I stopped editing over a year ago and recently started again. In that time I forgot all my tricks even though I have some notes but I cannot find all the tricks. I stumbled over you but you impressed me so much I subscribed too!. Thanks for this video.
The Photoshop trick - thank you so much!! That's incredible. What I usually did is perform multiple exports (of different layers) of a PSD file and include them separately in the FCP project. That is so cumbersome in comparison to what you showed. You saved me a lot of time in the future! EDIT: for what it's worth, just wanted to let you know that UA-cam recommended your video for a few days in a row (despite me initially not clicking on it). UA-cam probably agrees with the rest of us that this is a great video 🙂
Thank you, you did a great job. Not only was the content super helpful, but unlike 99.999999999999999% of creators, you DIDN’T waste our time with inane banter. Subscribed.
I had been editing on a mid 2012 13 inch MacBook Pro. I got away from editing for a couple of years. I just got a 2021 14 inch MacBook Pro and am excited about editing again. Thanks for the tips and tricks! Thank you!
As a longtime Final Cut Pro user I would say I did not know about 2/3 of the tips that you showed. So thanks 1 million for making this video. I’ll be watching all the rest of yours
No wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy the .PSD thing I wish I knew about that sooner!!! I literally accepted that exporting separate layers and then re-importing them into final cut was just a piece of the process. That’s game changing! Amazing video ❤
Really useful stuff. Wish I’d known about that tilde option on the trim tool before. I couldn’t figure out why other clips were losing sync. I learn something new every day thanks to people like you.
WOW.. I have been using FCPX for so long time and didn't know few of the tricks. Thank you for sharing. My Favourite is : Slow motion playback and Last Trick which is adjust mix.
The end really got me..... I love the way you said .... bet you did not know that 1.... and yes ... even though I am still learning, I know lots did not know that 1
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooooooooo many really useful stuff, although i've been working in fcpx since 7 years)))))) thank you! Now I wanna see all of your tutorials, cause you're teaching sooo goog!
Im only halfway through the vid and had to give it a LIKE because the editing PSD files tip just blew my mind 🤯! I instantly imagined so many things i could do with that , & not have to rely on something like Canva as much to animate my elements.
Jenn presents the material quickly, but not too quickly that she assumes you know what she is doing. Which is perfect for me, because I don't know what she is doing, but I can learn at her speed.
Been using FCPX for a good number of years and you've demystified a lot of things that very few people are talking about! More so, my workflow will be a bunch faster with the ability to break apart compound clips! THANK YOU!
I know this is a somewhat old video, but instead of using the scaling and position to zoom into something, the transition is actually a lot more smooth if you use the cropping with Shift + C and keyframing that instead.
Jenn, I am primarily an audio engineer that uses Final Cut Pro and I have to say, great tips here, super useful! Especially the one about dragging Photoshop files into Final Cut Pro...mind blown on that one, many thanks!
I knew about almost every other tip but that last one is definitely gonna be my go to, from now on! Thank you for making these videos! I love them!!! ❤️😊
You should have Hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I added one to start you off. Absolutely great info as well as great audio and video. Wish I could do that. Thanks for making this video.
Awesome, do you have any good starting out videos for using motion? I just got it the other day. To hopefully add some after-effects to my music videos.
Thanks for this video. Some great tips there, I knew a few of them but have definitely learnt a few new ones as well (and no I didn’t know about that last one). One thing though, Tip #2 "How to Import Clip Ranges in Final Cut Pro" - this seems to only work on files like XDCAM, AVCHD and so on but it doesn’t work on MP4 clips, at least I’ve not found a way to make it work, which is annoying as I shoot a lot of my videos in MP4 for ease of use in general (easier sharing with a client, easier to view in Mac or PC without special software etc). If you or anyone else knows a way to do this with MP4s I’d love to know.
Good tips. I forgot about the option-click to remove color from the range selector. Here's something to add to your clip connection tip. If you want to move the clip connection to the very first frame of a clip, it's very difficult to try to command-option click that clip. A simple key sequence is to select the connected clip, Shift-I to go to the first frame, Command-X to cut the clip, then Option-V to paste the clip back at the location of the cursor. You now have the connection at the very first frame.
I was blown away by the PSD one, I realized that there’s no one who could’ve told me that before because those who use photoshop don’t usually use FCP.
I didn't know about option-deselect mask range, the psd files which is cool, the hidden text styles, the clip skimming although I had already noticed that you can skim an audio track solo somehow, the difference between duplicate and snapshot a project (always been perplexed about this), and the option-effect mix hack which is sort of unpractical but cool to try out. Thanks!
Hey Jenn, thanks for the tips! I actually work with FCP X since it’s on the market and 19 of your tips I already know but the last one I did not - thanks for that. About „Snapshot Projects“ I think it’s meant the other way around: You can safe the current status of your work as kind of a backup with remaining compound clips unchanged. Therefore your snapshot is saved with the date and timestamp. When you proceed with your work in the original project and maybe change the compound clip it remains untouched in the snapshot.

