      I made this comment to a MKBHD video that was recently posted. It truly is a hypocritic behavior by those biggest tech youtubers not to talk about something which is essentially a scam.
      "Listen, in this day and age, if you buy a 600/700 or a thousand dollar phone, you will be more than happy with it. So how much do we need phone reviews now? But you know it I know it and everyone else knows it what the problem has become. And that is our phones getting damaged through software updates. We buy a phone today, for couple of years, no problem whatsoever. However maybe 2 to 3 years down the line, green line appears after software updates. There are numerous videos regarding these issue by fairly well known youtubers. MKBHD, its our heartiest request to you that you make a video on this, because these phone companies are straight up scamming us by damaging our phones through software updates and forcing us to buy phones every 2 to 3 years. That is the more important topic to talk about than talking about that the new phone has better dynamic range. Hardly anyone cares about slightly better dynamic range, but people are suffering due to these green line and other issues that appear on phone through software updates after 2 to 3 years. PLEASE. You are MKBHD. You MUST talk about these and create awareness"

    I am a victim of green line issue. a green line spontaneously appeared on My Samsung M52, while I was adding a contact. I had to shell out 7000/- for a new display.
    I heard someone say that EU has mandated free screen replacement for this green line issue.
    Unfortunately, our Govt doesn't care and brands are happy to take us for a ride.

      My mother's M52 also started making green lines and over the period it expanded to the point of no clear visibility. Changed it to an LCD display at local repair shop for 2200. IPS LCD is underrated i feel.

    I bought my vivo iqoo 9 august 2022 and haven't updated it and even in 2024 my phone is running just like the day i took it out from packet without a single issue. The moral of the story is please don't be in a hurry to software update your phone . And about Mr. Ranjeet he is the only youtuber whom i can beleive. Huge respect for this man.

      True! My last Samsung died in a few days after software update. I rarely update my Vivo phone and it has been working fine for more than 2.5 yrs so far

      My oneplus nord ce 2 lite is also dead after software update ,and service center is asking to pay full price for mother board replacement. I will Never buy any one plus product again 😢 😢

    Excellent question. If companies can't even provide 3 years of warranty, but charge north of 1.5 lakhs with claims of software support for 5~7 years, that's just plain bullshitting.
    Been following the smartphone tech industry for 7~8 years now and not a single reviewer is this bold to directly question and name brands. Ranjit is the only guy, asking questions that need to be asked. Hats off!

      While I appreciate the notion, it would be unfair to say that only Ranjit Sir is doing this. Surprisingly, a lot more reviewers, like GyanTherapy and Techno Ruhez, have been vocal about these issues lately. While I hope these voices to have some impact on companies' attitude towards these issues, eventually I feel like we as customers need to also vote with their wallets so that they stop taking us for granted.

In that case, you unfortunately have no recourse but to buy something and just be hopeful that you don't win the unlucky lottery

    It is not a bug, it is a feature. Planned obsolescence, a key trait of rapid mass industrialization. Brands don't "know" it is happening, brands are making it happen.

      Yes, I also think that they are just reducing the smartphone life to increase sales. They intend to make us use a smartphone for maximum 1 year, so that a single user will have to buy the new version every year.

      I didn't believed it earlier but this started happening right after updates, making it suspicious! Also brands always know what problems rival brands are facing. They think we are dumb to assume everyone stumbled from the same rock on road. Even if they knew, they said fk it we ain't be taking responsibility as it's out of warranty and we can deny even if there a hairline scratch on display as said by oneplus care on a call. With tighter competition of updates and sh*tty support and quality control, they're making it obvious that they don't intend to make the phone last that much even if updates are supported. People don't upgrade every year, my phone is almost 4 years old and I'll update next year, Pixel 8 was a good deal but I avoided as it's impossible to last 7 years given the problems from day 1(I have Pixel 4a and it works just fine apart from battery backup)

    Yes Sir, totally agree with this. nowadays phones have become more expensive than some brand-new two-wheelers, and they're even providing with 2 to 3 years warranty. and providing the option of extending it for one to two years, so why not cellphone companies do the same even when their profit margin is more than that of automobile manufacturers.

