Looking into my first drone and been doing all the research, was set on Mini 3 Pro but this dropped and now I'm torn. My use is hobby video photo, social media stuff, and I am someone who likes to hike off-grid. The Mini 3 checked the boxes for weight in my pack and solid camera features, but I'm now wondering if I can add a couple pounds to my pack on a long hike just for the extra features, especially waypoints with video and cruise control. Thoughts?
Nice. The telephoto lens is one of my favorite features on the standard Mavic 3..that dreamy soft focus as you gather parallax effect on a tower a mile or 2 away is unique among drones. It is pricey though so there's room for other models.
@@DMProductions For the consumer? Brilliant move. More choice is always a win-win for manufacturer and end user! Surprised you used some of DJI's stock clips of APAS with that bike through the woods. If it could ever be that good at OA. My biggest disappointment is low sun, bright ground (snow, white sand) seem to flare the wide angle OA sensor lenses. Early FW would have it climb to highest set altitude, and my Mavic 3 still stops some hyperlapses towards setting sun with "obstacle detected" -when its 50 meters above everything. Glass lenses flare in certain lighting.
Thanks for your comment! I'm a real estate photographer in the USA. Of course I like the zoom lens on my regular camera because I don't have to move my feet so much when composing the shot. Also, in tight spaces, I can't always back up, so zooming to a wider focal length is needed. But on a drone? I couldn't understand why I would need a longer focal length when I could just move the drone closer. It doesn't seem worth the cost. But yes, having a lens with a longer focal length will help to provide shallow depth of field when you need it. Most of my work has everything in focus, but there are times when adding "that dreamy soft focus" adds a nice mood to the shot.

Does the Mavic 3 support the smart controller at all, or is that where the RC Pro comes in to play? Tempting, but the DJI RC is so light to hold. Potentially means shelling out for the RC Pro I suspect to be completely happy.
hey it doesn't, the rc pro is really good but ive been really liking the DJI RC, I like the small weight and ease to bring it along with you, the 300nits less doesn't seem to be a huge difference either, but that said the rc pro does have a brighter screen and is faster. You can use this with the N1 controller too with a phone
Hi, I wanted to know if the Mavic 3 / Cine filters can be mounted on the Mavic 3 Classic. I saw you use Freewell filters, I would like to take the PolarPro ND/PL Vivid collection (obviously those without the division between the two cameras).
I fly a Mavic 2 and use an iPad mini, the larger screen is helpful due to my older eyes. Is it possible to use IPad Mini with a 3rd party mount with these controllers?
For a photographer trying to decide on their first Dji drone..which do you recommend in your experience this "new" Mavic 3 Classic or the Mini 3 Pro? thanks
Were you able to find ND filters for the Classic? New new camera housing doesn't appear to be compatible with other Mavic 3 filter mounts and I haven't been able to find anything on the market yet.
New DJI RC update in today, I have the Mini 3, after I checked settings I have Hyperlapse cruise control now as an option for C2, will this work on the Mini 3?
Seems that they removed the gimbal lock that the Mavic 3 has? (That’s a pity). Wonder if they’ll add the night mode (which I believe requires different licensing to fly at night), and the cruse control to the older Mavic 3? - or are they simply to sway you to the new classic?
Hello! Could you answer, does DJI solved those issues in M3 Classic? 1) Longtime satellites search, upto 2 min each flight, and GLONASS not used again 2) Raw (DNG) photos have black corners as used lens dont cover full sensor area 3) Flickering while hyperlapse, even in full manual settings (WB, shutter etc.)
Can somebody explain why the price is only 100-200$ less than a regular DJI Mavic 3. Also DJI Mavic 3 is an old drone which is usually on discounts or you can buy used one very cheap...
@@thomashardy9994 In the stores in Sweden. The regular Mavic 3 costs around 2200 USD and Classic costs 2000 USD. The same difference goes for Fly More combos 2800 USD and 2600 USD. And I saw a few times Mavic 3 Cine almost new for 3000 USD on Marketplace. All this doesn't make sense for me.
I would prefer to have the tele-lens option available, and would buy just the drone because I already have the RC, but I wonder whether the latest stock of the M3 will be sold with a C1 label.
Great video Darren! Thanks for going over the features. I’d love to get one! Very nice video Darren. I will be getting one if these. What would happen if you set Cruise control to fly straight ahead and then you totally lost signal ? Thanks.
