I've seen so many wet set brush outs but you are the only one who has combed out the individual sections as you unroll them (then brush everything). That helps so much!
When I went to Beauty School, they taught us to not make straight parts for the hair that you put on the rollers that surround the face, but to zig-zag the parts, so that it blends together better when brushing it out.
love it! i've been watching comb out videos all morning, yet my own hair is still very much in rollers. it's like watching food network and being hungry, but also being too lazy to cook.
Loved the sound track of the Blue Collar Combo---rockabilly fits right in with your hairstyle from sponge rollers and your attitude---"ask your hair what it wants to do"!
I noticed your beautiful vintage nightgown. I also collect them. I feel so much more girly in them. The new ones I feel I look like a slob in them plus my husband loves them on me so that's a bonus.
You are beautiful but can everyone stop gushing for a second and appreciate the tutorial! Lol. I love your wet set tutorial because you show both the rolling technique and the brush out, which I now know has been the reason my foam roller sets never quite turned out right. Part of what I respect about the 40's and 50's is the time women put into their femininity. I sure wish I had the time and patience! Thanks for a great tutorial, I look forward to more!
Gosh, that your idea of perfection is photoshopped makes me feel yucky. I feel everything that is photoshopped has the charm of a coat hanger, and I feel like I just insulted coat hangers…
So gorgeous! I can't imagine how many compliments you get on your hair and total look. Wish more women would use rollers and wear their hair in 'do's rather than just 'out of bed, brush and go'.
I am beyond jelly of your perfect hair! I was wondering how your hair is cut? Or at the very least what are the best hair cut styles that are better suited for these type of hairstyles? I've found countless vintage hairstyles....but no haircuts!
Dollie, thank you so much for your videos on setting and brushing out your hair. I too have fine hair, and your methods have helped me tremendously. I appreciate it!
GORGEOUS!!! I'm trying to get my hair healthy again and just completely forgot what it is to even use the foam rollers this was a huge help thank you and I definitely love the style I've also been looking for a hairspray that won't get my hair hard I don't like that feeling so now I also even have a hair spray to go to LoL big thanks
Omg thank you so much!!! I had no problem getting the curlers in or out but every other tutorial just said "brush out the curls" you actually explained with the teasing etc. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!
The videos on how to roll, fix and maintain your wet set have been a great help. My first try was a fail because my hair was still wet and didn't dry but this second time I did it today my hair looked nice! Thanks for the help.
Did you like this video? I thought it was OK but its basically brushing out all of the curls...its a lot of work and I didn't really like the outcome. How did your hair look?
Xiomara Rodriguez you have to brush it some to get the kinks out and soften them up. Ive done it several times and each time looked fab. Totally worth it. I have foam rollers from dollar tree and some new ones i fiund at goodwill and both do the trick.
I just saw a vintage vanity's tutorial on sponge rollers and it made me cringe. She took her brush and really was ripping her hair out. I understand that these curls are manageable and they don't fall out as easily, but this method of brushing is much better.
starry night I know what you mean! but I really like vintage vanities stuff, she has such personality. See in both vids - I don't use hairspray or backcombs, so I would change their fabulous styles to suit what I do.
Thank you for posting this video! I always wanted curls in my hair but they never stayed, not even for two hours. The combination of the foam rollers and the pomade work magic for me! Its the first time the curls stayed in for a long(!) time. Thank you!
You are so adorable! Thank you so much for posting this! I never thought about teasing my hair after using foam rollers. I have to try this once my hair grows out.
Hey dollie , just wanted to say thanks you have inspired me to give this a try I bought a set of foam rollers and I'm going to give it a try tonight :)
I hear ya with those pin curls. It takes me forever, but it’s the only method that works for me. I tried the foam rollers, but I literally would have had to use 35+ rollers... not comfortable at that point!!
What happened to your show retro wives?? I loved it and was so excited when I saw a show like that on!!! I love everything 50s and retro so if it was a pilot tester epidode tell them I loved it and to bring it back!!! lol you we're my favorite too sassy attitude ❤
Omg thank you so much for this video (you even posted it on my birthday haha). I wanted a look like this and I only have foam rollers so I was very happy to find this! It definitely helped me out! Now I'm gonna look fabulous for my prom night :)
U look like you were time warped here from the 50's. Well done. Loved your tutorial. Im so inspired. I have such long hair though, what type of sponge rollers are there for very long hair?
I don't use any shine spray, just the pomade I show in the video. That provides hold against flyaways and gives a nice shine. Try it out! Wet sets keep your hair healthy too. :)
I loved this tutorial and the tutorial to put them in, and I have a question: Could I put them in from the top section to the bottom section? I just got my first set yesterday, and I tried to go from the bottom to the too, and I didn't find it very easy. My hair was a little wet and it got tangled when I unclipped it to get a new section. I hooe that makes sense... :/ That could be because it was my first time using them, but I just wanted to know if I could go from top to bottom.
Thanks for the courage to show yourself with foam rollers :) even with the rollers you look lovely. Thanks for the tips on teasing out each layer, using products each layer--so helpful. Will try this for my roller sets :) How long does the whole process take you?
pretty it came out great I love it, will try it on me now to get me some rollers:) I see them at the 99cent store or dollar store and always pass them bye, I will get them now, with my luck they'll all be gone lol, thanks Dollie :)
I love this tutorial . Thanks so much for posting this . May I ask how you maintain your wet set ? I mean , do you roll it again at bedtime, and do you wet it again , or do you just leave it loose , and sleep in a scarf , or hair net ? Again, love this tutorial , and I hope you post more , showing some other hair styles that you like :)
Hi , I recently subscribed :) Love this video , and can't wait for you to do some more . I hope you don't mind me asking but your hair has such beautiful shine . Do you use a shine spray , and if so , what kind do you use ? Your hair is so beautiful . Thanks for posting :)
Hi! I can’t find either of the pomades; The one in the comments box or the one you used in the video. Could you give me the link to the pomade you are using now? Thank you so much! Love your video!
@Renee Kuhn. This one's pretty good as is the setting spray that goes with it. www.suavecito.com/products/suavecita-pomade?variant=29877012292&gclid=Cj0KCQiAjZLhBRCAARIsAFHWpbHbZacHcQjTjD7uEzlSyebufWrpM2LeOxnzUGmLABS9swVi70b0cY0aAnz9EALw_wcB
I've seen so many wet set brush outs but you are the only one who has combed out the individual sections as you unroll them (then brush everything). That helps so much!
Finally a version of this hairstyle that doesnt look cartoonish
When I went to Beauty School, they taught us to not make straight parts for the hair that you put on the rollers that surround the face, but to zig-zag the parts, so that it blends together better when brushing it out.
That's a good idea.
How's that? Could you please explain in more detail or give a link to the photo? Would be very much appreciated!
StarWish246 i have no idea what you just said
I'll try it
@Forest Ellis Yea, have been using instaflixxer for since december myself :)
This is the best foam roller wet set tutorial I have seen out of tons. You make it so simple and easy to understand!
love it! i've been watching comb out videos all morning, yet my own hair is still very much in rollers. it's like watching food network and being hungry, but also being too lazy to cook.
The simplest, most sensible and practical way to do this style! You know what you’re doing.
Loved the sound track of the Blue Collar Combo---rockabilly fits right in with your hairstyle from sponge rollers and your attitude---"ask your hair what it wants to do"!
You are absolutely perfect! Remind me of a 50's doll and you don't see that much anymore. LOVE it $
I noticed your beautiful vintage nightgown. I also collect them. I feel so much more girly in them. The new ones I feel I look like a slob in them plus my husband loves them on me so that's a bonus.
This is the best tutorial I hope you do more!

