I owned a 2000 same metro. 47 mpg around town. I drove it for 16 years and never one problem. Easy maintenance and so cheap to keep. I wish I still had it.
I wish this one had been in better shape. Must have been a northern car because everything underneath was completely rusted away. The more I fixed, the more problems I found. Ended up selling it to another enthusiast. 😭
Thank you, I'm gonna have to replace everything gradually, the wheel bearings and rotors are bad, half the brake calipers don't work come to find out, significant rust to the frame ill have to fix ( I'm a welder) and other odds and ends stuff.
Great car. I love the blue color. I particularly find the earlier models, like yours, more attractive than the later, blobby ones. My first car was a white 1994 Suzuki Swift GA with a 5-speed manual and those crappy door-mounted seat belts that never worked. I bought it for cheap from the first owner in July 2010, it was garage-kept with only 29k miles on it, and I used to treat it as a "modern classic," like the Beetle or the Mini Cooper. I found original Suzuki hubcaps, new dash vents (vents are flimsy and crack with a glance), and even installed a stock radio with K7. But then my uncle convinced me to trade my Swift for a Corolla in 2013, and I still regret selling it. Your car has seen better days, for sure (well, almost nobody really thought of preserving them at all), but it might be a thrilling project for a Geo enthusiast (believe me, they exist). As a matter of fact, one year ago, a 2000 Metro with only 400 miles on the clock was sold for 18k. Crazy.
I miss my old 1994 Metro. My first car back in 2003. It was an automatic ((wish it was manual but did not complain)) had working cold AC, and got killer MPG. With the way gas prices are now, I would love to find another one. 😊
My daily driver 99 metro brought me here. I keep a wooden stake I found in a parking lot in my trunk as my trunk supports don't work either. Have to put some 13's on that thing though at least, mine does fine with them That Engine is SUPER easy to work on, its like a little toy car. Look under the dash, it's likely your headlight wire is burnt out right where your knees are....mine has been soldered and taped a few times. Other than the previous owner totally half assing the battery bay...no tray, had the battery bungie corded in....which messed up the wires (had to replace them....also the battery slammed into the Radiator a few times...punching a hole in the top of it....replaced that thing twice...besides that, it's started and drove eveytime for the last two years...at 230k miles Hope to see more Metro videos...sub'd.
@@ozarksdigitalstoryteller1499 I would have had to pay someone else to do the work. When I was younger I was able to do tune ups, oil changes, brakes etc but I’m just too dang old nowadays
Wicked nice cars. Made by Suzuki. I have the the larger body stlyle 1995 Suzuki Swift HB 4cyl 1.3 sohc 5pd ABS purple her name is Smudge! 70 hp stock but have some upgrades! And want to put a SR20DET in her and see a 3 sec 0-60mph! Fun cars.
@@ozarksdigitalstoryteller1499 trick is to keep it around 55mph if you can not lose your mind going that slow , I drove to California and back for only 60 in gas
That's awesome, I still have more work to do on mine before it's safe to be a daily driver but I love the simplicity of the car. I hope it last me a while.
@@ozarksdigitalstoryteller1499 The Suzuki G10 will last when you pay a little attention to maintenance. Some get 500,000 miles then overhaul them. Many of the Metros on the road need new rings, but they still run and don't burn oil. I have had more trouble with the synchos in the 5 speed - learned to double clutch. They are as reliable as a Toyota.

The headlight short is usually the ground. The handles for the doors can be found on ebay brand new for under $30. Great looking Geo!

I kinda re wired mine as Suzuki wanted $900 to fix it! Took me 2 hours. Fun car to drive.
I got the suzuki cabrio one and it’s been fun so far

It’s actually a 55hp
I put 210K miles on my 94 Metro in 2 years.
It took me 13 years to put 95K miles on my 96 Metro
I wish I was mechanically minded enough t fully restore this one, ended up selling it to another enthusiast.