I am considering purchasing the M3 Classic. The Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Pro do not interest me. I have a Mavic 2 Pro Hasselblad, and it does all I ever need. I do more photography than video and the 20 MP res is still the same on M3. I dont need the digital zoom feature either. However, the Classic longer flight time and night photography features are appealing. The downside of my Mavic 2 pro is the battery. I have had several batteries replaced due to swelling. DJI has replaced them for me under warranty. Its a common problem caused by excessive heat. I live in Texas and its very hot during the summer. I do not fly when the temperature reaches 95 degrees F. to keep my batteries from getting to hot. My question is. Does the Mavic 3 battery have the same problem with the battery swelling or expanding?
I've been flying the Mini 2 and Mini 3 Pro for a couple of years now. I have a flyer ID. This drone looks to be a good additional drone. You imply I can fly it anywhere I can fly my Mini 3 Pro but do I need to have additional certification before I can do that?
Are you able to disable all sensors including downward landing sensors? Need to be able to single hand launch and retrieve without sensors being an issue.
I came from the phantom 4 to the mavic 2, then went to the air 2s for years(lul time). Now im back to the m3 classic. The zoom features have zero purpose for the type for my type of work i do, which is primarily establishing shots. 10 bit is 422 is all i need.
Considering this one.... looking at specs, the Tele camera on the Mavic 3 only boasts 12MP stills according to the DJI website... to me this says that it's just essentially cropping to a bit over half of the same 20mp sensor that the regular camera uses. As a photographer, 12mp is something I'd avoid generally. What do you gain? Better soft focus in the background of your too-small-to-print-very-big-anyway image? I do more stills than video. Seems like I could just crop and edit 20mp stills from this guy and achieve just about the same thing. Am I missing something?
The tele can was always intended to be an ‘ explorer camera ‘ look into the distance and see if it’s good to film and then fly over to it but with time the camera did get some camera improvements but it’s still lacking compared to the main lens. I use it for cool zoom shots and 7x optical zoom for some video but I wouldn’t take photos with it. The classic is very good value unless you want the zoom reach
Welcome back my friend. More fantastic educational video about this new drone. Looks a nice technical drone for those that work with drones. Cheers for this great information. Take care, I look forward to your next one. ❤
Dam I thought I'd finished buying with my Air 2 and mini 3 Pro but this looks fantastic, and the price for just the drone is not bad. The C1 marking is one of the most appealing points for me. I love my air 2 but the restriction even with the A2 keeps it in the case more often than not. As the UK is putting things on hold a touch with the drone regs do you think we will benefit from the C1 marking permanently? Nice review. 👌
Useful review as always. I have the Mavic 3 Pro, will that get a retrospective give C1 via a software update ? I see that the latest software update also gives Cruise Control and Night mode etc. Any views on the C1 for the M3 Pro ?
Hi Darren does the C1 clarification mean you can take it to say Majorca without needing to apply for permission now. Brilliant video once again as always very well explained Thanks
Thanks nice video. I am new to looking at drones. I am a keen skier (mainly France and Switzerland). I am looking for a drone that will follow me as I ski and avoid pylons. This seems to be what I require. I tend to cruise around at about 50mph, but following contours so I guess with a top speed of 40mph the Mavic 3 Classic should keep up?
@@DMProductions Thanks for the reply I assume that I do not need the one with the telephoto lens as the classic will keep up. Is it worth buying a second battery so that I could use up one in the morning and one in the afternoon?
@@arthurwellsley2715 sure I got by with just one extra battery for ages and that was enough with its big battery. Yeah the telelens isn’t needed for what you want, it’s good but I’d safe the money and get the classic
DM. Production love your vids, watch this and the comparrsion ci with the 3 mini pro! I must ask is some of the footage yours as I have see two clips now in both vids located in the Trough of Bowland UK
@@DMProductions Well one was on the trough road on your bike, other clip id seen was back road near Nicky Nook. Vids have been really nicely done, clear and quite enjoyed them as much as you can enjoy a review anyway!
C1 won't mean a thing in January 2023 here In the UK it's all about A3 unless you use article 16 or have an A2 cofc. What are you thought on this? Just hit the buy button then saw the restrictions. Should I return?
Def not ! Keep it, it’s the nuts! I always recommend getting the a2 cofc the one I recommend is all online and can be competed in like 2 days from my mate Matt from UAVHUB, the mavic 3 is unlike any other drone and if you ever go to Europe you have the freedom to fly it, maybe one day the UK clowns will adopt the same polices as Europe. Def get a2 course tho
As you know, I have been viewing your videos for a while now and based upon your reviews, I eventually committed to buying a DJI Mavic 3 Classic. Can't wait to see how it compares to my DJI Mini 3 Pro. :)
I can’t decide whenever I should go for the mavic 3 classic or normal m3, I’d want to turn my Hobby into a job one day, and not sure if I’ll ever get into Ariel inspection which is where the zoom on the M3 would come in handy.
