This video is about Megadeth Hanger 18 Reaction!!
Dave's voice fits perfectly in Megadeth, end of story.
Many people who weren't following the band from the beginning just don't get that.
Some can try to imitate Dave. But you can't bring that sheer aggression and venom which Dave has.
Is he the best singer? No. Does his singing fit the band? hell yes.
Straight up man!
Cacophony 3711 he sounds like Elma Fudd.
Dave mustaine is not the best singer, but I have never had a problem with his vocals. They fit the songs very well and the style.
He's a better singer than grunting Hetfield, that's for sure. He simply hadn't found his singing voice yet in these older albums.
timjenkins502. Yes his voice fits his songs perfectly. Yeah, I mean he is not the best singer but, he is best for ]V[EGADET]-[.
Scizyr why the need to compare him to Hetfield though? Makes him look weak.
Hélder Tiago
blame Vin for the comparison, he set the precedent. Mustaine is a good singer in general, just not on the albums before Countdown.
He's fine when he just sings like on this song. When he does his lower register as an attempt to sound dark or intimidating, he sounds like hot garbage. Any time he steps out of the wheelhouse he has going on songs like Hangar 18, it sounds entirely too campy.
Mustaine doesn't just write the lyrics, he writes the entire song ( structure, tunes, riffs, tempo, his share of the solos and ALSO the drum and bass tracks ). He was the song-writer for 99% of Megadeth's material and is one of the greatest and most influential song-writers ever. In that video that you talked about, he didn't call his band members 'hired guns' to denigrate their ability, but instead, to properly define their *creative role* in the band's music. Its a common fact that Mustaine always looked for and publicly respected instrumentalists that could complement and play better than him to be hired in Megadeth.
Also, "no supporting cast to complement Mustaine" ???
1. Marty Friedman, Chris Poland, Chris Broderick, Kiko Loureiro are 4 of the greatest lead guitar masters in not just metal, but music in general, all of them had neo-classical and/or jazz fusion background before joining Megadeth. Each of them attributed their own flavor to the albums that they were associated with, that become totally inextricable with the sound of the record. They all have had more and honestly, better solos than Mustaine on their respective albums.
2. Gar Samuelson, Nick Menza, Dirk Verburen are some of the greatest metal drummers of all time.
3. Ellefson has been repeatedly touted by Mustaine himself as being one of the few talented bassists that could play support Megadeth riffs. He is widely regarded as one of the most skilled bass players ever, heavily underrated in the fanbase, hugely respected in the scene. Just listen to the isolated bass tracks of Megadeth songs to see how clean his tone and chops are.
I wouldn’t say 99% of material and what drum / bass has he wrote?
@@charleskopievsky1245 I mean he wrote the intro to Rust In Peace.... Polaris.
Anyone who doubts the validity of this comment, look up the Rust In Peace demo tapes to hear what Mustaine had put together. It's 90% of the album, with a garage band sound.
The solos in this one still give me chills
Marty’s solos are so exotic
Dave’s solos are so sporadically perfect
Think of it like this and you’ll always remember it...Marty played his solos with LOVE, whereas Dave played his with HATE...with this in mind you’ll never listen to Marty’s albums the same
@@iamtheking9418 EXACTLY!!!!
Huge Metallica fan here. And I always love to respect others' opinions.
Despite me not being the biggest Megadeth fan, if you hear Hangar 18 with straight faces like these, dude, you need to install more "metal" RAM in you. :p
One of the tastiest Megadeth tracks out there.
This track is literally made to shock you
Mate Megadeth destroys Metallica when it comes to writing music, like the instruments, not Dave's voice though cause I know most people don't like it, I'm a huge fan of both but I feel that when you compare Metallica's music to Megadeth's music, is like comparing kids metal to adults metal, Metallica is a bit way too simple at times, and also Megadeth has been way more consistent over the years because we all know Metallica released some awful songs, even James himself said that, Metallica was great until black album after that I have no idea what happened, St Anger is a crime against music, even thought I like 2 songs from it.
@@Maidenintime86 dude you're spitting facts right here..
"The military intelligence
Two words combined that can't make sense" You got that right, Dave!
