A remake is unnecessary since it would be time-consuming and would likely not replicate what the original was meant to be
With Shun Nakamura stating that he would like to have the opportunity to remake 06, the stars may be falling in alignment to make this dream a reality! 1) Sega has stated last year that they are open to remaking/remastering old 3D Sonic games, and the Sonic 06 Producer just this week has shown interest in revisiting Sonic 06. 2) A Sonic 06 Remake would be the perfect game to launch aside with Sonic Movie 4 in 2-3 years if Silver is confirmed for the movie and we get a 'Year of Silver' campaign much like with the success of Shadow and SXSG that we've seen from this year. 3) A lot of work to make Sonic 06 an enjoyable experience has already been done through fan projects like 'Legacy of Solaris' and P-06 which are both (for the most part) only playable on powerful gaming PCs. I can't imagine that it would be that difficult to port these fan projects to consoles in comparison to making a new game from the ground up. 4) If a Sonic 06 Remake fails then no one would probably care. People already hated the game anyway and would forget about the remake quickly as it's a 'been there done that' situation. Unlike with the situation with Sonic Boom RoL where Sega marketed as a big thing and even announced 2014 as 'The Year of Sonic' consisting of a new cartoon with new designs. All eyes were on Sonic Boom for being so unique and different from any previous Sonic game, but the product bombed and brought Sonic's reputation back to where it was in 2006. A simple remaster failing would cause less damage than a big worked up new product failing. Just look at Sonic Colors Ultimate, it had it's issues, but people quickly moved on (and fans again put in a lot of work to fix the PC version over time) because it was just a bad new version of a good old game. In the case of Shadow 05 and Sonic 06 which were both big new ambitious titles that failed, people held onto that disappointment for decades. When it comes to 06, things can only go up from here if you ask me. I don't see how revisiting 06 could possibly make the game any worse, especially if they release it on PC as that will give access for fans to fix it up as they have with every Sonic game that has ever released on PC. 5) Nostalgia is a very powerful drug. Just look at the Crash Bandicoot franchise. The brand was pretty much considered dead during the PS3 era, but then in 2017, we got the Crash Bandicoot Nsane Trilogy which was a collection of remade old games that sold over 20 million units! Then a few years later, they made a sequel, Crash Bandicoot 4, a new game which sold only 5 million units despite its critical acclaim. That's only a fraction of what 3 old games sold, the Nsane trilogy sales almost reached the likes of Zelda BotW and Mario Odyssey. And as another example of the power of nostalgia, one of the reasons why Crash 4 sold so poorly was because it went up against Mario 3D-Allstars, another nostalgia-pandering cash-grab. Gen Z grew up with games such as Shadow 05 and Sonic 06 as their introduction to the Sonic franchise and gaming in general. Despite their poor quality, these games are held dear by a lot of these gamers who are now in their 20s because it's their childhood. I'm sure plenty of Gen Z gamers would happily throw down $40 to relive the glory days of coming home from elementary school with their friends to see Sonic being chased by an orca, hop on a boogie to launch rockets as Shadow, laugh at the countless hours they spent with Silver's ball puzzle, and drool at the spectacle of the 3 hedgehogs turning super to fight the mighty eternal Sun God, Solaris! 6) Also, if a Sonic 06 remake and Sonic Movie 4 were to release 2 years from now in 2026, that would be just in time for the 20th anniversary of Sonic 06 and Silver The Hedgehog!