    My Samsung J7 prime and iPhone 7 plus, 7 years usage still good🫡. But Samsung M52 and S21FE got green line after 1.5 Years😢.That is power of LCD displays.😎

      Faced similar issue with my s21 fe as well. It restarts alot in the name of updates. And screen freezes too, the green light shows up too at times..lost my trust in samsung.

      LCDs are basically like the superheroes of the display world currently...
      Yes they don't offer "the best" visual experience, but at least you can sleep in peace knowing that your LCD display won't fail all of a sudden...

      If that happened don't go for original screen which is expensive go for lcd you can get at 2500 max but you will feel some lag but for me the lag is minor issue its better than spending on overprice so called original screen

    The worst part is that these companies blame the green line issue on the user themselves by citing BS reasons like liquid damage, almost non existent bends and other reasons to shrug their responsibilities. Absolutely Pathetic.

      even after diagnosing the issue is not caused by the users, brands want the customer to pay for the repair or replacement of the display. and apple has gone ahead than others by giving free display replacement to some influential users and denying normal users for random reasons which they will not disclose to users.

    A CRAZY thing happened with me. Today while having lunch I watched this exact video. Very honestly I thought of commenting that Vivo & IQOO phones mostly doesn't have this problem. I am using a IQOO 9T which was a Flagship in 2022.
    The CRAZY part is today at 8PM I got a very bright straight green line on my phone. I tried switching the phone off, restart etc. But nothing worked. I guess this is a such a "Deja Vu" moment.

      But Vivo usually has the best service centres. What did they tell? They fixed a 3 year old budget phone for free when I went although it was not the brand's mistake.

      What bothers me is you need to buy the warranty extension within 30 days of purchase of the phone. What? The extended warranty starts after the normal warranty expires, so I should have 1 year to buy the warranty extension.
      I remember when I had a Nokia 5130 it started having motherboard issues towards the end of the first year. It would format automatically and I have to go to the service centre and flash the ROM again and again. So, I bought the extended warranty which they offered, when only a week was left. Eventually they changed the motherboard on the extended warranty, and it lasted forever.

    Quality control doesn't even seem to exist in the mobile manufacturing sector. Panel gaps/misalignments/display issues/half-baked software updates, etc... As customers, it is us who suffer ultimately, visting service centers & whatnot.

      Get it repaired outside in market cost around 10k. Service centre was asking for 34k. My device was not having physical or water damage. It all happened due to software only.

    Every tech youtuber should put out a video on this issue and also specify brands that cause this issue and rank the company regarding the issues( for ex top 5 unreliable/reliable smartphone companies)..... companies shld be ashamed of this behaviour... youtubers along with public can put a lot of pressure on these companies if they start complaining on mass....it is not acceptable at all to have these issues. When a person invests 50-60k or more or even less he/she should get the full experience till whatever period the company pushes its updates for be it 3 or 5 years ..,but for a phone to start having issues in just 1 or 2 years is just unacceptable.
    These stupid brands are taking us public for granted. Stop investing in AI and ur brand ambassadors too much and start investing more on better and reliable hardware.
    Shame on such brands that do not take accountability for the mediocre products.

    Even though Apple has Apple Care+, which extends the warranty and provides accidental damage protection, it costs a lot and is not extendable further. After Apple Care+ has ended, there is no option to renew it in India. However, in countries like the US, you can easily extend Apple Care+ to 2 more years after it is expired. Makes me wonder if quality issues like these are only happening in phones manufactured in India.

    Great that this issue is addressed now. But this started 4 years back on OnePlus and now Samsung and other brands with green lines. All UA-cam's should address this and not only focus on money.

    Really glad to see someone addressing the real issue. I still remember, I started watching your videos in 2014 while doing my research prior buying my moto g. From that time many came as reviewers but later on the reviewers itself become the brand amabasaddors for the phones. But still you're the same, still cares about your audience and addressing the real issues. This is kind of a serious scam from the mobile manufacturers that after one year we are forced to upgrade our phones in fear of these hardware issues. If any hardware issues arises the door for exchange option also shuts for us. After paying premium for these phones and holding this with a fear is unacceptable as customers and the brands should come up with a solution for this.