Excellent ! Thanks!
I know a few things we can do with final cut but ...its a private matter...PM me if your interested...
The absolute first time that I’ve watched a video titled “tricks you didn’t know” and I actually didn’t know.
Amazing.
We need more like this.
Thought the same thing!
I stopped editing over a year ago and recently started again. In that time I forgot all my tricks even though I have some notes but I cannot find all the tricks. I stumbled over you but you impressed me so much I subscribed too!. Thanks for this video.
Been using FCP for years and went into this video thinking I'd know them all and hardly knew any. This was very helpful! Thank you!

Love your energy. The last trick is clutch. Making the quick adjustment from the bin is amazing.
Glad it was helpful!
I’ve been using Final Cut for years and there were several tips in here I did not know! You got a new subscriber 👍
Usually I find one interesting fact in these typical "10 FCP tipps" videos. But this one is truly amazing. Thanks for several new time savers! :)
Wow, thanks!
"Oh my god" were the first words out my mouth and I'm only on the first one! Been using FCPX for 8 years and had no clue. Thank you!
No wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy the .PSD thing I wish I knew about that sooner!!! I literally accepted that exporting separate layers and then re-importing them into final cut was just a piece of the process. That’s game changing! Amazing video ❤

thanks for the tips Jenn.
This is a very helpful video! Using a Photoshop file like this is amazing
I watched a lot of FCPX tips and secrets videos, and this is by far the BEST!
Jenn presents the material quickly, but not too quickly that she assumes you know what she is doing. Which is perfect for me, because I don't know what she is doing, but I can learn at her speed.
You just gained a sub. The color one at the beginning is one that I've been struggling with for a VERY long time. Thank you.
Thank you Jenn. This is excellent.
My goodness, this video is gold. I will be saving this forsure!
"Did not know", also loved the 'create snapshot'. Thank you for sharing!

That PSD file is a life changer
You are right! I did not know that last one. Very helpful.
I'm just marathoning these videos this week... GREAT tips!
Yay! Thank you!
I know this is a somewhat old video, but instead of using the scaling and position to zoom into something, the transition is actually a lot more smooth if you use the cropping with Shift + C and keyframing that instead.
dope vid Jenn. my fav was the sound effects
Jenn, I am primarily an audio engineer that uses Final Cut Pro and I have to say, great tips here, super useful! Especially the one about dragging Photoshop files into Final Cut Pro...mind blown on that one, many thanks!
I frequently use PhotoShop PSD's with layers, you can KeyFrame the Layers which lets you create some pretty cool effects. Thanks for sharing.
19 was my favorite but the final one too. 19 was about something I had been frustrated by (cc’s). Thank you for being clear and concise.
Saved to my editing folder! Thank you so much~
Brilliant! I only knew 3 of these and definitely not the last one! THANKS!
Very helpful video! thanks for sharing. I like the de-select tip. Going to start using it moving forward
Thank you. Watching this video just earned you a new subscriber!!!

#1 is gold - (and the others are great too). It's definitely an interesting 'sandbox' (final cut) to play in. Thanks for your videos!
You should have Hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I added one to start you off. Absolutely great info as well as great audio and video. Wish I could do that.
Thanks for making this video.

Great stuff. Thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to see the next video!! 👍
Always learning new stuff! That last tip about Adjusting Effects using option was completely new to me. Great tips Jenn!
Wow that last one 🤯

Thanks I found the same issue Jean should mention this limit. I wasted a lot of time trying to limit range on a mp4 source
Just tried the import with the latest 10.6.6 version. Still does not work with H264 clips ;(
Quite a few in there that I wasn’t aware of. Thanks for sharing!

Jenn, you are an incredible tutor, hope you get a million views in each tutorial.
I know, right?
Excellent tips! Learned a ton for our videos!
Super useful tips. I’m always learning new tricks in FCP, so this was a perfect video!

Super good info - thanks so much! Subscribed!
that was dope. thanks for the tips jenn!
Thanks Jenn, did not know a lot of these!
We're all still learning for sure!
Another killer video! Thank you!
I was blown away by the PSD one, I realized that there’s no one who could’ve told me that before because those who use photoshop don’t usually use FCP.
Wow... Very amazing stuff... I didn't know about %60. Thank you.
Thanks!
Thanks so much!

What a wonderful video .... true to what you claimed ....
