this is great for gaming as well. it reduces eye fatigue. and helps with contrast. colors are important for games as well! worth the buy and it makes your setup look clean. I DONT recommend cheap color LED strps you see on amazon 6500k is ideal for your eyes, you compromise on that if you go with color. if youre ok with that GO FOR IT Great video mate.
Glad you enjoyed it! I actually own a MediaLight for my OLED TV now. It’s amazing. Really helps for gaming, watching movies, etc. Weird watching TV now without it.
As a fulltime film editor, I have to say that I really appreciate your review. All of these LED-1billion-RGBStrips is not really my kind of style - nor is it good, when sitting focussed editing in front of your tripple monitor set-up in the cutting room. So I am highly likely going to invest in this product. Thank you so much for your review and thoughts on the product, Todd. I have absolutely no idea as to why, you don't have more views or subscribers. But - you just earned yourself one! All the best, Emil/Copenhagen :-)
Emil Gelting Thanks Emil! I think it’s a worthwhile purchase. Still loving mine after making this video! I’m just getting started making vids here, so all in good time.
I noticed that just about everybody else seems to have it wrapping around the perimeter of the monitor rather than just a single strip from left to right like you have! Does that make much difference when grading?
Thanks. :) These days (if you view my more recent videos) I shoot a lot with the Canon 50mm f/1.2 lens, ISO around 200, aperture set to f/1.4 of thereabouts.
I think that looks too bright round the monitor which makes it distracting I've got my light just bright enough to help with contrast and eye strain, so dimmer is usually best. I've got luminoodle colour LEDs it doesn't have true white but it's close enough. It's probably better to get one with a camera so the colours can match what's on the screen or the Philip's ambilight TVs which look great.
Does 6500k suit all light/color modes on tv perfectly? I mean warm1, warm2 or cool... ıf i choose warm1 over warm2 or cool will this bias lightning have any effect on colors? Thank you
This product never worked for me because the usb dongle couldn't be attached firmly to the strip so it never realy made full contact. I never had the possibility to make use of the guaranty because I bought this from outside US, my friend received and brought it home. I don't understant why this doesn't just have usb connection directly.
What color temperature would be good for a living room? Im now getting into these leds without rgb colors. I have these media lights on my monitors and tvs but I want to install some lights on my crown moulding in the living room but I dont know what color temp is good. And also for bedroom under the bed for calming and reading
Everyone has a different preference, but I generally prefer lights that get as close to 5600k as they can possibly be. That way they're neutral and not overly warm or too cool.
Hey thanks for the vid, it says I'm not able to use your coupon code though, can you help? Also, can you comment on how this works viewing media, not editing?
Suppose you have it set up on your 55" Display in your basement and when you're down there watching with the lights off you get 'eye fatigue' (dry eyes, strain) bias lighting helps alleviate that by providing a light source behind the TV which allows your eyes to relax while also improving contrast and blacks on your display.
Interesting question. If you're actively using both for color grading/editing, then I'd buy one for both displays. Otherwise, one would probably be okay. Really depends on how you use both monitors.
All MediaLights have 30 LEDs per meter. So, if you need to install on a larger display, or on a wall mount, there are different ways of installing. It takes a lot more LEDs to go around 4 sides of a 65, 75, 85, or 95" display, so the MediaLights for those kinds of installations are longer. When a display is on a stand, you don't need to go around the edges. In fact, even a light bulb could be used as bias lighting for a display on a stand, and we make lightbulbs that can be used for a variety of uses. Thanks! Jason @ MediaLight
Such a nicely presented video. This hit an invaluable niche topic that is surely going to gain more popularity in the future. Thanks a ton

Hello , I have two monitors. Should I buy one or two? I do like to have well lit room.

@@dominey Thanks for the answer!
@@dominey What decide I should buy 1m or 2m?
Why does it have to be so expansive for a monitor/tv light to get exact 6500k and USB power and dimmable?
Probably because they're specialized LEDs with much better CRI (color accuracy) than your average LED strip.
@@dominey unbelievable but probably true
how come the quads have triple the amount of lights?
Don't know! If you contact the company they should be able to help.