If you think you’ll need the tele lens go for the mavic 3, otherwise the classic is fine but for work jobs the telelens with 7x optical zoom is very good
mate i'm close to clicking on your affiliate link and getting this. got a mini 3 and an air 2s so it's to replace to the air 2s. would you say it's worth replacing? i can imagine the camera quality being very close but it's the night mode and that c1 certification that i'm after. does c1 mean i can fly it in the same spots as the 249 gram mini 3?
Yes it’s the first dji drone with a c1 label which means you can fly this in the a1 category so same as the mini 3 In Europe. The camera is better than the air2s it’s very sharp, variable aperture but a huge improvement for you will be the battery life. This drone is massive seller, they don’t great. Night mode is brilliant the de-noisier is very good
@@DMProductions thanks for the fast reply buddy. Looks like i'm getting my air 2s on ebay tonight then if you say the camera is way better... and this has side sensors of course and cruise control. my mini 3 really struggles in low light with heavy noise and needs lots of de-noise in davinci resolve so if i can fly this in the same locations, it's a no brainier. i'm also in the UK and i was going to risk using my air 2s in built up places for decent night footage very soon, but i heard if you happen to get caught with an over weight drone, they can confiscate your drone, fine you, and even revoke your operator ID. just not worth the risk. had no idea there was going to be a c1 drone out this year. thought that was a year away at least. very good news!
Thank you for such quick review video! just one question, since it has variable apertures why are you using some ND filters in a few shots or are they just CPL filters? thx
The mavic 3 has a 28x zoom the classic has no tele lens just 3x digital zoom but if you don’t need that zoom save some money it’s a very good drone ! More to come
Apologies for separate comments; trying to avoid huge multi-issue one. Current ND Filters using a single piece of glass, with no dividing line will work, correct? Are mounting locations identical? The camera housing dimensions LOOK identical to the dual camera setup, and you have ND filters mounted here. You tried several? Probably wouldn't a twin/dual/split ND filter with a bar between the top/bottom sections though! Unless you WANT a shadow blocking the field of view! ↕🎥🔝🎥⬇
I thought the same but no, slightly different but literally mm, so I did use some mavic 3 ones taped on as the mavic 3 classic nd's weren't available at the time
@DM Productions Thank you. This is critical info -some Amazon Sellers will know this, others will not. Hey Darren: Does cruise control allow multiple stick actions, such as descending while flying diagonally backward? I am curious because Mavic 3 hyperlapse for cruise control DOES work like this.
I love having the zoom feature on my Mavic 3. I honestly didn't think I would use it that much but I was wrong. I use it just about every flight. I can't imagine not having it now.
Ha... I was right! Mavic 3 just got a huge update for aircraft and RC Pro (RM510) and RC (RM330) We just got Night Mode, Cruise Control, and some really sweet stuff (to make us accept Remote ID in the US. Like POI and Focus Track with 7X Tele camera! Exciting times!
This is probably the drone I will save up my money for. It's more of what I think I need, with less of what I probably don't. Time to study for the advanced license and get into flying commercially. There are tons of opportunities and this seems like a perfect tool. In the meantime it seems possible to get started even with the Mini 2.
Unless someone is intending only to provide photo/filmography services with their drone, I really cannot see any great benefit without 3rd party app support like Litchi or Dronelink. For anything else (at least in a beginner level), my opinion is better start off with the Mini 2 as it is supported, has amazing abilities and weighs less than 250g!
@@DMProductions yes. Loved it. Can't wait for your upcoming stuff. You were the one who convinced me to get the mini 3 after seeing your videos. Your awesome at what u do 👍😊
Great video. I assume the camera has a rolling shutter? Also, does it work with DJI pilot 2? The mavic 2 pro works with DJI pilot PE meaning you can program flights without needing the more expensive mavic 2 pro enterprise. Thanks
Wow, I'm so glad I didn't get the A2S now. Especially if it can hover for the battery life (please tell us how long it takes to recharge the battery on the review), that is why I couldn't decide on the Mini. It makes it sound like there is no room for an Air 3 unless it is better than the Mavic 3 🤔.
the mavic series is the top line so any future air series will always have less features, normally the lack of sideways protection is a key one. I was getting really good battery life 40mins plus and about 90mins for a full charge

I have the Mavic 3 are those new features available on the Mavic 3 as well? Is that just a firmware update?