    All people in my family use Motorolla as going by reviews the Motorola phones were good, but in just 2-3 years the phones have become slow and hardware issues have started occurring. The issue is phones are not in warranty anymore and to get it serviced we have to shell out even more. I think two years of warranty on Smartphones should be by default and with an extended warranty option for another 2-3 years at least.

    After just 15 months of use, my iPhone 13's motherboard suddenly died following an update. Despite the phone costing 60,000 rupees, Apple didn't even bother to check or acknowledge the issue as it is out or warranty.It's frustrating to see such an expensive device fail and get no support in return.       I made this comment to a MKBHD video that was recently posted. It truly is a hypocritic behavior by those biggest tech youtubers not to talk about something which is essentially a scam.
      "Listen, in this day and age, if you buy a 600/700 or a thousand dollar phone, you will be more than happy with it. So how much do we need phone reviews now? But you know it I know it and everyone else knows it what the problem has become. And that is our phones getting damaged through software updates. We buy a phone today, for couple of years, no problem whatsoever. However maybe 2 to 3 years down the line, green line appears after software updates. There are numerous videos regarding these issue by fairly well known youtubers. MKBHD, its our heartiest request to you that you make a video on this, because these phone companies are straight up scamming us by damaging our phones through software updates and forcing us to buy phones every 2 to 3 years. That is the more important topic to talk about than talking about that the new phone has better dynamic range. Hardly anyone cares about slightly better dynamic range, but people are suffering due to these green line and other issues that appear on phone through software updates after 2 to 3 years. PLEASE.     A week ago my phone (Iqoo 9T 5G (8 GB RAM/256 GB storage)) developed a green line in the screen while browsing. The phone is little over 2 yrs old . Luckily, the Vivo service centre replaced the screen with zero cost. Government / consumer forums should step in and create a framework to solve these kind of incidents which affects many consumers.

    In other countries like UAE , USA, canada etc. samsung give 2 years of standard warranty on unlocked smartphones & prices are usually cheaper than india

    first time commenting here. got a moto edge 30, 2yr+, pink line came randomly then turned to green, now have 4 lines, service center rejected the free replacement due it being 2yr+ old phone, but they were happy to replace 1.5 yr old phones, even if the defect is the same.

      Same my moto edge 30 got green line issue after update and they were charging 9k for screen. I bought a new phone instead.

      Same!!! I got the moto edge 30 when it was launched! It was running fine for 1 year! On the 13th month after the purchase I saw a green line flicking on my screen! At first it was not that noticeable and it used to disappear after some time, but now half of my screen is covered with green and pink lines!
      And before anyone comes after me saying I must have dropped it, no I haven’t dropped it even once during that one year of use! I had used my honor 10 for 4 years had to change it only because my volume and lock buttons stopped working and the battery got fully discharged as I was travelling for 13 hrs and I could not turn it on after that and I had also used Xiaomi note 3 for 3 years before that! Which is still running till now so my Xiaomi note 3 is almost 8-9 years old, the battery still runs for 5-6 hrs! So I do take great care of my devices!
      This green line issue was a big disappointment! And it is a shame that modern devices have this issue, when an android from 9 years ago is still running till now without any major issues! (Beside the battery degradation which is a very normal thing).

      Even if u are in warranty service center people are trash they will tell u you that your phone got liquid damage u have to pay for this repair . but thats not the case

    Recently My iPhone 14 pro display got greenscreen,
    A week before my phones incident my cousin’s 13 got 3 coloured display,
    And a month before that my uncles 14 pro max display got green screen issue.
    there are a hell lot of incident in my area. which i have witnessed.
    Since there is no apple authorised repair store in my country. We have to depend on local repair.
    Thanks for Addressing the issue I think More tech influencer should strongly cover this issue.
    Why we need pay for their Manufacturing fault.

      bro, third party means company giving the contract on behalf of them, service protocol will be issued by parent company only. don't think that service centre means google or Apple executive will be working in the service station

      @@kirans2300 Sorry Brother I have used the wrong word I should call it local repair since the one apple authorised service center quoted me 35k for the display change.
      And the local shop was able to Repair it around 4k because no display change was required. And it was including water resistance restoration.