28:38 that statement nearly gave me cancer. Nick Menza, David Ellefson and Marty fucking Friedman are not a good supporting cast?
the first 6 solos in the song are Marty's btw.
guitar battles live for real! Ellefson's bass is amazing on this track (as per usual)
Don't forget Chris poland, Kiko loureiro, Chris Broderick and Gar samuelson
If anybody had a good supporting cast it was him.. you've said it all
The classic lineup. I mean, each of them is a legend.
Personally, I think that Dave's voice is perfect for the music that Megadeth puts out. The anger shown by his voice perfectly resonates with the lyrics. It just works for me.
He has such emotion in his voice
Dave literally invented thrash metal on 1981 kill em all
alaziiii
kill em all is just a dave mustaine and cliff burton collab
venom
HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!
Period! 😆
VENOM
Sori can dislike Megadeth as much as she wants, but Vin said it. Dave IS an instrumental genius. I can tell from certain thumbnails that Vin is a guitar player. I don't know about Sori, but just because Megadeth sounds simple that doesn't mean they're not complex. WINGER sounds like other typical 80's glam metal bands, but to this day know one knows how to play the riff of "Seventeen" correctly unless Reb and Kip can show it to you. I believe Reb gave a "Seventeen" lesson on UA-cam once, so I guess some people can play it now. Mustaine's vocals in this one are good in contrast to other songs. The idea that this one is a 5 is just blasphemous. Sori bases too much critical evaluation on her taste intead of objectivity.
10/10 one off the all time metal classics.. and still shows modern metal whats up.. pure 80s thrash.. elite...
But this 8s a 90s song lol
shagnasty mostly written in the 80s
Mutaine was the main song writer in megadeth, he wrote every song, that's why he called other people in the band hired hands, but as far as the no supporting cast...You need to look in to the talent levels of his band mates, every guitarist that's ever been in megadeth is a damn master, Friedman, broderick, Poland, those 3 alone are all top 25 metal guitarists ever. And Nick menza and far samuleson...my god you won't find better drummers in metal. And Dave Ellifson on bass is probably the most underrated bass player of all time and I personally believe he is on par with cliff burton.
Kiko is a badass guitarist too!
Dave Jr. is an awesome rhythm player, but I don't think he has the soloing or compositional skills of Cliff. Atleast Dave can be heard in his albums though...
Rust in Peace was just as much a Marty Freidman record as it was a Mustaine record. Take those incredible solos out and the whole card house falls down because the soaring nature of the solos takes the music to the next level and Marty is a freak with that stuff.
Kiko Loureiro is a fucking god. Much better guitarist and much more educated than anyone that's ever been in Megadeth, including Dave.
Oh I could easily name better drummers in metal..Harclerode, Hoglan, Lombardo, Mazurkiewicsz, McGraw, Duplantier from Gojira, Adler, Haake,Sandoval, Richard Christy, Asheim..do you need me to name more drummers that bury every drummer Megadeth had with the exception of Adler, who played for them for awhile?
Oooo Audio on this one very Good. Remember these settings.
Yeup!!!
Yes indeed
I remember my first Megadeth concert.
They opened with Hangar 18 and it was FUCKING AMAZING.
Megadeth with their jazz transitions and classical compositions. Its boujee music, ha! Will forever be my favorite band. Again, always great to see y’all review music and you look beautiful, Sori!
Happy Eid to those celebrating ❤️
It really doesn't get better 👿
Schehrazad A boujee! 😂😂👍😂 My favorite band as well.
Yes, Hangar 18 was the big top secret installation in New Mexico I believe. Not used as much today because too many people found out about it.
Anthony Flanagan
Was the hanger at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, where they initially hid the crashed roswell crafts and bodies.
I thought it was the particular hangar in Area 51
Jose Valdez
Legend says wright patterson afb in ohio.
However i wouldnt be surprised if they atleast moved the craft wreakage to S4 which is very close to A51
Anthony hanger 18 is in area 51. still there and still being used. people today still go out as far as they can and if they see people can see anything they make their land barrier larger.
Christopher Morrissey
None of the alien stuff is kept at A51.
All hail Marty Friedman.
Hell Yeah!!! I'd like to see them react to Cacophony
Marty's awesome
this song has the exact same chord progression as metallicas "the call of ktulu" it was dave who came up with the riff in "the call of ktulu" and he reinvented it in "hangar 18"
021Sweden the more you know 🌈
Sori is / was completely dazed and confused. She is totally out of it and just didn't know what was happening while Vin was completely consumed by the music.
