Yes! A good man must treat a woman like a lady to be truly good. That's why nudity in film is so egregious, especially in rape scenes. Dont make the hero root for the woman to lose her clothes, and dont make us, the audience who shoukd not enjoy the rape scene, root for her to lose her clothes either

This is probably the most important cultural discussion NOT being raised by anybody. Ideology and idolatry, narrow-mindedness in the name of a (false) belief in one’s own righteousness, tough-guy talk without the tough-guy morality... The West has capitulated far too much in the name of tolerance and political correctness; we must uphold basic decency, morality, and truth

This Bruckner character signed a petition in support of Roman Polanski, calling for his release after Polanski was arrested in Switzerland in relation to his 1977 charge for drugging and _graping_ a 13-year-old girl.
Somehow, I can't imagine Philip Marlow supporting the likes of Roman Polanski.
In fact, Polanski would have been a rather dark villian in any Raymond Chandler novel.