Felt like I just travelled back in time for 15mins! Such a classy, vintage look.
Swears, my 80s Barbie's WISH they were so glamorous!!!!! Your hair couldn't be more perfect it was photoshopped!!!!
Gosh, that your idea of perfection is photoshopped makes me feel yucky. I feel everything that is photoshopped has the charm of a coat hanger, and I feel like I just insulted coat hangers…
So gorgeous! I can't imagine how many compliments you get on your hair and total look.

You are so adorable! Really love your vintage style. More women should take a wet set....
I can't get over how nice your skin is!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dollie, thank you so much for your videos on setting and brushing out your hair. I too have fine hair, and your methods have helped me tremendously. I appreciate it!
nice big beautiful curlers.i love the pink sponge rollers with the hairnet over it.
It was really helpful to see how you blended out the parting lines in your bangs. I can’t wait to use your technique.
Oh my gawsh you are so beautiful.. I love vintage and you did your hair perfectly! Can you also do make up tutorials? Thanks for everything! :3
Maybe in the future! I'm not the best, but I manage. :)
The videos on how to roll, fix and maintain your wet set have been a great help. My first try was a fail because my hair was still wet and didn't dry but this second time I did it today my hair looked nice! Thanks for the help.

Xiomara Rodriguez btw on my channel find the video called besame cosmetics review. There you can see how they came out
Oh OK. Just curious, I'm not a fan but I'm glad it came out well for you

You are so adorable! Thank you so much for posting this! I never thought about teasing my hair after using foam rollers. I have to try this once my hair grows out.

I don't use any shine spray, just the pomade I show in the video. That provides hold against flyaways and gives a nice shine. Try it out! Wet sets keep your hair healthy too. :)
You're such a beautiful person! I absolutely love your hair! May I ask how often you wash it? When I actually do my hair I only wash once a week.
Love your hair! What hair dye do you use to get that pearly blonde colour?
Thank you so much! your tutorials are sooooo helpful!
Thanks for the courage to show yourself with foam rollers :) even with the rollers you look lovely. Thanks for the tips on teasing out each layer, using products each layer--so helpful. Will try this for my roller sets :) How long does the whole process take you?
(Heart) your comment: really it's just hair, don't waste your life on it! :)
I am pretty fast at it now. I timed the setting at 14 mins and the brush out 15-20 mins, depending on how much I fuss with it. Which isn't much! :)
Dollie DeVille
Hi Dollie, that's great! It also takes me about 15mins to set my hair in rollers.
You're adorable! Thanks for the great video :)

Hi!
I can’t find either of the pomades; The one in the comments box or the one you used in the video. Could you give me the link to the pomade you are using now?
Thank you so much!
Love your video!
@Renee Kuhn. This one's pretty good as is the setting spray that goes with it. www.suavecito.com/products/suavecita-pomade?variant=29877012292&gclid=Cj0KCQiAjZLhBRCAARIsAFHWpbHbZacHcQjTjD7uEzlSyebufWrpM2LeOxnzUGmLABS9swVi70b0cY0aAnz9EALw_wcB