But she’s very attractive so it’s 👌🏻😂👍 great overall review tho!
Love n respect to you both ...great song choice 💯🤟
Sori, you really need to watch "Megadeth behind the music" its a VH1 documentary, think you have been really misinformed about Megadeth and Dave Mustaine, surely hope you can sit with Vin and watch the documentary its a bit dated aired early 2000s, but its all over UA-cam and it will explain a few things/facts, that you both need to hear
My FAVORITE Megadeth song! Thank you for doing this one!
Thanks for doing this one! Love it!
Loved the banter in this, very funny. Keep up the great work!
Megadeth - A Tout Le Monde. This song is probably Mustaine best vocal performance
Agreed, also pretty much all the songs on this album have really good vocals.
Kyle Roberson That would be Addicted to Chaos
I think the remake he did with Cristina Scabbia is more polished.
Captive Honor?
Varun Raviprasad That's a good one too.
Just have to say, I love Nick Menza. He was such a good drummer for this band in this time period. Such a tragedy that he died before we could have a reunion of this lineup.
Awesome review guys!! You are my favorite reaction channel really...
God this song has so many awesome solos.. you could just pick any one and put it in a song and that would be enough.
Excellent work yay!
Thanks guys I really appreciate this! One of the very few reactors who listen!
As a christiands you really should react to The Conjuring from Megadeth.... that is dark song. I think that the breakdown of that song would rise some intresting thoughts why Dave won't play that song live anymore or Black Friday. Dave's christianity nowadays plays a big part in that. I'd just like to hear your point-of-view about The Conjuring what may be behind Dave's decision.
Janne Tarhanen Dave's decision is because he played with dark magic and obscure spell. He wrote the songs around that and he's afraid of it now.
Janne Tarhanen ive noticed its back in there set list again👍🏻🤘🏻
THat's great! Too bad they didn't play that song in Finland. And I just watched the video, from Katowice; Poland and Plazen, Czech Republic. Song still rocks, nevermind the black magic lyrics nor the darkness... musicly song is freaking awesome.
But still VinAndSori should do the breakdown of this song \m/
They really should
Finally, thank for answering my prayers!
Best channel, love your chemistry. You two are so great together.
Weird...this just popped up as new.
I miss when you guys were like this!
These conversations are great!
Vin and sori. Great reaction video, I think you should do, In my darkest hour by megadeth. Please do more Megadeth.
Next one from Megadeth, Architecture of Aggression from Countdown to Extinction.
I love that song. Thanks for reviewing it!
you two are great to see how you feel about songs I was ready to talk shit in the beginning but I like you too
Hangar*
I was about to post the same but decided to see if anyone else had already done the correction. You got one like from me. : )
I did not even register it, but indeed it's there... - now people new to this will think the song is about coat hangers!
Coat hanger 18
You guys should do "Looking Down The Cross" by them. It's a phenomenal song from the first album, albeit obscure. The lyrics are very interesting, and overall it has a very compelling composition. One of Megadeth's best, imo.
Grechka-Chan Oh god yes
YESS!!!
I was thinking Good Morning/ Black Friday lol
Yeah, this song is one of my favorites, too. Would love to see any of them... or both!
Grechka-Chan Vin would shit bricks with that song lol
I broke my crash cymbal covering this song, the outro is so legendary my cymbal caved! Lol i was never a big Megadeath fan, but this song is so solid to me. I really really enjoy your talks after the song. Much Love!! ❤
way overdue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep it up Vinman
One of the best, smartest, and funniest channels around.
Thanks! -Sori 😊
Glad you're okay. Dang.
Ya thanks!! I’m glad too! -S
You don't get around much.
love this channel!
Pull me under- Dream Theater
Licence and registration please.😅
One of my favourite thrash tracks, and a Megadeth anthem at live shows (crowd chants).
The song pretty much stands on the trading of solos in the last two minutes.
honestly i like your all reactions
Hangar 18 is like 11/10 for me! haha
Nightwish = Ghost Love Score
It's time for some Nightwish (or Epica)
Live
Agree. Love ghost love score
Vin this story concludes in Megadeth - Return To Hangar which is more sinister lyrically and musically yet structured similary.
