to editing audio/voice- my brain shuts down. I have no idea why i find it so hard… thanks for this video!
Thank you for all the good tips! I've been getting comments that I should EQ my podcasts videos, but I don't know anything about it, so this was so helpful. 😀
Another great video with really usable techniques, thanks Dylan. Another tip I use to get that ‘podcast voice’ effect, is by enabling the 10 band eq, adding a boost around 250 and a reasonable dip at 500 for that radio production feel.
Hey mate, we truly appreciate ALL the work that goes onto these videos, they are informative and entertaining tick tick ! Thanks a time and of course subscribed long ago as you know. Continue the great work, this community loves your content !
That EQ trick is new to me! What's your go-to db level for the background music on a talking head video? (after lowering the frequency around your voice)
I’ve always felt like sound design is an undervalued aspect of video, and people should devote time to improve it. And it simply must be said - ME LIKEY! 😀
How lucky we are to have you on this channel. You solve so much in such a short time. Your generosity in sharing exceed from far most other channels. Thank you so much Dylan 😎
Incredibly useful and I used this today to integrate voiceover with background music whilst softening my voice. Much to learn, but a big improvement all round.
Oustanding tips - thank you so much! Do you have a (quick) way to remove breath sounds when editing? I can hear myself intake breath when recoding on a DJI pocket 3 with a mic 2 and I remove these manually at the moment. If there was a quick way to do this, it would save me a massive amount of time. Thanks again. Subscribed and looking forward to learning more.
Hi Dylan, I have 10.8 and I cannot make crossfades. No space in between clips. Also tried your tip to select 2 clips and use option T. I hear tuuut and thats it, no fade. What I am I doing wrong? Thanks, Frans/Bali 😀
Can we get studio quality from using software off an iPhone? I got MPC beats with Akai mini mpk but trying to see if I can use my iPhone instead of a laptop. Also if I can get MPC quality from recording on my phone. I can't seem to get an answer from anywhere!!
Do you have recordings where you're moving in and out of different environments or recording with different mics? If not, you should be okay with just making the adjustments to that hour long clip
@@dylanjohndickerson unfortunately, yes. It's a tutorial video, in a room, on a my desk but because it's filmed in different days, the sound is very different on each clip....loud in some, lower or very low in other. Sometimes the microphone is on the left, sometimes is on the right... :) Anyway, thank you for your answer and I wanted to say you are so cute when you do those jokes and it looks like you are a bit ashamed of making those jokes....so cute and fun!! Your videos are great, between the best, but when I look for something specific, it's very difficult to find what I'm looking for, as it might be in a video of "the 5 best...." or "10 things you need to know".
@@Dollectable_Dreams Ahh I see, well if they're different clips, then you could apply the same adjustments and then tweak the adjustments to fit each clip. Thanks so much 🥹 I really appreciate that. And so true, I'm sorry about that. I've gotten to the point where now if I post a very specific video like that, I'll get tons of unsubscribes. If you look through my older content, you'll find a lot of specific videos that may help out though.

That EQ trick is new to me! What's your go-to db level for the background music on a talking head video? (after lowering the frequency around your voice)
It actually depends. Some songs seem to be more intrusive than others. Usually I'll go to around -21 to -30 though.
Great video and tutorial. Just while I was working on my audio skills in FCP 😀
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Dylan 🙏

Thank you. But it is really -3 to -6 dB, not 3 to 6.
I should have said 'moving down 3 to 6 decibels' instead of 'moving up' but nevertheless, it's still 3 to 6. Thanks for the correction though.