Where did you get that Classic filter?

Nice drone will watch more and see how it goes hope you and.your family 👪 are well
I love your video. Does it still have Geofencing? Thank you.
Getting this looks really good
7:30 why not mention the power with the 2s vs 3pro. When it’s also no comparison.
I came from the phantom 4 to the mavic 2, then went to the air 2s for years(lul time). Now im back to the m3 classic. The zoom features have zero purpose for the type for my type of work i do, which is primarily establishing shots. 10 bit is 422 is all i need.
Thanks for this video! How do you get your thumbnail titles with the background color? Thanks!
Awesome footage from lovely Mallorca and a great review. I think I have to switch from Air2s to Classic...Cheers DrDuu
Thank you more coming too featuring a road trip around Mallorca 😉
Makes sense, thanks! This review may cost me some money 🥴👍
Will all the new features like cruise control and night mode etc come to the Mavic 3 Pro too?
Firmware out for all mavic 3 owners now too
Hey buddy ,
Thanks for the video
Where did u get the bag which is showing @ 1:21
Thanks
Welcome back my friend. More fantastic educational video about this new drone. Looks a nice technical drone for those that work with drones. Cheers for this great information. Take care, I look forward to your next one. ❤
thank you! This drone is awesome! same great features with a nicer price! More on way buddy
@@DMProductions my drone and controller should be at DJI sometime today Darren
Dam I thought I'd finished buying with my Air 2 and mini 3 Pro but this looks fantastic, and the price for just the drone is not bad. The C1 marking is one of the most appealing points for me. I love my air 2 but the restriction even with the A2 keeps it in the case more often than not.
As the UK is putting things on hold a touch with the drone regs do you think we will benefit from the C1 marking permanently?
Nice review. 👌
can they make a tele converter lens for it?
Useful review as always.
I have the Mavic 3 Pro, will that get a retrospective give C1 via a software update ? I see that the latest software update also gives Cruise Control and Night mode etc. Any views on the C1 for the M3 Pro ?
Great content, thanks! Question: do you know if the cruise control may be coming to the regular Mavic3?
sure its out now with a firmware update
Can you keep multiple drones bound to a single RC Pro controller? Or would I need to constantly unbind and rebind to use multiple drones with it?
yes you can, ive been flying the mavic 3 and mini 3 on the same rc controller, just repair each time, takes seconds
Hi Darren does the C1 clarification mean you can take it to say Majorca without needing to apply for permission now.
Brilliant video once again as always very well explained
Thanks
hi man, what do you think about RC vs RC PRO for Mavic 3 classic? Which one would you prefer? thanks
Rc pro is 300nits brighter and faster but that said I do like the rc and find it’s more than good enough and lighter to carry
Yes it should keep up pretty well, that quiet fast tho! But this would be a great drone for you esp with the obstacles avoidance
Yes it’s a great place
@@DMProductions Well one was on the trough road on your bike, other clip id seen was back road near Nicky Nook. I have the Mini 2, which I have smashed up at least once, #thinking of a Mavic 3 Classic now and doing some follow stuff form motorbiking, go carting and a few other hobbies. Vids have been really nicely done, clear and quite enjoyed them as much as you can enjoy a review anyway!
Is that cruise control a software thing? Would by nice if it is possible for the mavic 3 as well.
It is through the latest update.
Will night vision and cruise control be added on a versions update for the old mavic 3 users?? Since it has the same camera??
The mavic 3 has all the same new features with the new firmware update.
@@theflyinggrip has the firmware update been released??
@@clifftonvaldaris4566 Yes, I updated mine a few hrs ago. The new gain and expo settings are the real mvp's of the update imo.
Must say, really tempted to save for this one Darren! Really offers so much! Great vid, thanks sooo much! 👍👍👍
Absolutely it’s such great value
how can I open live on my facebook during shooting by the Avata?
Will this 3 classic work with the old smart controller, I can tell you it works fine with the Mini 2, Air 2 and Air 2S. than you.
I don’t believe the smart controller works on the latest drones you would need the dji rc, rc pro or n1
@@DMProductionsthanks D, I just hoped.
Is it compatible with the RC Pro yet?
Should be a firmware update next day or too
@@DMProductions Thanks bro. Great video as always brother!
@@elevatedviewstcl thank you 🙏
Yes it is.... I downloaded it today into my RC Pro.. Now the RC Pro can fly 4 drones.
