Really enjoy these videos it’s amazing how far technology has come with these tools. Thanks for the post can’t wait to watch one of these videos on ms261 or 661. Thanks for posting
Factory air filter is amazing. The problem is the yellow foam ring at the top of the air filter support. Add another one over it, and not a speck of dust will ever enter the intake.
What’s your thoughts on the 500i vs the 462 for firewood cutting hardwood with a 24-28 inch bar? Had a ms400 and didn’t like it so hoping to try one of these. Making switch to stihl only for dealer support since husqvarna has all but dried up.
The 500i is going to have a little more grunt than a 462. They will both do fine with the bars you want to run. The 462 is going to be noticeably lighter if that matters to you.
Husky requires a dealer login. The Stihl may require a little assistance to set up on your computer, but there is a non-dealer login they will set you up with.
I’m combing back through your 500i videos wanted to bounce a question off of you. I’m working on a ported 500i. It does everything it’s supposed to but when he is cutting its like he hits the kill switch. It will just die mid cut. It will fire back up one pull and run fine until it quits again. He said it was once in a while now it’s doing it more frequently. I once overed everything and looks good. Vac pressure tested and everything. My next stop is the dealer to hook up to mgd1 but not sure if my dealer even does anything like that. They arnt the best when it comes to saw knowledge. Any places I could check before I go to dealer with it?
I think you've done everything you can do. Getting it plugged in should reveal whatever is starting to fail. I haven't had one do that yet. I'd appreciate a follow up after the diagnostics. Thanks, Rich.
Possibly your coil heating up and shorting? then when it cools, it works again...? I've had that happen on several units in my shop in the past. or maybe insulation has worn away and exposed the copper in the wire to a ground.
When you buy the kit it comes with a code to activate the unit. It downloads directly from Stihl. As there are updates to the system you are notified when you open the program. There is only the initial cost of the kit. No annual fees or renewal costs. Its worked flawlessly in the last year or so since I've owned it.
@@HYPERSAWS7mm I'm positive I couldn't have fixed this 500i without the MDG1. It's got a lot more electronics than the rest of the MTronic line up. I rarely need the MDG for an MTronic saw. When one of the components fails it's pretty obvious and only requires a simple part swap. Keep us posted with your 500i. Thanks, Rich

Hey, do we actually need a re-seller login to use the software and the diag tool ? Like the Husky one ?

Бывает катушка зажигания и датчик давления
Does this allow you to recalibrate also?
Yes you can initiate the recalibration while it's plugged in.
Hi Richard, is it easy to get the software for that mdg1 tool I am going to get one if I can get the software, thanks