You two have a wonderful dynamic and fantastic chemistry btw.
Another great reaction/review. Thanks, you two. ❤
Love the reaction and this is one of my favorite albums by them. Nick menza the drummer came up with the album cover and in fortunately nick died a couple years ago on stage from a massive heart attack while playing with his new band.
Megadeth-angry again
Norman Tompkins What is that about?
David Heller what is what about , I was requesting a song dude
@@normantompkins5152 he's asking you what the songs about brother
Sweating bullets as well hahaha
Five Magics pls
In this one, as well as it was on Orion, I have to agree with Vin xD. Love your vids!
Still hoping to hear you react to Hook in Mouth of Megadeth's So Far, So Good, So What album. Saw them in Providence RI on that tour...yes I'm a bit older MAN. GREAT JOB . Keep it up love the videos.
P.S. once you get over your Tool hangover want to hear you pontificate on ROSETTA STONED
Hey Vin ya boi can sing let me explain why. Because singing isn't about being a technically accomplished vocalist its about what he brings to the song. And I think you haven't listened to enough of their different albums to get a good understand of what Dave as a singer brings to Megadeth. His voice changes with every album and to my opinion reflects the music perfectly. He had this raspy and high pitched voice which is basically what the guitars bring. If you give the later albums a try you'll see that his voice is ''better'' but even his earlier voice which is harder to appreciate has this kind of unique feel and in my opinion fits the songs perfectly. Also you said hes not really a good lyricist and I can accept that you dont like his voice but you certainly cant say he inst a good lyricist. I can't really defend that but you will need to experience more yourself to understand that.
Yay! New video
Ps: do in my darkest hour or hook in mouth
Darkest Hour!
In My Darkest Hour !!!
Don't
Hoook In Mouuuthhhh!!!!!!!
Jaakko Rantonen LIKE A FISH... WITH HOOK IN MOUTH
The discussion at 17:00 reminds me of the Helion Prime song 'The Drake Equation' (more awesome power metal !!!). To quote a few lyrics: "Are we alone, is there another world...Look to the equation and you will see, the probability"
2016 produced three of my favorite albums:
Vektor - Terminal Redux (best thrash metal album in recent years)
Fates Warning - Theories Of Flight (FW's best album period. 34 years into their career)
Helion Prime - Helion Prime (awesome Sci-fi/science power metal)
Thank you for playing that song
Please do Washington is Next! and Burnt Ice. You guys are the best.
No matter what Dave's said (a lot of this was a tongue in cheek, but you have to catch his sense of humor), he has always had exceptional musicians around him. Learn more about Megadeth, before you make such a stupid claim. Plus, this was not a heavy song - to be honest, it was the one of more melodic and accessible in their early discography, and definitely one of the lightest on this record.
Hangar 18 can't hold a candle against Five Magics. That song is just plain perfect.
Yesss! One of my favorite Megadeth songs 👌
you guys rock
React to Steven Wilson - Drive Home!!! (although it's not metal, it's a masterpiece of Prog Rock)
Metalomaniac_BR Guthrie GODvan sick solo
yes!
I'd say Routine would be a better one, although drive home is absolutely fantastic
Yes
Hey guys! React to some Iron Maiden classics as well!
UP THE IRONS 🤘🤘
Great tune!
Persefone - Inner Fullness!
Such a great and underrated band. They are very spiritual progressive metal. I would love to hear you break down this song.
Steve vai -tender surrender
nahdi farouk So much YESSS!! I've been requesting Vai FOREVER!
nahdi farouk Vin is gonna get jealous :')
Yes the live video please.
yes the live video!!
Touching Tongues is too overrlooked, everyone's on about this song or For The Love of God, boring...
Oddly I was the 2112 view...😉one day you'll get there.....🤘
There was a movie as from the early 70s late 60s called Hangar 18 as well. It was based of a NASA mission where a pilot saw something while in orbit.
Megadeth Holy Wars! it's one of their classics and they always play it on the encore set. It has amazing guitar transitions with a little middle eastern sound thrown in.
Could you guys react to some Deep Purple? Either Highway Star, Child in Time or Burn.
Great reaction!!