Sonic 06 is one of my most wanted remakes, but if they are hesitant to even remake the two adventure games. They are terrified to even think about touching 06
What I would like in terms of plot and lore: - Expand on Silver's future, maybe give him a Robotnik family member that will be pivotale for him in some way, like Eggman with Sonic, and Gerald and Maria with Shadow - Give Siver a clearer identity and place in the lore, give more insight as to what role he plays in the Ultimate Lifeform type of being like Shadow and Sonic, and also his powers. What I usually think is that while Sonic is natural and born and Shadow is artificial and made, Silver would be Supernatural and bless upon the world. - In the same line of thought, give Silver greater mythological inspirations and basis, Shadow was a biblical character, P-06 had the idea to link Silver to Buddhism which I think fits. (Iblis was Arabic, but I think that was to fit Blaze as she was Egypt inspired and thus the Middle East) - Make Mephiles Silver's villain, Shadow already has Black Doom as his own manipulative villain, Mephiles is just redundant for his character. (also Mephiles would have to be renamed because Mephiles is a christian inspired name for Shadow) - Remove Blaze completely, maybe replace her with a new character and have her role filled but she never belonged in 06, even just her design doesn't fit. - I think this what a Silver story should be like. Silver's story should be about hope, in opposition to anxiety, despair, and failure, themes that Mephiles will embody, and finally sacrifice like the original. Have Silver use his Time Travel to achieve his ideal future, but have Silver always fail, trapping him in a cycle of endless loops and suffering, but because of his optimism, Mephiles will exist as his shadow that amplifies his anxiety to make mistakes, and persuade him to give in to despair and use his powers to erase time as a whole like he wants. This notion of being trapped in this cycle fits just right the buddhist inspiration I am going for, and to set free from this cycle he would have to sacrifice something or someone he is passionate about in the present and accept the reality and not rely on Time Travel so much for an unrealistic solution. - Make Sonic the actual Iblis trigger or equivalent, and give Shadow more of his anti-hero apsect Sonic Team wants to push, and thus Silver will become the solution to their conflict. Maybe have Sonic be the morally ambiguous one and Shadow tries to hunt him as a mean to save the world. Shadow represents the number 2, duality and opposition, so make Silver the number 3 as the one that links the 2 oppositons into a whole, let him be the Synthesis between Sonic's thesis and Shadow's antithesis.
The fact he said that the old cast just sound like anime VAs when the current cast has done more anime than anything Sonic related is actually hilarious.
Why you keep acting like sonic faster than shadow they the same speed. Silver is slower than both of them, but having them have moves to help them speed up would be cool. Also, I completely disagree with you on the voice actor take. I think the cast is way better and they should use them in the main games and this remake but whatever. Also I think the writers should be the ones you mentioned and the other person that worked on secret rings with shiro maekawa
Ngl i dont want them to change mephiles and shadow both of them r cool they just need to change the kiss scene and the relationship betwen Élise and sonic

I think people overthink the story rewrite stuff. If the hypothetical "06' remake" had stronger characterization/dialogue (Sonic and co. being less flat and a bit closer to SA2/Black Knight), there were a few more action focused cutscenes and the game had better cutscene animation, you could probably get away with just tweaking and streamlining a few plot points without doing too much else. Most times, peoples "re-writes" completely fall flat for me because people miss the forest for the trees trying to create this "perfect" story, when in Sonic stories, characterization and being entertaining is way more important (which coincidentally, Sonic 06 struggles with, Sonic's story especially). I also think there are a handful of times when people's distaste for the game causes them to look at certain things through even more of a microscope, turning what would be nitpicks, into giant issues (not that this game's story is free of said "giant issues") Remaking a game is pointless if you're just going to throw out the baby with the bathwater. You may as well just make a new game, because who is it really going to make happy? Nobody would benefit from it. Who would the game even be for? I think if most of the voice acting wasn't super stilted and all the characters didn't look like people wearing mascot costumes, the story would be a lot less embarrassing to watch (outside of certain Elise scenes, which would be subject to "tweaking".) It doesn't help that a good chunk of the cutscenes has no music as well, which makes the awkward voice acting stand out more. Presentation goes a long way. Taking away the awkward mocap and having actual facial animation would do a world of good. Also, I completely disagree on changing the voice cast. Roger's Sonic in particular doesn't feel like the same character as the previous VAs and Jason is certainly talented enough to voice Sonic (see any game past 06). That would just be change for the sake of change, and I don't think it would add anything to the game. Imagine if we got a Frontiers remake and Sonic was voiced by Ryan Drummond or something. I like Ryan Drummond, but I wouldn't want that. Knowing what to keep and what to change is important, and I don't think taking a metaphorical sledgehammer is always necessary, despite how bad it looks on the surface. I think altering the presentation and being thoughtful and considerate with changes to the story whilst adding important dialogue/details can go a long way. Of course, that's all just my opinion. I don't think it'll ever get made, I just think it's an interesting discussion.
Honestly i'd be all for a remake of 06, plus your ideas for it sound amazing plus it might need a different name tho, not Sonic Adventure 3 but something else since it's a return to the adventure boost like style Sega want to go for now.