    The only UA-camr in India who cares and takesup sensible issues of Customers and voices out responsibly! Always my Greatest Respects for Ranjith sir! I've bought all my devices watching Ranjith sir reviews only! My Moto Edge 30 (8/128) variant had auto restarting issue suddenly and the authorised service center finally said that the mother board failed and it was 1yr and 11 months old only! I bought it for 30k but now they are saying to buy new motherboard which cost 21k and no other support from Brand side! Pathetic Situation! Using my Mom's Poco C3 now😢

    If, almost all such cases of damages (green line issue, motherboard issue, etc), always take place after the warranty expires, then it might be intentional, which is even worse for us consumers. With a deliberate defective patch update to 1-2 yr older phones, they can actually break it. 👀

    I have a wild theory that these manufacturers are causing these issues deliberately just to put fear in users so that later they can come up with an official extended warranty program to snatch more money from users and I believe that once buying an extended warranty becomes normal they'll stop pushing such updates. Apple has been a great example of slowing down and degrading the battery of old phones to maintain the demand for new iPhones and we all know Apple had to pay for it later.
    Smartphone industry has reached the point where you can't see much innovation in newly launched phones so users are sticking with their devices longer than they used to.

      Yes because those who buy Pro phones won't upgrade for at least 3-4 years because they don't lag (I'm still using my iPhone 8 Plus and it runs smooth). Hence, they use such cheap tactics to damage the phones so that the user is either forced to buy a new one or replace the parts so that they can earn money through that. Israel can blast pagers through software. So it should not be difficult to break the screen through software. Because my iPhone 13 Pro showed same green screen after a SOFTWARE UPDATE !!!

    I had samsung M31 which I used from 2020 oct - may2022. It was great for me and i hadn’t any need to change it as it was going good. A12 update came and I updated it in order to enjoy the next level customisations. 3-5 days the device was good and my mobile just dead and it was booting endlessly. When I asked a local shop vendor he said it is a motherboard issue and I was almost the 10th customer to come for a repair in his shop.
    One needs to address the issue. Glad u did and hope we can get a good response from the brands about this issue.

    Goverment just like they are taking action aganist other country apps and security
    Similarly also should start looking the issue within the country itself for these GREENLINE , Motherboard issues
    - All Smartphones should move to 2 years direct warranty + Extended warraty if req based on user
    The warranty should cover all the issues be it due to their 3rd class QC and QC in Software

    2:00 I faced the same issue in my Poco X3 pro . In 2021 I had purchased poco x3 pro at 21000 after considering the outstanding gaming performance of the phone and this was the most expensive I have ever purchased expecting that It will last for at least 5 years . However after 3 years (i.e 2024) suddenly the phone became dead and people at the MI service centre told me that my phone motherboard is dead and it will cost another 10-15k. to fix it. Since the life of the phone has exceeded 1 year therefore I have no warranty cover .and I had no other option to sell the phone and a scrap value. I also want to say that the company promise to give update for 3 years and since the majority of the these mother board issues were happening after the update the company decided to cancel the updates so now you are not receiving updates and living with a constant fear that your expensive phone will just become dead any day . I am also so disappointed with the tech youtuber I have every single video on my phone at the time of purchase and no one literally no one even talked about the compatibility of the motherboard with the processor .. i think the tech youtuber should provide more in-depth knowledge about the hardware and software of the phone and should just stop uploading unboxing video (just a waste of time ) . Also I would like to mention that I handle my phone with the utmost care and love I don't know why but I love my phones . Hope the creator contacts will one day Stand with their viewers against the mobile company's to make after sales service more convenient for the user.

