Hello, good video, it helped me do it myself, I just took the hydraulic press to change the bearings, after the change the traction control light comes on and when scanning it gives me error P1773, do you know anything about this? And if I turn off the traction control system it works fine, it's a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander.
@@hopeguatem first thing I would do is get access to a scan tool that you can watch live data from the abs. Check wheel speeds on all 4 wheels, pay extra attention the wheel you replaced the bearing in. Could be an issue from install of the abs sensor or pick up ring.
Replace the two bearings, and when you see the information on the scanner, the two front wheels show speed. but when going a little faster the traction control light comes on flashing
@hopeguatem need to graph the wheel speed see if either of those signals have inconsistencies or drop outs. Could be small amounts of rust or debris on the pick up.
@@SMAutoRepairLLC Hello, I changed the two bearings again, only now look for the NTN brand, which are the original ones, and the traction control problem is gone. Thanks for the advice. Very kind.
@@wyelandlebeouf7202 What are you 12yo. I was a mechanic for 7 years. Do some research before making a snarky comment. Without the proper torque on that axle nut, the bearing will fail.
@@justapile4376 You were a mechanic for 7 years? Then, why didn't you simply comment the torque specs? The guy in the video used a torch, but you didn't suggest he include the type of gas he used. What are you 12?
A little heat and a chisel or carefully make a cut in the race and use a chisel to split it. If you access to a oxy acetylene torch you can heat and spin it off easily. If not the cut and split method is generally the easiest for a DIYER. Just be careful not to cut into the shaft of the hub.
Almost no rust on this vehicle made it super easy, you can put the axle nut on a few turns and use A dead blow hammer to try and push it out of the hub. You could also try a center punch in the middle of the axle shaft with a hammer just be cautious to not damage the threads on the axle.
@TheRivle Dewalt XR only for the price point and I have about 15 battery’s for the tools lol Milwaukee would probably be best if moneys not an issue. I just try and save where I can. But the dewalt has never let me down!
2 styles of axle nuts one that requires a cotter pin and others that are self locking. The locking nuts are very common on these newer models vehicles. Basically the outside threaded portion of the nut is not perfectly circular and really grips the threads when tightened down. No issue here.
Do the new bearings come with that little horseshoe locking pin, and if mine didn't, and the old one was broken can I get another one? Also I didn't see you put that on (the lock pin). However Im assuming it's fairly simple to pop in there, do you pop it in after you put the bearing in the knuckle, but before you put the hub in the bearing?
Depending on the brand bearing you purchase yes it may come with a replacement so just check when shopping for your part. If I skipped that step my apologies the retaining ring will go on right after installing the bearing into the knuckle and right before installing the hub.
Thanks, I work on all my own stuff, not because I'm a machanic, but I just don't have the money. So I often have questions. However, alot of people don't usually answer your questions, so again thanks man.

only if the bearing is already frozen solid and fully seized. Once it's in place the grease film breaks down and it/s there until you press it out again.
You must lube the contact surfaces when pressing in a bearing to aid in proper fitment. Any residual lube in that area will not cause slippage but it will reduce the chance of moisture ingressing to the area and causing rust.

I'll have to try it.
Think it would it be easier to just replace the whole hub assembly?
Unfortunately this requires a press bearing and hub no hub assembly for parts on this style.
Not all car has the complete hub assembly available on nearby market.
Salvage yard?

You should include any torque specs you use.
