I was educating myself with this and then I saw you slap the logo on the case and went "Palmetto...wait a damn minute" and you guys are down near Codfather...
Dealers warn you may be electrocuted, but I see you took no precautions (ie rubber gloves, insulated tools). Your instructions are clear and thorough - thanks.
hi I watched your vid it is excellent! Just wondering when u buy the new battery is the fan a part of the new battery? Or did u take it off the old battery that came out ? And attach it to new battery before installing? Or is the video EXACTLY as it looked where it all comes together battery and fan come out together and new one goes right in? Also I don’t have access to any diagnostic equipment after I finish installation would this b a problem for me? Thank you sorry about so many questions!
Thank you for your video. I watched your video and then changed out the hybrid battery on my 2013 gen 3 Prius. Excellent price on line purchase from Toyota dealership. Thanks to your video I saved a lot of $$$$.
I am looking to possibly purchase a 2012 prius c. It has 261,000 miles on it and so far I don't have any reason to believe that the battery has ever been replaced. This video gives me confidence that I may be able to buy a battery for 2,000-2,300$ and do the work myself. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you so much.
Awesome! Those cars will live forever if you just keep the battery good and the car in working order. I'm here if you need me and will more than likely have these in stock if you ever need one. I've put these batteries in cars with 325K miles.
This gave me a lot of information on how to replace the high voltage battery in a Prius because I plant on byeing a 2011 Prius but the high voltage battery has never been changed and I looked up how long the battery’s last and it said 8 to 10 years so this helped me out Thankyou you
Thank you for the wonderful comment. We will be doing some more informational videos on hybrid and lithium batteries in the very near future. Please subscribe if you have a chance.
Hello. I have a ford fusion/mondeo 2.0 hybrid 200,000 kilometers with the following errors: P0B4A:00 hybrid battery voltage sense D circuit P0B24:00-28 hybrid battery a voltage unstable and P0B4A:00-28 The car sometimes stops working on electricity, it only runs on petrol and then it recovers. what do you recommend? can the battery be changed like the toyota in this clip? or should adaptation be made from the diagnosis? thank you very much
Your video of replacing hybrid battery is very informative. Great job. Can you update next video about cleaning prius EGR cooler and valve. I look forward to your next video. How much about replacing the hybrid battery?
Hello, great video, thank you for sharing. I am looking to replace the hybrid battery for 2010 Toyota Prius. Where is the best place to buy the after market battery that you suggest? I live in Colorado. Thank you.
Man how complicated is it to replace the plug-in version battery? I can’t find any videos, is it the same concept just bigger battery cells and more trim to remove? Please let me know
Hello sir, I need your help! I have a 2010 Prius hatchback. Last week I saw the warning light⚠️ and “Check hybrid system” on the screen! I need a maintenance in the hybrid battery! How could I get in touch with you?
Purchased a new hybrid battery pack for my Prius 10 3rd generation and it does not have a vent pipe and noticed on your video you did not have one either, Is it not necessary?
Is it standard that the entire assembly is replaced including the cooling fan? Mine which is still under warranty shall be replaced by Toyota service center soon. So I will get a new clean fan!
We just replaced headgasket on 2011 Prius have check hybrid system message and check engine light. Also weird thing check engine light stays on dimly but still on when car is completely off. I've been told bad ground could be to blame for both check engine and check hybrid system messages.only 3 wire grounds disconnected during this job. Two of the 3 go into harness the last one from valve cover to chassis ground. Never had the hybrid message before or the check engine. Does stuff have to be relearned? Can you help. I'm going to scrape the paint off chassis ground and clean surface on other end at valve cover. Thanks. Was able to get car started once but messages remained.
Have you tried unhooking the 12v ground then pulling the service plug - reinstall the service plug and ground on 12v? That procedure often will clean up lights staying on.
@Palmetto Battery Pros I haven't tried pulling the service plug out since reinstalled after headgasket I just slid to left a couple of times I will try completely removing it
Hi. I went to get my vehicle smog after I replaced the hybrid battery. And I was told that there’s a permanent code that still says to replace the hybrid battery even though I replaced it. I’ve driven this car well over 1000 miles with the replaced battery. How do I get rid of that permanent code?
I just replaced my battery with cylindrical ones, just like the ones you use. After installation, the car starts good but once I drive, code p3021 comes on saying that block 11 becomes weak. Do you have any idea what may be happening? I am pretty sure I out everything in place correctly. P.S. check engine, warning, stability control and check hybrid system lights came up.
Thank you so much for the tutorial, I have a question, I've seen some videos that replacing the HV battery without removing the seats, What you think? I mean is it doable in real life scenario ?

Once you remove the service plug the battery is safe to work on. Always check voltages to double check.

Where are you guys based ?
We are located in Charleston, SC.
Do you strictly do Prius batteries? Have you ever done a Gen II Volt traction battery?
We install aftermarket batteries and have not seen aftermarket batteries for the Volt.

I believe you can remove them, I just always have to give myself plenty of room. Maybe I'm just used to doing it because I did so many Gen2 Prius.