As you know, I have been viewing your videos for a while now and based upon your reviews, I eventually committed to buying a DJI Mavic 3 Classic. Can't wait to see how it compares to my DJI Mini 3 Pro. :)
I can’t decide whenever I should go for the mavic 3 classic or normal m3, I’d want to turn my
Hobby into a job one day, and not sure if I’ll ever get into Ariel inspection which is where the zoom on the M3 would come in handy.
If you think you’ll need the tele lens go for the mavic 3, otherwise the classic is fine but for work jobs the telelens with 7x optical zoom is very good
What mounts is it mate?
Do you know if you can use the DJI mini 3 RC controller with this drone?
You sure can yes !
Just got a Mini 3 Pro and I love it so much I'm looking at the Mavic 3 Classic now!
I crashed my mini 4 pro, wondering about this one or the pro version. A bigger drone should function better in wind. Great informative video!
Don’t we have to wait for the C classes be approved yet in the uk ?
C1 has been approved in Europe, UK should be sorted by end of the year and most likely follow the EASA rules too
@@DMProductions sweet . But . doesn't this now make the mini 3 a one trick pony now .
Does it still need a license for the c1 category?
mate i'm close to clicking on your affiliate link and getting this. got a mini 3 and an air 2s so it's to replace to the air 2s. would you say it's worth replacing? i can imagine the camera quality being very close but it's the night mode and that c1 certification that i'm after. does c1 mean i can fly it in the same spots as the 249 gram mini 3?
Very COOL! I need to upgrade big time. What is the name of the intro music if i may ask? Very nice epic music
Dji mavic 3 classic suport vertical footage like on mini 3 pro?
Nope unfortunately
dude, you do very convincing sales talk! you make me wanna go out and buy a classic!
Thank you for such quick review video! just one question, since it has variable apertures why are you using some ND filters in a few shots or are they just CPL filters? thx
it was mainly for the overwater shots as it was middle of the day
@@DMProductions for exposure purposes?
Yet another great video from Darren that has made me go out and buy another drone. Take it the tele lens is better zoom?
And did I hear you right it’s A1? So same as my mini 3 that can fly over people? If I heard right that’s awesome!
The mavic 3 has a 28x zoom the classic has no tele lens just 3x digital zoom but if you don’t need that zoom save some money it’s a very good drone ! More to come
Mavic 3 CLASSIC comes with ADS B?
So it shoot 5.1k 10 bit ?
@11:40 Drone only option is drone, battery, props and a cover - no charger
Yup I love my Mavic 2 zoom I need the zoom
how much of a crop does 4k 60 has?
Excited indeed! Mavic line is getting better and better
If you can only have one. M3 classic or Mini 3 pro?
Two different drones but spec and features/ performance the mavic 3 classic wins
Great review! Does it do vertical? :D
unfortunately not sorry
feels like it will have good photos cropping i for vertical shots :D
@@domicreator the photos are beautiful tons of details ! So yes
This is probably the drone I will save up my money for. It's more of what I think I need, with less of what I probably don't. Time to study for the advanced license and get into flying commercially. There are tons of opportunities and this seems like a perfect tool. In the meantime it seems possible to get started even with the Mini 2.
It’s such a great drone, really recommend this now, such a power house
Unless someone is intending only to provide photo/filmography services with their drone, I really cannot see any great benefit without 3rd party app support like Litchi or Dronelink. For anything else (at least in a beginner level), my opinion is better start off with the Mini 2 as it is supported, has amazing abilities and weighs less than 250g!
Awesome Darren. I thought of you straight away when I heard about this release as I knew you were gonna review it first lol. Great job 👍👌
Thank you hope you enjoyed it, got couple more coming on this
@@DMProductions yes. Loved it. Can't wait for your upcoming stuff. You were the one who convinced me to get the mini 3 after seeing your videos. Your awesome at what u do 👍😊
Whats the range from the controller?
500 metres
Brilliant review! look forward to more on this !
More to come!
Great video. I assume the camera has a rolling shutter? Also, does it work with DJI pilot 2? The mavic 2 pro works with DJI pilot PE meaning you can program flights without needing the more expensive mavic 2 pro enterprise. Thanks
I didn't experience any rolling shutter, I'll find out about pilot 2 for you
Wow, I'm so glad I didn't get the A2S now.
@@DMProductions bit of a bugger on the 90 minutes, that means you might not be able to fly non-stop without 3 batteries.
I love this drone. Got the Mavic 3 with telecamera and the thermal one. Great drones. Good image quality and amazingly stable in the air. Btw big update today for the regular Mavic 3 (1800mb) with c1 label support.
Nice !!
@@DMProductions I tested the thermal to check if my new solar panels on my house are working well. Awsome for roof inspections ❤️