How about Loosen My Strings and Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming from Deep Purple too?
Cradle of Filth - Bathory Aria or Cradle of Filth - A Gothic Romance please!!
I've been recommending Queen of Winter Throned and other songs for a while. I don't see it happening. The next Cradle vid will probably be Nymphetamine or some other bleh song.
This was the song that got me into Megadeth, in particular, and thrash, in general. Thanks for the video!
Edit: There's a typo: It's HangAr 18. Like an airplane hangar.
Sori is so gosh darn pretty, you're a lucky guy Vin haha. Great reactions as always, keep em coming!
i believe Nick Menza(the drummer at the time) wrote the lyrics to this song.
No i believe that this is one of the first songs Dave wrote along with Jump in the Fire and Rust in peace...Polaris. I can be wrong though but i believe he has said that in a few interviews
"Hangar 18 is a song by American heavy metal band Megadeth from the 1990 album Rust in Peace. UFO conspiracy theories, or possibly Hangar 18, the 1980 film based on those theories, inspired drummer Nick Menza to write the lyrics". i think mustaine was talking about the guitar parts.
You're probably right i want to remember that dave said something like "People used to say that i didn't include my other members and now they make fun of us for having a song about aliens" i don't remember the exact quote but he said something like that.
haha, that's actually hilarious if he said that!
Nicks belief in aliens inspired Dave to write these lyrics.
Thanks for Megadeth:) Please react to Metallica - The Outlaw Torn, very beautiful song from their most underrated album Load, and one of the best Kirk's guitar solo.
Madfield And Fixxxer or Bleeding Me or No Leaf Clover. Vin needs to hear some of Hetfield's lyricism.
I never heard this song before....wow!!! Masters of speed guitar!
You gotta listen/watch/experience Sweating Bullets. Definitely one of my favorite songs of all time
Behemoth soon perhaps?
Menza (RIP) wrote lyrics for Hangar 18. Technically Mustaine wrote them, but Menza (drummer) was the brain behind it.
dont know if somebody has already said but the intro riff is also the same chord progression as Metallicas the call of ktulu intro hence Dave sondwriting credits on the ride thr lightning album
Just stumbled onto yals channel today, should look up Twisted Sister: We're Not Gonna Take It, or I Wanna Rock
I like Dave Mustaines voice. An interview with Penelope Speeris the creator of the decline of western civilization like Megadeth and Dave Mustaine.
When Dave was kicked out from Metallica to me was very hypocritical, They kicked him out for his drug and alcohol but yet the rest were using as well. This is why when i learned that, Metallica went from being #1 to being second class. Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax is far better then Metallica in my book.
Yeah, but the rest of Metallica didn't let it get in the way of recording their first album. They had virtually no money and could barely afford the studio time, and Dave would show up and not be able to do the job. If I were in a band, I'd kick someone like that out, too.
Metallica were not drug addicts at this point. They never were, except Lars, who took cocaine for some time. But Mustaine was a mess and he was always in trouble with something back then . They were absolutely right for kicking him out. They were going for the top and with someone like Mustaine in the band, it could have never happened.
I think it was pretty hypocritical of dave to kick out the guys for the same reasons
Dave was a mean drunk and the rest of the dudes in Metallica were Silly drunk. That's why I didn't work.
Vin somehow went from saying Mustaine can't sing to saying he wanted to hear more of Mustaine singing in the same review. Sori gave this masterpiece a 5. Wtf is wrong with you two?
Carcass - A Congealed Clot Of Blood
What's wrong with that? I'd give most of the Megadeth songs a 5. I'm just not a fan of their writing, stile, compositions. And for me Mustaine can't sing. Period. He could sound decent in the studio sometimes, but live he was always a mess.
@@martos60 They can't write but damn you still misspelled a word and you even editied your comment and still butchered it. I mean they're reactions are biased towards megadeth and don't know shit about them. That's what makes me not enjoy them. Like they're literally on the metallica vs megadeth when that shit needed long ago.
Awesome review guys as usual, love this song 🤘🤘 Vin I agree with you mate,
Debauchery - Demonslayer
Ex Deo - I, Caligula
Rotting Christ - Four Horseman
Amon Amarth - Under the Northern Star 😉
Probably one of the top 10 Metal solos ever.
