I have a really hard time ending things when I know it's not good for me or either of us...
My husband and I watched Jigsaw and laughed the entire time. It really is that we are whole people without the other person. We are better together, but we admire each other’s puzzles!
My ex did everything wrong. For six months all of her friends knew I was going to be dumped. When she finally decided to do it, all of my subsequent text messages and pleading were screenshotted and sent to all her friends (because she "didn't know what to say"). That was the most humiliating thing anyone has ever done to me. She replaced me within three weeks.
Trust and abandonment issues are the result and ive had them for the past two years, whilst she and the replacement are in perfect bliss.

Don't string the other person along once you've decided to break up with them.
Faking a relationship when you've broken up with them is just going to hurt the other person and break their heart over months or years instead of in one big go.