As someone who loves the original, this has to happen. They probably won't exactly do this, but it is clear that they are now paying homage to other eras of Sonic, mainly the Adventure era, while also trying to innovate further on their ideas rather than milking nostalgia, instead of just the genesis games. So they really should do an SA3, as the Adventure formula never got a chance to truly shine, since they were always held back by lack of polish, annoying padding, underwhelming mechanics and poor physics. Doing this would be better than keeping the boost gameplay as there's more room for innovation and improvement, as the boost was always too scripted, less involved, and didn't take advantage of being a 3D game, and P06 proves this.
That’s what I’m saying! Flynn, the writer for unleashed that I don’t know how to spell her name and maekawa would cook up a great Sonic story together! Maybe bring Evan Stanley and Daniel Barnes in to IMO!

I feel like sega should remake this and sonic forces
Ian Flynn has the worst amy but the best shadow
People here saying 06 story needs to stay the same…
Dawg, Sonic fans need to learn what good writing is 😭
Then they get good writing and say it’s bad
What I would like in terms of plot and lore:
- Expand on Silver's future, maybe give him a Robotnik family member that will be pivotale for him in some way, like Eggman with Sonic, and Gerald and Maria with Shadow
- Give Siver a clearer identity and place in the lore, give more insight as to what role he plays in the Ultimate Lifeform type of being like Shadow and Sonic, and also his powers.
(Iblis was Arabic, but I think that was to fit Blaze as she was Egypt inspired and thus the Middle East)
- Make Mephiles Silver's villain, Shadow already has Black Doom as his own manipulative villain, Mephiles is just redundant for his character. (also Mephiles would have to be renamed because Mephiles is a christian inspired name for Shadow)
- Remove Blaze completely, maybe replace her with a new character and have her role filled but she never belonged in 06, even just her design doesn't fit.
I'm sorry man but that voice acting take is horrible.
What if sega hired chaosx, and the others to remake sonic 06 officially
He said he don’t want to work for sega so I don’t see that happening
Ngl i dont want them to change mephiles and shadow both of them r cool they just need to change the kiss scene and the relationship betwen Élise and sonic
Nah i dont think it needs
@@Mappastudio2 why it has potentiel
@mappastudio2023 Nah it kinda sucks and your opinion is weak
@@Mappastudio2 How adorable. It's like a toddler trying to critique a masterpiece. Sorry, my opinions are as rock-solid as a diamond, and your weak attempts to undermine them are about as effective as throwing a water balloon at a brick wall. Bring it on, I'm ready to dismantle your weak arguments and leave you begging for mercy.
@@mappastudio2023 Ah, a classic case of overly inflated self-importance. Let's set the record straight: your opinions aren't rock-solid, they're just stubborn. It's like you think your opinions are the gold standard, but in reality, they're just as flimsy and prone to crumble under pressure as a stale wafer. You can keep trying to intimidate with your "rock-solid" facade, but I've seen tougher bricks in a sandcastle. Your arguments are as empty as your ego and about as relevant as a rotary phone in the age of smartphones.
I also think there are a handful of times when people's distaste for the game causes them to look at certain things through even more of a microscope, turning what would be nitpicks, into giant issues (not that this game's story is free of said "giant issues")
Remaking a game is pointless if you're just going to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
Probably sonic Solaris or sumthing
@@shaulov10 Nah…How about…Sonic Flames of time?
@@shaulov10Sonic Solaris is an awesome name, it fits so well.
It's sad people think that P06 is a suitable way to play 06 and that It's the "perfect remake"
It plays alot better and runs alot smoother too

Holy crap 28 seconds
@@Tazmain. 28 seconds?
@ I found the video and it said it made and 28 seconds ago
06 story ain't that good when you ignore the only good 5 minutes of it
So true
we all know that they will take of the kissing scene
Hope they at the very least replace it with a tear or something
@@shaulov10 Yeah btw I really loves your ideas on how this should be however this remake will probably be in the next 8 or 10 years
I have a soft spot for 06 and remaking this game would be a redemption arc not even fiction could top! I hope we do get a remake!
My top pick for a sonic remake
No…just no
@@Kuzcosh nah I’m right
@ Open world tho, idk if that would work. Sonic to me, is a stage by stage game. There can be hub worlds, but not an open world.
This right here 👆
Then you clearly never played Unleashed, there's not 1 adventure level more involving than Jungle Joyride.
@AYTM1200 Hiya, you're right, I stand corrected 😉
That’s what I’m saying! Flynn, the writer for unleashed that I don’t know how to spell her name and maekawa would cook up a great Sonic story together! Maybe bring Evan Stanley and Daniel Barnes in to IMO!