React to Nutshell by Alice In Chains
Trying to get Sori crying again? 😂
Awesome MVS gotta be the live unplugged version
Ohhhhh... some AiC. Oh yeah!
No matter what, you MUST watch the old black & white Live concert footage of the song 'Love, Hate, Love'.
Layne Staley's vocals are absolutely legendary. One of the greatest examples from the early days! RIP Layne.
'Junkhead' is another great one.
SepticFlesh - Enemy of the truth ! please
Yes!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
For the win...
First of all, i really enjoy the new camera.
Getting the best reaction possible when i can see you clearly now :)
i love how you stop and deconstruct every part when you reviewed songs on your older videos.. this has quickly become my favorite youtube channel since i've practically poored all my free time watching you two at night XD ..
The Cradle of filth Video seems to have the most views yet, so, how about a suggestion... Devilment, its the second band of Dani Filth, a bit more pop, still dark. I would recommend the song called "Full Dark, No Stars"
Its a bit about trying to find hope when none exists, when quilt and pain knocks on your door at night.
Its not a musical masterpiece per say, but its very catchy, melodic, dark and beautiful.
Noone has ever reviewed the band yet, so you can be the first channel to do so.
Plus, no religious downsides.
I would appreciate it if you checked it out on your spare time and consider maybe doing a review.
Thanx
Nice reaction. I love this song!
Btw, please react to Candlemass - Where the runes still speak!
One of the best singers out there if ya ask me!
I am not sure why a fan of tool fails to like Megadeth it's just rather weird you'd think there would be lots of overlap. I just do not get tool fans *AT ALL* no offense Sori.
Hahhah none taken😜
Same in reverse for me.. love Megadeth.. not a fan of Tool. Maybe I just haven't heard the right songs yet. Not that I think Tool is bad.. just given the choice between listening to the two.. I'd pick Megadeth 100 out of 100 times... and well.. I have almost every Megadeth album on the mp3 player I take to work with me.. so there's not much time for listening to bands that I am not really a fan of.
Peace
UOAbigail LeVey
It's the same for me. In my case, I have found Tool songs that I really like but there are songs that I just don't care enough. I actually like A Perfect Circle and Puscifer mote than I likr Tool. They are great musicians non the less, just not my type. I have a feeling that Sori is just not a guitar person. For her, it is more of a background music that supports the actual theme of the lyric, which is a lot of what Tool does. They have awesome time changes but that pretty much it .
And yet I love both ;)
Riverside - Second life syndrome
SrB kosovo Reality Dream Trilogy 😅
for me this is an example of good metal song
i love the transitions= chorus - solo l - chorus - solo ll - solo lll - solo iv...
marty friedman's solos are crazy
Fun fact: The initial progression chord in "The call of Ktulu" from Metallica was written by Mustaine and that's why he is on the credits. Mustaine use the same progression in the beginning of this song. Great analysis. Greetings from Temuco, Chile
megadeth symphony of destruction
If you want to hear Dave mustaine at his best vocally you have to listen to something off of the album youthanasia
Hanger 18 is the aledged hanger at Wright Patterson Airforce Base where craft wreakage and alien bodies where moved to following the Roswell recoveries.
This song is off the same album as the song " Holy Wars....The Punishment's due" which is Rust in Peace. Hanger 18 was a actual hanger at the Wright-Patterson Air Force base that was thought to house the crashed UFO from Roswell, New Mexico. It still exists to this day.
You should react to something out of countdown to extinction, youthanasia or cryptic writings seems more suitable for you is not as heavy and fast and his voice sounds better
Testament = dog faced gods
Slayer = playing with dolls
Ministry = psalm 69
Mushroomhead = sun doesn't rise
i would state that "low" is a very underestimated album ... my brother and i went and saw testament like a month ago, it was fucking awesome and they even played the song "low" :D
Playing with dolls is crazy then again its Slayer always to extremes you wish you were in hell lol!
Hangar 18 - Google it haha....Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio... supposed storage facility for the Roswell crashed craft and EBE's...saw them perform this live in 2013, they definitely rocked it!
There are people who “actually!” Love Dave’s vocals! It grew on me it’s iconic lol i saw megadeth reaction vids of first timers and they like Dave’s vocals didn’t see any problem with it.