    I remember my “smart” TV’s displays from big brands going bad just after the 1 year warranty period when they all came with 1 year warranty initially and I just had to buy new one every year or two, but now I see many brands have come up with additional 1 year warranty on the display panel at least and also the option to extend warranty.
    Glad to see the brands making the change, hope the phone companies follow the same.

    For My Iphone 13 pro (3 years old), I got white screen after a software update (July 2024) and I got a free replacement in UNI store (Pune). Apple accepted that it was no physical damage and was something to do with voltage changes after the upgrade.

      I made this comment to a MKBHD video that was recently posted. It truly is a hypocritic behavior by those biggest tech youtubers not to talk about something which is essentially a scam.
      "Listen, in this day and age, if you buy a 600/700 or a thousand dollar phone, you will be more than happy with it. So how much do we need phone reviews now? But you know it I know it and everyone else knows it what the problem has become. And that is our phones getting damaged through software updates. We buy a phone today, for couple of years, no problem whatsoever. However maybe 2 to 3 years down the line, green line appears after software updates. There are numerous videos regarding these issue by fairly well known youtubers. MKBHD, its our heartiest request to you that you make a video on this, because these phone companies are straight up scamming us by damaging our phones through software updates and forcing us to buy phones every 2 to 3 years. That is the more important topic to talk about than talking about that the new phone has better dynamic range. Hardly anyone cares about slightly better dynamic range, but people are suffering due to these green line and other issues that appear on phone through software updates after 2 to 3 years. PLEASE.       It's a scamming by the smartphone brands, because you can use a slower phone if that happens down the line but when green line appears, you have to upgrade because green line doesn't just make the phone unusable, socially it also makes you look poor using a phone with green line. So you must buy a new phone. Its such an evil plan by smartphone manufacturers. And its an hypocrisy by the big youtubers not to talk about it.

    I hope small brands like Nothing which is new to the market should take this kind of initiative which would gather trust in them and also increase their sales . Everything starts from 0 so while you are still on the growing stage while other brands are making this mistake why don't you take this chance to improve your product and get the trust of the consumers

    An issue that is happening worldwide and many reviewers are moot about it. Literally daylight robbery by mobile phone companies. Making sub par quality products and charging a fortune for it. Then when the phones have issues due to manufacturing defects/quality in a year or 2, they make you pay to get it fixed. Worldwide action need to be taken against these companies!

    went to 3rd party' repair centre they did something voltage jumper thing and fix it in 2k rupeee..

    True , my dad had Moto g I guess g52 . Within 1.5 years it started having green lines to a point now it's almost not usable.

    Thanks for speaking out about this Ranjit. I have a Galaxy S9 from 2017-18 and the green screen issue happened to me towards the end of the warranty period. They changed something on the mobo, not the screen mind you. Worked fine for a few months and then it happened again. This time the phone was outta warranty. Quite a scam in my opinion cause I later found out that the screen needed to be changed the first time its self.
    In my opinion it happens to a lot more than 1% of smartphone users but the the problem is that it is usually outside the warranty period and so there isn’t much noise about it. What’s suspicious is that it always happens right around the end of the warranty. Not many tech influencers have spoken about this so thanks a lot!!

    Excellent! I too faced the issue twice with Samsung phones. Samsung M31s and S22 Plus. Now, I am using S24 Ultra and I've decided not to update my device once it goes out of warranty. Urge you all to NOT UPDATE your out-of-warranty phones🙏
    In both the devices, I got an update after 1.5 years and then the M31s bricked, they asked me to replace motherboard which was costing around 18k (After N number of escalations, they offered it for 10k but I declined). S22 Plus got slowed down pretty much, like if I click on whatsapp it will take 30 seconds to load the app, they told me to replace motherboard which costs 38k.

      @@SpectrumX93 Not everytime but if you have enough badluck on your side. M31s was working perfectly fine, updated it and it went on a boot loop. Service center denied everything

      I'm facing the same issue in my s22 plus. First I replaced the screen which wasn't free and now it just lags and after some freezing it just reboots again and again.
      Now they're telling me to replace the battery
